Ah. I don't actually remember the Shin conversations very well. The way people were talking about him it sounded like he was out to get us.
He is, though?

Edit: To clarify, the conversation between Hazou and Shin set up the "friendly rivalry", but the conversation within Team Downfall after the Second Event suggests that was a manipulation.

Edit: Guess we have to adopt Ami now.

Well if certain parties get their way *glances at @Oneiros* we'll end up betrothed to her. And I'm sure the QMs will laugh hysterically at us while we frantically dodge and dive between the political consequences.

He just thinks he's good enough to be our rival.

I feel so disappointed about this. Shin as I'm modelling him isn't even close to being our rival. He's just... a recurring annoyance. Honestly we're way more powerful when we're being proactive compared to when we're on the defensive, and so I think we should do something to make him not be even a slight threat anymore.

No. It's cause to see him excised from reality itself. :drevil:
Speaking of excising things from reality, the campfire story about the seal that violated causality has...implications. Seals are capable of manipulating time, at least theoretically. Whether it's possible to do without destroying the universe I have no idea.

We've discussed this at length, with the main take away being "don't open that can of worms deliberately, researching chronosealing just isn't worth the headaches".

I'd actually feel pretty bad for Ami if she wound up stuck with Hazō. As much as Hazō is a good kid, Ami is just on a whole other level ahead of him. Hazō can't possibly keep up with her. At least not without a few more years of experience, I think.

Probably wise. I guess we can leave it in the 'break glass in case of emergency' pile of things to look into if we get really, really desperate.

Oh, we should also probably keep an eye out for any evidence of somebody manipulating events by using seal-based time travel, just in case anyone else has figured it out. That'd be a nightmare.

...I probably shouldn't give the QM's ideas. Shutting up now.

Yeah, like if Kagome dies.

We're most powerful when we're willing to kill, though. We need to get better "fuck you you don't stand a chance" nonlethal options comparable to our lethal options.

Actually thats probably in the "Never touch ever, pile".

We have evidence for at least one supercompetent group of sealmasters with some sort of way to track anyone abusing sealing towards possibly catastrophic ends. I think this would very much fit in the category of "Thing they'd just kill you for merely looking into."

FYI: The forum staff consider it extremely impolite to double post (or triple post). I would edit your comments into one post to avoid their ire.

Yeah that is basically why I don't care about this arc very much. I honestly feel that everyone in the event is miles behind us. Caring about scoring well on exam doesn't have the same rush as drugging officials to change political policy. Or forging relationships with the mob. It's all just so petty. On top of that half the people think the exams are this huge important thing and I just feel like they are a waste of time

Oh, uh, have you heard at all about the plans in the works to feed Henge to a grue? That might be important to be aware of going forwards.

OK, fixed.

*tries to stifle laughter*

*glances at Hazou's multiple change-warfare-forever inventions*

*glances at Hazou's ascent from missing nin to prince of Konoha*

*fails to maintain straight face*

Sure, he can be clever, especially with out of the box thinking, thanks to the forum talking into his brain. But Hazo's just not that competent when it comes to a lot of slick human manipulation stuff. What we've seen of Ami makes me think of her as...well, terrifyingly competent in every way. Like 'I could manipulate everyone into making me the obvious choice for Kage in a few years, but I have better things to do' competent.

What, you mean besides Akatsuki?
Is there evidence that Akatsuki has time travel tech?

Wait, what?

I have considered that it could be really useful to find that original variant of the transformation technique that didn't have the safety feature of popping when the user was injured. It does need some other sort of safety feature to keep the user from accidentally getting locked into it, but I was thinking a timer would be better. A 12 hour limit or something. (Even better, a variable one you could set each time.) If you kept it as a secret technique you could 'prove' you weren't henged when you were actually henged. Stupidly useful.

You mean other than Shin?

e: ...I just thought of a hilarious thing we could do for the tournament:

  • Develop a seal that gets rid of one's shadow while acitve.
  • Put Banshee Slayers on shoes
  • Troll the fuck out of Shikamaru by running directly at him

1. Will result in a sealing failure, most likely. Perhaps we will permanently not have a shadow. Perhaps Shadow Hazou will replace us. Perhaps we'll just be pulled into the Out. Regardless, I don't think we've got the skill for this.
2. Why?
3. Hilarious, though he might not fall for it - yes, he may think we're some devious mastermind, but I doubt he lacks awareness that we can throw down. Of course, no guarantee we'll even end up in a match against him.
