If Hazou had that rant in him the first time around (and it wasn't in the plan, so that was all him) then he's probably got it in him this time around too. What I'm worried about is whether we'll get such a golden opportunity for Hazou to let it out again, because the conditions here were pretty darn optimal and if, say, we were with ISC and they cut Hazou off halfway in it'd be a lot less satisfying and effective.

Really, it comes down to how much things have changed. The rant came from Hazou but the set-up came from the plan so if Hazou still tries to show the letter to Keiko in relatively private conditions we've got good odds of seeing it happen like it did originally.

The problem is that it's going to be awkward to fit it in after they receive Ami's letter accepting Noburi's marriage proposal.

I swear to Jashin, if we vote for Hazou to gently push Noburi to reconcile with his sisters for a third time and we get another Ami override through marriage proposal, I will switch sides and do my very best to get Ami killed.

Gods damn it, we have a really productive conversation with Keiko that makes solid strides in helping that situation and then it gets grued.

Clearly we need better lighting around here, the narrative is dark and likely to be eaten by a grue. Maybe if we lit everything on fire?

The original setting had us lighting up the darkness, but then it got grue'd into this setting.

HAZOU: (bursts into NOBURI'S PARENT'S house) I need to speak with--!
AMI: (sitting at the table sipping tea and hugging NOBURI'S SISTERS, looks up) ^_^

Oh no. I just realized that we never did get to punch Shikamaru. Neither for what he didn't do after the Tipsterator non-incident, nor for his slightly undiplomatic demeanour during Event Five. And now there's an entire new reason to do it, but he is going to get away without being punched by anyone at all, because he curb-stomped his first two opponents and then forfeited the moment he encountered one of us.

Damnation. I guess we'll have to be content with Keiko stabbing him in the documentation.

Wait, why do we want to punch Shikamaru again? I was more into being his senpai in how to interact with Keiko. :V

This was not the work of the grue (not that the grue has eaten anything, or indeed has ever existed). An event eaten by the grue has no longer ever happened. This event did not happen in the first place.

For the record, what's coming on Thursday was planned prior to this update, and thus should not be considered a replacement for/response to it.

[X] Action Plan: Punch yourself

Hazou punches himself so as to not be a hypocrite for wanting to punch Shikamaru due to his actions in an aborted timeline.

I don't want to punch Shikamaru. Please deduct whatever fraction of the hivemind I represent from the force of Hazou's punch.

(i.e. if I represent 3% of the current hivemind then have Hazou punch at 97% strength. Further declarations of I-never-wanted-to-punch-Shikamaru will continue to decrease this number)

Time to confess something to the Hivemind at large, I think.

I actually don't want to punch Shikamaru.

Punching is low status, and doesn't evoke the amount of... let's call it "Neji-respect"for us in him that I'd like.

Let's take after Jiraiya on this. The optimal solution is to toss Shikamaru straight through a wall. Anything good enough for the J man is good enough for us.

Now, if we get really creative we can perhaps combine this with the A rank strategy of "Subjecting the enemy lungs to an H2O-Hug." for massive trauma.

It says something awesome about this story that we need gradations of definition for the different types of non-existence.

Just remember to wash his hair as well, or we'll never hear the end of it.

Is the next update on Thursday or is EJ still putting out the "much shorter" replacement today.
