@Cariyaga: in order:
  • Keep the emphasis on gliders, but specify that we're still on the lookout for ground approaches. If I understand correctly, living roots should detect earth jutsu that let users move underground, so have Hazou check occasionally (every 15 minutes?).
    • With Noburi, can he just keep it up indefinitely?
  • Specify that kawarimi targets are to be camouflaged.
  • Check to make sure Minami isn't on her way when we have the conversation.
    • Actually, if I understand correctly, prism plus lip-reading, which you'd assume she learned given the prism, means that she could still 'listen in' remotely? Not entirely clear what her bloodline does or what we know about it.
  • Specify that we check our character knowledge before asking questions
  • Maybe we don't have to prevent Minami from leveraging her knowledge. Her knowledge is bad, but that's already happened: the question we now have is whether the damage-minimizing course of action is to prevent her from leveraging it (as opposed to an alternative that is even more costly)
    • Personal favors, clan concessions, and specialized seals all have the potential to cost us more than Minami leveraging her knowledge
    • Marriage implies that we can't marry someone else (my understanding is that marriage itself is strictly monogamous in Leaf), which has small probability of being clan-endingly catastrophic and a high probability of trading off against a more-valuable marriage elsewhere.
    • Memory modification jutsu could be expensive, no guarantee the Yamanaka wouldn't be in cahoots with Minami's clan, no guarantee that the Yamanaka don't pay attention to the memories they purge and have an enormous blackmail compendium, involve another clan in our fuckup which, at the very least, reduces their trust in us and will likely cause them to throw Ino at us to weedle out more secrets and, like Oliwhail, I like blondes and don't want to have to give up on Ino quite yet.
    • A formal oath can only cost us Minami sneering at us for thinking that ninja would honor such oaths. I will leave the question of whether our experience with ninja so far should lead us to believe that they will honor such formal oaths.
  • We can refrain from asking Kagome, who has always been extremely skittish (even around Mari!) about his past, how his village handled it. We know about Mist, Akane knows about Leaf; this should be sufficient.
  • Have the romantic picnic either within sight (but far enough away they can't hear us) or make it a romantic dinner with candles (we sealed candles, because we sealed everything, right?) within the fortress.

[X] Action Plan: Respite Anew

  • General:
    • Stay on the quiet. We're supposed to not get noticed.
    • Stay under Henge. We are all (former) missing-nin and should any scouts see our position and decide to knock without our noticing they'll see our faces. And that would be bad.
      • Under our Henge, have face-concealing masks that keep our facial features hidden. These masks should be in the same style as those -- presumably -- used in Sand to protect from the, you know, sand.
    • Keep constant watches, both above (for any gliders Sand might have) and at ground level.
    • Establish escape routes, convenient (and camouflaged, as best we can) kawarimi targets away from the base.
    • Questions/statements are checked against Hazou's knowledge first.

  • Discuss the Mist Drain/Kagome Situation.
    • Discuss this while Minami isn't here, early in the day so she doesn't come back and misinterpret what we're saying.
    • How bad is this? What's our political standing with Minami's clan? Should we be afraid? Who can she leak this info to, besides her clan?
    • Minami knows Noburi's ace-in-the-hole, and has the ability to use this as leverage against Jiraiya's clan. We need to prevent this from happening.
      • What can we offer that could convince her to keep mum?
        • Personal favors, clan concessions, specialized seals?
      • Are there any memory modification jutsu she could voluntarily go through? (from Yamanaka or others)
      • Any oaths or formal agreements to discourage her from sharing this information?
      • Is it a good idea to try any of this to begin with? Mitigating it might be taken poorly or be seen as dispolitick.
    • Related topics of discussion:
      • What systems (in Konoha) exist to handle situations like this?
      • How did Mist handle this (do we know)? Does Kagome know of how this was handled from his time in the intelligence division?
      • Should we send a message to Jiraiya (via pangolin) to inform him of the situation/ask for advice?
      • Any other things we really shouldn't share with her?
        • Specific working of Keiko's bloodline?
        • Any seals?
        • Information about Pangolin/Summoning realm?
        • Anything from team's history?
        • Anything from/about Kagome?
    • Brainstorm how to make things up to Minami
      • Figure out what she likes, what her clan's position is, how to make things better.
        • Hazou would be willing to kit her out for other missions with seals
          • Probably something like four sets of Banshee Slayers and Banshee seals, 5 macerators at various settings, and 10 PMYF.

