I would love to. But we already have 3-4 scenes in that plan, depending.

I mean, we could always leave the post-mortem of Hazou's relationship with Akane to @Velorien by making this a two-QM update, I'm sure he'd enjoy that.

e: That said, if you have a wording suggestion for it I'd be happy to use that.

I think you're overstating the problems of always using Chi; in practice, people will associate X-looking things with votes, and there'll be tension in the time between seeing a post and running the tally. Not least because there will be the rare true-X-voter. The inconvenience is real, tho.

I was thinking earlier about reasons people might support meme voting, and on reflection I could stand to remember that "it's all a game, we should just relax" and "we don't need to be so risk-averse". Fair cop there. But it bothers me that this is done via a) memers taking utility from things they know will distress others, and b) writing meme plans that take risk for no reward.

Incidentally, I strongly suggest anyone that voted for the other plan to vote for this one. All that it changes so far is reminding Jiraiya of Kagome's birthday and giving Akane the invitation.

Should we invite Honoka and her family, too?

That's gonna bite us in the ass, isn't it? Haru will randomly turn up, having coincidentally always been out of the house when Kagome was there so we didn't realize they were related.

Here's a thought:

Ask Mari for help with inviting Aoi and Honoka without them feeling the need to bring any big fancy gifts or anything.

(also specifically them and not the rest of their family because they want to keep the celebrations small.)

I would personally suggest something Aoi made. A drawing or something.

Can you fucking imagine how adorable it would be to give Kagome a picture of him and her working together?

Very much this. If we had some great unique advantage, such as knowledge that everyone's going to bet against us so we can win tons of money by betting on ourselves and winning, then it's actually free money, but if the goal is just 'gamble but cheat with ninja magic' then all I see is us getting kicked out of casinos.

I would like additional discussion on this idea. Thoughts on it, @faflec, any others?

Idea's multifold:

First, give Mari an outlet to do an unmitigated good with her social skills in the context of clan stuff (ie stuff Hana would be inappropriate to help with) without it being manipulative in a bad way.

Second, give Kagome support from other people in Konoha that aren't explicitly part of his team. This advances Mari's agenda from the interludes.

Third, adorable scene with Honoka giving Kagome something.

For it to work you need both exceptional abilities, which we have in multiple overlapping forms, and the blessing and trust of the local Yakuza, which while not unique, is still pretty hard to come by, especially for foreigners. Synergistic advantages are access to an infiltration-and-social-spec Jounin and the most incorrigible rogue / best spymaster alive for preparation.

Seriously, this is already a proven approach in a much less fertile environment. Hazou made bank just working on his own as a child in illegitimate backrooms, and only had to stop when he crossed the Yakuza. Imagine if he were an adult cooking dice and working with card-counter Kei and schmoozer Noburi as a dedicated team operating with the assistance of the Yakuza as they pointed towards all the most juicy tables and marks complete with profile summaries. Imagine throwing a mind-reader, a Nara, bug spies, and/or a byakugan onto the team. We know that Shika has projects he wants to keep secret from his parents and probably needs an independent income stream to fund. Neji's clan is enormously rich, but he isn't likely to have much wealth he can personally spend without accounting for every last cent to a superior. Ino most certainly enjoys the finer things in life and in any case would probably go along with it just to support Shika.

The Casinos which are managed by the Yakuza, who are both friendly and interested in extracting as much money as possible from the flood of foreigners? Why would they shut it down instead of taking a cut and thanking the team for pitching in during the most high-traffic time in a generation which they were given less than six weeks warning of?

The clan needs money. Lots of it. It can get it by fleecing the pocket change of the absurdly wealthy hereditary feudal and merchant lords on holiday, or by taking lots of missions to murder lots of people, or by spending all of its time making and selling explosives to be used to murder even more people, or by selling arms to genocidal alien monstrosities.

One of these things is not like the others.
