Why don't we just bribe some academy students to help us make sure Lizardbreath caused a commotion. Most of them hate him and would love to see him embarrassed. As well as they won't have anywhere near enough xp to beat Hazō's deceit roll

Hmmm, what we want is for as many students and instructors as possible to see the state he's in. Maybe some kind of prank that would piss him off and force him to walk across the school in that state? Think either our team or the kids themselves can figure that out.

It's important to frame this in a way that doesn't reveal the whole thing is a setup to said kids. Hazou will need to Henge and hide his bandana, which is a bit risky, but acceptable. Might even be doable before we leave with the client, which is nice in terms of timing.

So, what should the deception be? Former student looking to get back at Lizardbreath?

(Chinese) fire drill. This being before the invention of the fire alarm, an actual fire will be necessary.

Everything felt so nice and reasonable a couple updates ago. How did we get from then to setting fire to the Mist ninja academy?

Oh well, if we're going to do nonsensical things, we may as well do them well. Here's a proposal for the academy student gambit:

  • Hazou wants to find some brave academy students and convince them to carry out a spectacular prank that would get Lizardbreath out of his office around the time he should be affected by the drug.
  • Henge into another Mist Chuunin candidate, bandana still on. Pick someone who actually exists if appropriate.
  • Look for victims in the academy vicinity, around the time they would be arriving for class.
  • Motivate the students with a combination of money and shared hatred for Lizardbreath.
  • The exact specifics of the prank in question are left up to Hazou and the students. It should ideally force Lizardbreath to traverse most of the academy while under the influence.
I'm going to be offline until around an hour before the deadline, so if you want this or other changes in the plan, copy it and vote for the new version.

This won't work, as there's a range limit on the 5SB support seals - they need to be a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 100 metres away from the central seal. This was in Augjev, and I'll make sure it gets added to the FtD doc.
I'm not entirely sure why this causes a problem...?

Let's please not. We don't have to go batshit insane with the plan.

[X] Action Plan: Aggre Followup

Proceed with this plan until prank effects or lack thereof are visible, or important info comes up.

1. Security measures for our sleeping quarters.
Windows and doors are sealed using 5SBs, these are recovered later. One person on watch at all times, perched outside on a roof with a good vantage point.

2. Lizardbreath Prank Followup

  • Message Jiraiya, informing him ofinfiltration success, ask if he hassuggestions on ensuring no coverup. Your idea is an anonymous tip from astudent. If he wants to do it himself or has specific instructions, follow them.
It should ideally force Lizardbreath to traverse most of the academy while under the influence

  • We're reporting to an authority outside of school that would make sense for anacademy student to pick. Mizukage office sounds like a safe default bet.
  • Report is carried out by Noburi, who creates a water clone, which dons face-concealing clothing and Henges (intentionally somewhat poorly) into astock character used for training it in the academy.
  • The clone drops off a note, and then dispels itself. Note reads "The headmaster is acting really strange. I'm afraid someone might get hurt. Please help." in rushed handwriting.
  • Time this to occur a little after the drug should take full effect on Lizardbreath, as per Noburi's estimate.
  • Once it looks like the prank is takingeffect, leave a message for the Yakuza, pointing out that the Mizukage is likely to clarify her stance on the legality of drugs in the coming days.
3. Carry out our bodyguard duties while waiting for prank results to manifest.
  • Use the previously established protocols for movement.
  • Leave Pandaa or a clone inside the palanquin if leaving it outside. Palanquin bearers instructed to keep an eye out and not leave.
  • Keep looking out for attempts to track us or other teams as potential targets.
  • Fate Point Declaration: We've established an info drop location to share with other Leaf Teams. Keiko checks it out when it's safe to do so.
  • If time permits, Keiko secures food according to the client's specifications and puts it in storage scrolls.
  • If the client wants to make riskier deals, object on the grounds of the recent attempt on her life. Request that she tell you where she wants to go and to whom she expects to sell, and schedule that for tomorrow.

I'm not sure what you think is batshit insane about this proposal. Would you mind elaborating your problems with it?
Lighting the academy on fire or participating in obvious pranks risks running face first into the "no fucking with Mist denizens" rules and getting us and every Leaf team kicked out of the chuunin exams.

e: Keep in mind that henge is very easily breakable by someone bumping into you on the street, and it's common for ninja to intentionally do so to random people.

Yes and if we where dealing with expirenced you would have a point. We are dealing with academy students

@Roomba (and @Oneiros since your plan included it) Just wanna make sure that when you send your clone from the Academy to the Mist building that it's 10 minutes apart (for an Academy Student). Since the "student" should be in class. Or are we timing it so they'd send it during recess?

So um...I'm not 100% sure we should or need to have a student pull the prank. I'd suggest that we pull the prank ourselves.

Reasoning: The student is very likely to get caught, and since we're wearing a bandanna a Chunin Exam contestant is going to be fingered. Mist contestants are unlikely since nobody could realistically expect them to decide to perform this level of sabotage during the middle of a crucial event. Thus the individuals involved want to benefit in the Exams (specifically this event) from Lizardbreath's paranoid meltdown. Once betel nut extract is determined to be the cause drug-peddling proctors, of which we are a group (probably the only group, for that matter), will be fingered.

Possible pranks:
  • Make a loud, but not damaging, racket outside of the Academy grounds. Maybe pay off a street band to play outside or something?
  • For that matter, pay off someone to do some flashy stuff where the kids could notice. Nothing that would require an interrogation, but something that would get Lizardbreath's attention.
  • Have Keiko use Zephyr's/Pangolin's Reach from a distance to mess with kids during recess/outdoor training. Do they bring their stuff with them, maybe we could hide their stuff or something? Or put something else in their stuff, like a bottle of beer or sake or whatever alcoholic beverage is common here.

@Velorien asked me to dig up the latest player-view rules doc, which I believe is this: Player View: Fated to Die Rules, 2018-01-18 We're going to attempt to finalize everything tomorrow and make sure that there is a known-good release.

On other topics, it's possible that I won't be able to do the chapter this weekend. I'll make an announcement one way or the other as soon as I know, but that probably won't be until Saturday evening. If I can't then there may or may not be a chapter before @Velorien's next drop on Thursday. I'm really sorry about that.

So, um.

May I suggest @OliWhail write a chapter? I know it's the obvious solution but I may as well ask...

We are going to be in public space for at least a significant portion of the day. For that matter, I don't know what you hope to accomplish by doing this? Like, he's going to be out and about in the academy regardless, and involving ourselves directly in antagonizing him could very easily get the kids hurt what with the paranoia betel extract causes.

[X] Action Plan: Conservative Followup

I kind of want to make a plan variant that instead asks the Yakuza to start the rumor mills going for re: him being a drug addict. But I'm a bit too sleepy to do that, so I'll settle.

Wait a second; does Keiko know Whispers one the Wind? Because if so, we just get her to hum near Lizardbreath's ear like laughing or singing children and let his paranoia do the rest as we move it all around the campus.
