I think my stance (and I've heard this from a few people, but I can't recall who) is that I am very positive towards Ami, but think we should actively limit our interactions with her until we have some way of playing on the same playing field. Ami would (in my mind) make an excellent future foil for Hazou (romantic or otherwise), but any interactions right now are horribly skewed in her favor.

I think the idea of "we're in talks of marriage" is much better than outright "we're getting married", but honestly both points are probably moot given this update.

Point of information: I deliberately ended the update with you still in Asuma's office living room. For you next plan (unless @Velorien says otherwise) you may start from where the chapter left off and continue talking to Asuma or you can start from after you've left and gone elsewhere.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Is Hazou aware of Konoha/international law when it comes to clan secret trading between clans of different villages?
 
Can anyone think of anything to ask/tell Asuma? Mari's basically covered the "we're on your side" and we can't really do much about the trade without knowing how Leaf/international trade laws work. But what about anything else? Maybe we should ask him what kind of fruit he prefers in his fruit baskets?

Edit: Did I take a nap? No. Did I eat an unreasonable amount of tasty food for dinner? Yes. Will I regret this later? Also yes.

Point of note, Asuma already knows about the koi and the plan for stealing them. It was meant to be after the trip to the island.
 
I mean... we could offer Asuma chakra for summoning in the defence of Leaf in exchange for Konoha's resources in trading with the Wakahisa for the koi. And I support doing so.
 
Personally, I think we should sketch out our plan for having Nobby be a FOOM catalyst. It doesn't need much more than pointing it out, Asuma will understand the implications, and he's in a position to nudge things the right way to get it done.

If we can get an infinite chakra source, Nobby doesn't just become a strategic asset, but a strategic asset who can have kids.

Also I vote for researching his seals ourselves. It's knowledge that we'll want anyway, and even if we can get it through diplomacy we have to do the legwork on "verify" when we "trust but verify".

People don't want to share the idea of FOOM with people outside the Goketsu clan. And I pretty much agree with that.

If only there were someone you could ask... Someone who grew up with one of the best educated fathers on the planet and was groomed for political power from a young age... Someone who HAS that position of political power and therefore is able to *change* the laws...

If only there were such a person accessible to you.

My tired brain went "Sauske" with absolutely zero hesitation and a stupid amount of confidence. Then, when I started to type this out, it finally caught up to "Oh! Wait! ...Asuma, maybe?" So I'm taking that as my sign to let my sleep deprived brain get some rest. 'Night everyone! Try not to burn down the hivemind (without me)! I'll update my lists in the morning!

I'll drink to that. More specifically, I'll offer a bounty on it.

Goal: Cause Jiraiya to once more be a recurring character in the canon timeline going forward.

Bounty: 1,000 XP, dropping by 2 XP every midnight UTC.

This is offered in good faith, so please don't try to rules lawyer -- omake, flashbacks, etc are not what we're looking for.

Note: I don't know that it's possible to collect on this bounty. There has been only a limited amount of work done behind the QM screen regarding the afterlife and what's possible in terms of resurrection. It may simply not be possible to bring someone back after they've been dead for more than a few hours.

Actually, the "easy" solution is time travel. Create a stable time loop, he's reported as being a "charred body" on the ground, we can just substitute in a shadow clone with one in a storage seal. Hell, if time travel *works* by stable time loops, we won't even have to make sure the storage seal is all special and always-unseals-on-destruction.

Asuma knows that Noburi can help with summoning, he also assumes Noburi cannot give him infinite chakra, because it's like me saying "I can punch a mountain", it's ridiculous from his PoV, especially consider he never had a Chakra drainer as a Leaf-nin. Maybe with time he could think about the Koi AND Noburi AND Summoning, if he finds time between the Paperwork/Dealing with Orochimaru/Dealing with Tsunade/Dealing with Clan/Dealing with...Ect. But somewhere far in the future it's not now.

An example would the Skywalkers and Rock, did they expect MEW bombing? No, because having something and having an actually perfect strategy to use it is different, so if we can propose it before he thinks about it...well, it means we offered another S-Rank level innovation and...well, i already explained the profit. The risks on the other hand....

Actually there is a leaf clan that does something similar to the wakahisa, the sacred fire clan or something. I don't know if they reside in konoha though.
 
I think at least making the connection between the Koi, the Wakahisa bloodline and Summon-armies explicit and out loud would prove more of a help than a hindrance with Asuma. This isn't going to take any action plans, we're right there in the office.
 
[X] Action plan: Stable time loop

  • Discuss Yasuji sitiuation with Asuma
    • Long term it would be benificial if a Mist Clan head owed his accedancy to Konoha
    • And making sure that Noburi's branch of the Goketsu is fully empowered is good for Leaf
    • Ami has shown us how much influence is possible to gather in a forgein village
      • Image that influence directly in the hands of a Kage instead of in opposition to it
    • We have some ideas that might entice Yasuji that we would like to discuss in a purely hypothetical manner
      • jutsu from the 7th path
        • From the toads and an other scrolls that Goketsu might acquire
      • sealing instruction from Kagome
        • Which would have the benefit of bringing Kiri-nin to leaf to learn and see the wonders of Konoha
      • Some of Jiriaya's seals
      • trade with Konoha through the 7th path
      • Improved barrel designs
    • Of course we would never do anything to endanger our relationship with the Hokage so if any of these hypotheticals where unworkable it would be nice to know
  • Time loop
    • The next morning Hazou precommits that if he ever invents seals that allow for time travel he will leave them on a specific hill at a specefic time​
    • Go there and wait​

I'm not sure we should be giving away anything of Jiriaya's. He was a master sealmaster and a spymaster. His stuff is the kind of things that people start wars over. I'd maybe be okay with offering some of the more useless/mundane seals as a last resort, but I'd much rather not give up anything of Jiriaya's. We're a new clan with very little up our sleeves and we need to keep advantage that we have.
