I'm 90% certain that I remember marrying a clanless requires an adoption slot to prevent exactly this. Interclan and jounin gets passess because it doesn't affect anyone but the involved clans, but anything which changes the general distribution of tax benefits for everybody is strictly regulated, hence why we need that slot for Yuno.
Lailoken is right. We kept the remaining slot for Yuno. Hazo should know that.

[x] Action Plan: The Bonfire that Warms A Chosen Family Throughout The Cold Autumn Feast
Words: tbd
Timeline: Remainder of day (as of 388)
  • Akane
    • Sexuality
      • Heterosexuality is "default assumption," and we've never had reason to doubt its application towards ourselves.
      • This thing with the Hag has made us think...
        • It's hatred like Hagoromo's that makes many nontraditional people hide themselves, performing a mummery of a life that kills their soul, out of fear that they'll be condemned/killed for who they are. But who they are is no different than you or me. Liking men, liking women, it's no different than liking seafood or red meat. Some people only eat one, some people like both, some people don't like either of them. And, just like food preferences, the fact that so many people are willing to damn another based on their sexual preferences is idiotic.
        • We pretty sure we're not attracted to men, but if one day we wake up and find that we are, then nothing important would have changed. It'll be as if we wake up and have a craving for ketchup, where before we had no desire to eat it. We'll still be ourselves, Hazou-the-Earnest-Fool, Hazou-the-Dreamer, Hazou-the-Youthful.
        • But most people don't see it this way. They cling on to their default assumptions, regardless of its validity. They'll end up killing their soul because they never dared to wonder "am I different" or "why do I feel this way?" It's a notion too daunting for them to consider.
        • Part of this movement is to allow people to comfortably examine themselves for the possibility of non-traditional inclinations, without fear of judgement. Sure, some people who examine their sexuality will find that they are heterosexual. That fact doesn't undermine the fact that we're working towards an environment that encourages such an honest introspection in the first place.
    • Relationship
      • We're dating you, we love you, and we wouldn't explore anything outside the relationship without us first sitting down and having an open, honest, and nonjudgmental conversation about it.
        • (talking about the idea itself, how the idea makes us both feel, what guidelines would be in place for such an idea to exist in reality, if at all, and how the idea would impact our relationship as a whole, and then do regular check-ins to ensure that nothing has changed since the initial discussion).
      • This is strictly just an internal examination of our self. We know that we haven't really defined the mutually-agreed-upon boundaries of our new relationship, but we would never unilaterally change our relationship from monogamy to non-monogamy.
  • Mari
    • Personal...
      • Weddings are emotional. We know you're still grieving for Jiraiya. We are too, though admittedly not in the same way. Are you okay? Want to spend the next Goketsu Family Dinner talking about Jiraiya? It'd let Yuno learn more about our family. And yes, family doesn't stop being family when they're dead. They just live on in our hearts and memories.
    • On Wedding...
      • We feel like the Hag will find some way to ruin the ceremony for Noburi and Yuno while still doing just enough that they can say that they've performed their religious duties.
        • They see don't see us as people, but as foreign barbarians who support Keiko's "unnatural" ways.
        • They view themselves as the last bastion of holiness in a sinful world, and are only doing this because of Tsunade.
        • They're stupid enough to go too far anyway ("martyring" themselves and retaining their self-concept).
      • What can we do to prevent this without ruining it for Noburi and Yuno?
        • Invite Asuma?
        • Have our Summons attend ("learn more about modern human customs?")
        • Invite LGBTQ+ ninja as a show of support (allowing the Hag to see the unity they face?)
        • Keep as full a weapons loadout under our formal attire as possible?
          • Just openly carry weapons?
          • Conceal them just poorly enough that others can tell we're carrying?
      • We planned a mixed Isan-Leaf wedding ceremony, right? Can we carry that out as a private service on clan compound?
        • Noburi doesn't really seem to care, but Yuno does. Would this help or hurt? Implement if it helps.
    • On Hagoromo...
      • Sanity check: Could we get Anko to get a slow-acting poison, then have sabotage Lord Hag's food/booze while the wedding is going on?
        • If done well, our behavior during the actual wedding (carrying weapons, summons present, other safeguards) might distract from the sabotage.

