As you know, we do regular "modeling the background world" stuff where we roll for politics, disasters, and inconveniences. Akane has been given a mission that the dice tell us is going to have at least one meaningful encounter on it as opposed to the usual "you did it and nothing happened worth mentioning", so she's going to need her XP spent. She's been assumed to be training all this time, so the vote will be applied retroactively and in time for her next mission.
The rules indicate that rounding always rounds up except when otherwise specified, and the Substitution rules (which are a little messy atm, sorry) don't specify that it rounds down.
@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped Back in Chapter 50, Mari was able to Substitute with Kagome to save him from an attack, and dodge using her own skills. If one of Akane's Genin is attacked, can Akane perform a Substitution on that Genin to get them out of harm's way even if it is not her turn?
Assuming Akane anticipates any danger at all, she can maintain a Block to do so. In FtD, you cannot Substitute with someone to protect them from an attack without establishing a Block.
I would assume that's part of the qualities required of an ambassador, but I know better than to assume, and it seems that Hazō hasn't had a great experience re: welcomeliness overall, at least not with everyone.
That's interesting. In my admittedly limited culinary experience, we tend to wrap the meat or greasy things in greens, usually, to not get our hands dirty if eating by hand, or to make it generally not-too-hot-on-first-contact... but doing the reverse might be great. Strips of meat, marinated perhaps, wrapped around watercress or another salad-like substance, and some cottage cheese or crème fraîche in the middle. I gotta do this now. Making a note of it! If I remember to do it this may or may not become the first attempt at cuisine for MfD fanart
I'm sorry, is he one of the family members who thought we were going too far when we suggested joining Orochimaru? Even then we didn't plan on taking part in something so... so vile. And before someone remarks that Kagome also chews with his mouth open, first off, how do you even remember that? It was last mentioned in chapter 62, I think. And also, he doesn't do it on purpose.
"That's a fascinating idea, Ambassador," Hazō said. "I'd never considered the musical possibilities inherent in waggling thin sheets of metal back and forth. Very innovative." He sipped from his stemware in order to hide his face for just a moment. There was a limit to how much inanity even the Iron Nerve could allow you to endure without showing some trace of how much you wanted to choke the life out of a stupid old windbag.
That's modern miles, of course. Back in Pandono's time they measured in zu, which was based on tail-lengths and ended up being about seventeen hundreds shorter than a modern mile. We moved to the modern standard because...
because of course the imperialistic military-driven civilisation would use imperial units and not metric. This is strictly about the Pangolins, by the way, no half-baked stereotyped socio-political opinions to be seen here.
There was a booming sound as the double doors to the room slammed open hard enough to bounce off the walls. Enma strode through, the sunset behind him outlining him burnt umber light and casting his shadow forward across everyone.
"Somebody best have a bottle of the good stuff for me or there's gonna be trouble," Enma said into the silence. "And after I drink it, we're gonna talk about why you people aren't saving the world."
Assuming Akane anticipates any danger at all, she can maintain a Block to do so. In FtD, you cannot Substitute with someone to protect them from an attack without establishing a Block.
Sigh. I really don't want to say all this because I know it will feel bad to read and it feels even worse to say but I have really not liked how this arc has been handled so far.
Yeah, a good chunk of that is on me. There could have been a lot to do with the ten days of this update, and I'm sure @Velorien or @Paperclipped would have had a bunch of great character moments as Hazō schmoozed. Sadly, on the prior update I didn't have the juice to continue after the entrance and then I crunked on getting stuff done this weekend. Velorien is buried under a work project so didn't have a chance to pick up my slack, and Paper was already committed to writing the other half of the update, which comes out tomorrow. We could have dragged it out instead of timeskipping but for various QM-side reasons it was better to do this timeskip instead. The decision was to timeskip 10 days, but (un)?fortunately that put us to Enma's arrival.
We could always go back and write some of the conversations later on. Likely won't happen, but we'll see.
[X] Training Hazou: Forty-Seven
[X] Akane Training Plan: Alertness First
Kei has stockpiled a lot of XP once again. Perhaps Shadow Imitation from 30->39? Or Ranged Weapons from 46->49. Suppose we could do Frozen Skein to 27.
Noburi is still working on bringing MedKnow to the 50s so he can level MedNin to the 40s. All set on that front for now.
