My opinion is that Hazo didn't expect nukes, nor desire to create nukes, since said nukes are also almost completely useless in most circumstances.

I su(2x)est sendin(3x) a SC, both for safety, but also so that if the plans require us (4x)oin(5x) directly to Asuma, we can do so. Also clarify that cooperation means "Does not end with Asuma declarin(6xCombo) our execution because he (7xCombo)ave us a faulty plan on purpose".

This, this exactly. I don't like the vibe of any of the current plans for this reason. Hazou isn't actually at fault this time, and actin' like Asuma will want to kill us over this is uncalled-for and invites worse outcomes. Even your plan, @MadScientist, namely that "Check Akane is fine with the below" section you added later on.
That said, I don't actually want to hand the nuke to Asuma, and I expect that Shikamaru when isolated from Asuma would want to cover it up.

I have removed my ballot for now. I don't necessarily object to the plan but I like mine better for a few reasons.
I am unsure that he will be receptive to the idea that the world cannot know of this. I would prefer to present that as our opinion on combination with a statement that this is a clan secret and one we will not deploy.
This was an order issued in the middle of a war. Do you take the position that he has communicated the sentiment repeatedly? Can you provide citations? If that is the case my opinion updates.
The world looks very different from the last time the topic came up. I do not think it unreasonable that he would have expected us to halt non-theoretical WMD research and to run WMD field trials which may be observed by other nations and the Akatsuki by him first. I think there is a decent chance Asuma will take that stance and I am worried about what will happen in that eventuality if we are committed as you outline.
Do you think that we could communicate 'we acted in obedience to your orders' via subtext? What penalty do you foresee we would incur if we did that?

Perhaps we should emphasize to Asuma that we pushed the jutsu to it's limits? Its current capabilities aren't possible without SC, otherwise the investment into it would be probably be prohibitive. Also, Hazō has cause to think he had blinders on and kind of flirted with TH. Seems like it to me, at least. And my third concern is that Hazō should really question whether or not the jutsu was made to be pushed this far or that the it would be replicable as a viable technique, even a suicidal one. To be more specific, he should worry about if this is exaclty the kind of situations that TH was intended for or if it was a 'jutsu failure'. It doesn't have to actually be a failure, but he should think about it or voice it that way imo.
I seriously think we have overlooked key factors in this experiment and that we should tell Asuma this. It's not our area of expertise to test jutsu at all. These points should boil down the points I made above and could be a nice addition to the plan.

Our allies in AMITY and our enemies who have spies within our borders will likely see this. Their reports to their respective masters will not write this off as a seal failure. Anyone with eyes will suspect that Leaf possesses a weapon of mass destruction and that places Asuma in a very awkward position.
I do not believe that Asuma will care about the loss of human life etc. but I expect that he will be upset that this happened and that he will be unmoved by our pleas that this was an unforeseeable consequence. "If there was any chance of an outcome on a scale visible to everyone from Leaf to Rock", he will say, "I should have been informed so I could make a decision as to whether the test should proceed. You have put me in an awkward position internationally and I am upset."

I'm of the inclination that we should not do any of this, as symbols of trust. Shikamaru will feel the need to reciprocate and hopefully not assassinate us. To that end, I would recommend we don't create information that can be used to replicate the EM nuke (I do not think I can be swayed on this), and send in our actual person to talk with Shikamaru. If we are concerned about assassination, we can have a SC outside the Nara estate with a watcher who will be alerted if it pops and respond appropriately.

I think I could be convinced to drop one or the other, but not both. I understand and appreciate the value of trust symbols, but I do think there's a reasonable risk that Nara Shikamaru considers our continued survival too risky and, if the opportunity to close up the info leak presents itself, he may take it.
I don't think that's likely, but I'm not about to bare my neck just to show how much I trust that he won't slice it open, in the middle of a conversation about exactly how much incentive he has to do so.