  • Talk with the rest of the team.
    • Keiko:
      • Discuss learning a medium-ranged weapon specialty when we return to Konoha.
        • Also suggest a possible bloodline-based combat style for her. This discussion may occur in the background.
          • Use CCnJ.
          • Note: We don't really know that much about its effectiveness in combat, but it's something that could be considered.
          • Reassure her that her current combat effectiveness and general worth as team member is not in question -- we're talking to Noburi about developing his own, too. We just want her to be even better.
          • If she questions her qualifications for this, remind her of the colossal growth she went through during our travels.
          • Make note of how impressive he found her back in Rice, and, more recently, with Kagome.
          • If Kei doesn't think a bloodline-based combat style is workable, Hazou has a few ideas for seals that could be integrated.
            • Before he gets into his ideas, does she have any to share?
            • She could work at using macerators to extend her range in interesting ways, or apply utility effects.
            • She could throw Banshee seals -- that wouldn't require any additional training.
            • Hazou had had the idea -- and he hasn't spoken to Kagome about this yet, so no promises -- of making force barrier seals that extend outward from shuriken.
            • Depending on how dev goes back at Konoha, maybe an impulse seal would be workable?
      • Suggest gathering information about local markets/cities.
        • Data about the market, city demographics.
        • It would take relatively little time and wouldn't draw attention to us, would it?
        • Her knowledge and abilities could allow to gather significant insights from this information.
        • Could be utilized to trade along the way.
          • Perhaps even buy our own telescope?
            • We do have Minami, but two telescopes are better than one. Also it's our own.
        • Is this a stupid idea? Is it likely Leaf would already have this information and we'd be wasting our time with it?
    • Noburi:
      • Discuss possible avenues of research for when we return to Konoha (or even before); let him mull them over. Hazou doesn't know what it's actually like to use Noburi's bloodline, so some of these suggestions may just be dumb. This discussion may or may not be in the background.
        • Utilizing Medical Ninjutsu or other techniques through his bloodline (ie, medical ninjutsu on someone anywhere within mist or water) if he thinks it possible.
        • Test if his bloodline has any additional abilities while using his chakra water as a vector for draining, etc -- if it does... well, it might be possible to develop a specialized seal to store and then misterator it. No promises there, though.
        • Draining techniques or chakra boost as they are used -- could be dangerous to experiment with.
        • Does draining someone dry help train their chakra reserves (is it dangerous to use in this way? Noburi would probably know)?
        • Do civilians have bloodlines that they can't access? Noburi might be able to learn to use medical ninjutsu to check for this.
        • What does he think of using miniscule amounts of chakra water to teach civilians to access their chakra? May be too dangerous, but maybe with research...?
      • Talk about potential combat styles combining his bloodline with Water Whip/Water Clone. This discussion may occur in the background.
        • Any synergy with seals or traps?
          • Skywalkers and clones (assuming there clones could use them) could allow complete 3D surrounding of the enemy.
            • Does kawarimi disrupt his techniques? It would improve his mobility on the battlefield drastically .
          • Pre-prepared misterators along with wires;force walls;explosives could box an enemy in, allowing for a quick draining.
        • Could we improve the misterators?
          • Poison the mist, increasing it's offensive potential?
            • Tunneler's Friend could be useful here. Or we could try immunizing the team to specific poisons?
          • Mix something with mist, making it harder to see through?
          • Combine with seal sucking out air a for maximal humidity and deadliness?
    • Akane: Have a romantic picnic.
      • Ask -whoever's in charge while Minami's away- if it's OK for us to spend some picnic time with Akane.
        • If this is veto'd ignore the "leave the base" part and just spend time with Akane inside the base.
      • Get some chocolate (from Kagome) & iced drinks.
      • Set up somewhere with a nice view within sight of the base -- or make a place atop the base to rest. Don't go too far from the team; we're supposed to stay on the quiet.
        • Also make sure the place doesn't risk us getting spotted. No risking opsec or safety for datetimes.
      • Play the flute. Tears of Red, anyone?
      • Catch up a bit more since our last conversation.
      • Watch the sunset (if applicable).
    • Kagome:
      • Discuss the method we used to escape the Mountain-nin cave (specifically, using Force Walls to direct an explosion). Ask if it's possible for us to develop combat weapons around this.
        • Obviously, do not do actual testing right now. This is theoretical discussion only.
        • Maybe stuff an implosion seal down a 5SB'd airtight tube? It could probably propel something pretty fast, though it'd need to be against a stationary target.
      • Ask Kagome how he'd go about breaking Jiraiya's spy network if he were to need to. Approach it as an intellectual challenge.
        • Hazou was considering suggesting to the team (and Minami) to check Jiraiya's network for being compromised -- how would he suggest going about that?