Mari isn't grieving Jiraiya. She permanently killed that her to restore functionality.

Again, everything should be about getting the wedding done before something or someone screws it up. We are out of cards and out of time. Lock it down while we still can. Everything else can wait.

I'm going to laughcry if this quest turns into a rom-com and all the fighting, politics, and economics happens offscreen. The Hagoromo just switch into a polycule clan and attempt to make Hidden Leaf perform one giant orgy-ritual to summon Jashin, who is actually the God of Chaos, not murdering.

The only way to stop him is to ask our wingman Orochimaru to seduce all the Kages at the same time.

No spoons to deal with a plan this cycle which I expect is pretty much everyone right now so

Have we considered the possibility that someone in power wishes to add Hazo to their harem instead of the other way around

I dispute the assumption that those are, necessarily, meme votes.

Mine was.

I truly am sorry if you thought it was serious because it was something you'd like to read about. Didn't mean to mislead anyone, but I figured that having one aspect be to have a literal tournament consisting of Hazou's wives and husbands fighting for his love would have given it away.

I also wouldn't sneak in something as game-changing as this into a voting period where people are, understandably, less active due to various RL reasons right now. (I also think the fear of people thinking QMs would actually write this plan if it won is a little overblown since there is nothing actionable in it; it's just a word title. But it doesn't cost me anything to assuage these concerns and swap the x out now that the joke has run its course.)

Now that said, since there might actually be some interest among the hive mind to go down that path of having Hazou create his own harem, feel free to push for it. I'd personally go with a poll first just to gauge interest since it's something less time sensitive than the normal Action Plans.

Though to be honest, I wouldn't be voting for it myself. I think Akane is just too good and that Hazou should keep her to himself. It's his first real relationship and he found someone that is actually quite understanding and forgiving of his various flaws and foot-in-mouth moments (though, you know, let's not keep abusing this aspect; like by telling a group of strangers that we want explore whether we are attracted to boys before telling our girlfriend). She is perfect to help Hazou mature a little without the hive mind having to constantly invest spoons to make sure it's working.

This is as autopilot as it gets, and that I happen to like their interactions is even better.

Youthsuits?

But that actually had an action/verb in the title: "Buy a Youthsuit" whereas "Marked for Love: A Rational Harem Quest" doesn't.

(I mean, aside from the fact that players shouldn't be able to unilaterally decide the quest name.)

Guess I'm one of those insane people this cycle.

[x] Action Plan: Aura Training

To take place the evening before the wedding.
  • Important: Clear things up with Akane. Hazou speaks from the heart.
  • Make sure you have a suitable wedding present ready for tomorrow.
  • You may not get an aura right away, but there may be some things you can do to speed the process up.
  • Meditate on the burns Mari gave you. Feel where in your being that they lie. Focus on these surfaces.
  • You've tasted multiple auras. Think of identity along their associative metaphorical logic.
    • Mari = Flames
    • Orochimaru = Vivisection
    • Ami = Ice
    • Jiraiya = Inferno of Damned Souls
    • Zabuza = Biting Demon
    • Hiruzen = Grandfather
    • Asuma = Bonfire
    • Itachi = Grinding Bloody Wheels
    • Keiko(?) = Frozen Mirrors
    • Haru(?) = Chained Raging Animal
    • Hazou = ???
  • What are the core elements of your identity that wouldn't be common to most other people?
    • Uplift (drive to improve the situation instead of merely preventing it from getting worse, everyone gets saved; no exceptions)
    • The Thing (sudden flashes of insight, inconsistent strategic brilliance with a risk of catastrophic miscalculation)
    • List-maker (high effort to catalogue your ideas, plan things out, and create contingencies)
    • Innovator (love of problem-solving and invention, turning things upside down)
  • Let your mind wander. What forms do these concepts coalesce to?
  • Remember in Asuma's office, when you met his gaze and refused to back down on protecting Leaf. Forget the argument itself, and dredge up that feeling of determination that even the lord hokage was not allowed to argue with. Remember also, when you told Keiko to choose whether she was on Team Uplift, or whether she had abandoned it for the Nara, and your anger "physically pushed at her".
  • Having done the above, unchain your soul.
Ping me with copy-edits, and someone explain the significance of the IC date.
