@RandomOTP, question: Is your Yuno event supposed to be a group/clan event, or a personal meeting between Hazou and Yuno? Are the expression of friendship and the apology meant to be coming from Hazou specifically, or from the clan as a whole?

A personal meeting between Hazou and Yuno, and with the expression of friendship and apology from Hazou, himself. The sanity checks are to ensure that we don't accidentally offend her with the content of our message or by accidentally doing something weird according to Isan Tradition (like wearing green to a party, or having buttons that face the wrong way).

Hey look, I stitched two plans together. What an abomination. It has the Yuno scene! It has the Ami scene! It has the tower joke! It has the timeskip! It has the Summoning training! It has the sealing research!

[x] Action Plan: Precision Bombing Followed by Total Memetic Warfare
Words: 454
  • Meet with Yuno. Adhere to Isanese traditions where possible.
    • Sanity-check with Noburi, Akane, Mari, Kei, and Snowflake.
    • Tone: platonic respect and admiration.
    • You're her friend because you like her.
      • For strength of character. She'd been through so much, yet she's able laugh and love, feel compassion and empathy.
      • For courage. In combat, she's fearless. When Isan went astray, she traversed the wilds, alone, to save it.
      • For loyalty. She sought to save Isan, despite years of injustice and wrongs inflicted upon her.
      • For passion. She loves her country, her culture, and Noburi with a zeal that never fails to amaze.
    • Many ninja numb their hearts, afraid to feel, to be vulnerable. She hasn't. Her heart may be beaten and bruised, but you look at her, and see a woman unbroken, a person undefeated. You see your beloved sister, a ninja worthy of your respect and admiration. Gouketsu Yuno, with whom you're proud to share a name.
    • Would she like a second, family-only wedding ceremony? Done in Isan's tradition.
    • Commiserate about the strangeness of Leaf culture.
    • Any Isan "family essentials" she'd like us to import?
  • Meet with Ami (reasonably secure location).
    • New project idea, one you don't have time for. If she likes it, she can use it however she wants.
      • Maybe refine it and present to Asuma?
    • What are ideologies? Collections of mutually-adapted ideas embedded into an overarching framework. Contexts that give meaning to actions. Infections spreading through minds. Powerful tools capable of manipulating entire societies. Their full power isn't yet realized.
      • Precaution: Talk as if WoF is implicitly an exception, not a mere ideology, making Leaf immune to this attack.
    • Project: Construction of artificial ideologies, purpose-built to infect target societies and indoctrinate/damage them. (Infection vector: entertainment?)
    • Components:
      • A core idea. Uplift, Youth, ancestors, a kami...
      • "Payload": traits you want to encourage. Depending on the ideology's purpose, either:
        • Something you inherently want people to do/have. (Valuing civilian lives, for Uplift.)
        • Something that'd compromise the target society. (Questioning of authority, general toxicity.)
      • Traits that make it viral, its adherents more successful and happy.
        • Examples: Validation of pre-existing beliefs. Regular group rituals reinforcing community cohesion. General good advice ("sleep well").
        • These should be deeply enmeshed in the core idea's terms, creating the illusion that they only makes sense within the ideology. ("Hair-washing is mandatory: it renews your connection with the Water God.")
        • Purpose: Make the beneficial parts indistinguishable from the payload, ensuring non-adherents can't adopt only them. All-or-nothing.
    • Unrelated: Wrecking your tower twice in one day is too much. She's banned from touching it without official permission.
      • (Subtext: Ami probably arranged for Fifi to eat the boardgame.)
  • Background:
    • Help Kagome finish dimensionalism seals (mechanical bonuses).
    • With Asuma's permission, ask Noburi to teach Akane Summoning.

That's a mighty fine plan you have there. Mind adding a line about "order Isan Family Essentials" for Yuno and Noburi? It'd make Yuno feel more at home in Leaf, and I'm sure it'd go a long way to making her feel like she's starting her new family in Leaf. Either way, you have my vote.

Does the following look good? I don't think we can just hire a mission to go grab these without Asuma's permission, but there's talk about visiting Isan with Kagome in the near future.
Background:
  • Commit to importing any Isan "family essentials" for Yuno, once an opportunity appears.
  • Help Kagome finish dimensionalism seals (bonuses to rolls).
  • With Asuma's permission, ask Noburi to begin teaching Akane Summoning.

Gouketsu. The clan which pre-emptively trains all its members in summoning, because they're just that good at making scrolls suddenly appear...

Okay, this was... a quite difficult instance of word count optimization. @RandomOTP, your phrasings are so heartfelt and beautiful, it's terrible. They're anathema to my detached, clinical, abstract style.

Still, I've managed to get my plan to sub-500, without (I think; do check) any loss in meaning, either factual or emotional. Yay.

Edit: Pulled the time skip out, because it's been pointed out it might have unfortunate interactions with the plan's negative brevity modifier.

    • Apologize for abandoning her in Isan, the first time.
      • You're sorry. You were wrong to do so; you're responsible for something that hurt her heart.
      • An apology isn't enough, but you'll try to prove your sincerity by action, going forward.

Hey uh, actually can you take the timeskip back out of your plan? It was pointed out that we would be skipping with a negative XP modifier, which I'd rather not do...

Thank you ^.^

Aye aye, cap'n!

Took out the timeskip, added @Kiba's ideas of special paper/ink blend for scrip

Upgraded to "outright terrifying."

Bear in mind that there are solid population genetic reasons why parasites tend to have multiple hosts. One where they are trivial and one where they are cataclysmic. Stability is probably going to require a dynamic cycle between populations. The minor nations might be useful hosts for these purposes.

@faflec What rulings have been made regarding Elemental Mastery? We'd like to consolidate them into the jutsu document.
Could you ping me in ~9 hours? I've got an all-day call and don't know if I will remember at the end of it.

Reminder that at this point you have trained the GMs well enough to start talking about the casual ability to turn the floor into lava and they'll probably just go along with it.

Coordinate with aforementioned people to adhere to Isan Traditions (or Leaf-substitutes)
  • Attire, decor, seating, food placement, etc
  • Practice conversation with aforementioned people to encode within Iron Nerve
I'm not quite clear on what kind of scene this is meant to be. Are you throwing her a party? Also, what is the intent behind encoding the conversation within the Iron Nerve?

It's meant to be a one on one lunch with Yuno in full Isan Tradition (from the attire, to the positions of food, to the decor, and whatever else). The sanity check is to ensure that we don't offend her (either by an Isanese cultural misstep, or by saying something that offends her, personally) edit: while also ensuring that we clearly communicating our intent, and the check is to help. If you'd like, I can change "sanity check with..." To "workshop with..."

As for the Iron Nerve, that's mostly intended so that Hazou practices the conversation before the real one (like how you might recite a speech/presentation at home a few times before you need to give one in front of your coworkers). The "encode within Iron Nerve" is just to ensure that Hazou doesn't "lose his place" or forget where he's going with certain points.

Hazou-the-character has said that this conversation is important to him (and Yuno's social isolation hurts my own heart), so I really, really want to get this right. But if you think it's unnecessary, I don't mind replacing it with something more along the lines of "practice conversation with aforementioned people."

Bear in mind that you don't get mental access to the contents of an Iron Nerve recording. If you want to remember what you've encoded, you're going to have to actually replay it at 100% speed.