  • Research & Training:
    • Study some seals (Make sure Kagome clears it first):
      • Basic seals from the Nara Library.
      • Beginner seals from Jiraiya.
      • Mountain-nin seals. Take a look at these with Kagome to figure out what they do since we don't have the time to set up research facilities.
    • Ask Noburi/Keiko for some Diplomacy training, since we clearly need help with our mouth.
    • Do some basic training with the Seal Rings & Macerators, such that we can use them in combat.
  • Minami:
    • When she returns, assuming that other team members do not veto it, ask her opinion on the following:
      • Checking the Hokage's network for being compromised
        • Given that speed was a key factor in his assignment, he may not want us to do this on this pass, but it costs little to pass this request along in our daily report
      • Spending some time at each town we visit getting a handle on their market information and demographics, etc.
    • We wanted to get her input and go-ahead before we sent back for the Hokage's permission for this.
  • The Mission: Continue it, assuming there is nothing immediately requiring input.
Nothing changed from Faflec's old plan yet. Youth colored changes. Second set of updates in a bluer shade of youth. More edits!
And another!

Going to sleep shortly. Someone please look over the plan and make sure I'm not going to kill us all (again).

Tsukuyomi temporal acceleration. Canon doesn't set any upper limit on it, and because it's the Sharingan, it's plausible for it to be broken as heck, so you can totally fit infinity into the lifespan of the sun.
... It's probably a bad sign that I'm starting to incrementally support the Eye Of The Moon plan again isn't it? I mean, infinite time at maximum hedons is for all intents and purposes a win condition, so...

Guys? I'd like to notice that Hazou's getting all the pressure in our team, due to him being the default go-to leader of the team, no matter what. I know that 'Minami is the leader in this mission' but it doesn't work like that, Because as we saw, no matter What happens, everything defaults to our decision. Kagome wants to blow-up minami? Hazou says no, and kagome bursts in tears begging for forgivness. Shit goes down during a mission? Hazou Saves the fucking day after an attempt to go out without chaos(which was actually caused by Mari-sensei refusing to go with the plan) (The Cold Stone Killers incident).

Hazou pretty much saves the day each time something goes wrong, has the position in other peoples hearts and minds, which gives him the final say in every action, and he works Extra time to make sure everyones issues are worked out before something bad happens.

And the worst part is - We never get the recognition, AND when something goes to shit, we get blamed for EVERYTHING that went wrong. We are regarded by the others like the All-Knowing Leader who can never go wrong, meaning that any time something goes bad in our plan, either others deem it as planned, or blame everything on us, with minimal input from others.

so, i'll give you a new plan. Tell me if it's how you do the plan thingy.

[X] Action Plan: No Blaming Hazou!

  • General:
    • Make sure the team knows the increasing stress placed upon you, and how it makes it hard to not make mistakes.
    • Point out that, somehow, Hazou seems to be the go-to for plans and choices - A leader if you might. let Noburi or Keiko make the plans and pull leadership for the upcoming week or more.
      • Make sure we're ready to jump in if somehow, a mission of sending mail turns into Armagedon, to try n' make it better(open for discussion on what's regarded as better...).
    • Plan the Birthday for Akane, since you got time now. Get a cake or something, find a bar, make a pretty box for the present you got. Make sure to add in some convenient ninja equipment. Missing-nin style.

  • Special additions:
    • Point out that we let Minami go out alone. Make sure to stess the issue that It's not safe for Minami to do so.
    • Make sure that everyone doesn't trust Minami as much as we have. She's not someone we know for a long time, and even though Jiraya trusts her, it doesn't mean we should before making sure ourselves. We are neither connected by bad circumstances, family bonds or situation. The only thing that connects us is the Mission and vague connections with Jiraya, ours being the stronger ones.
      • Boils down to making sure she doesn't go alone somewhere, and that we keep an eye on her.
      • Set up safety measures in case she gets swapped up for someone else. We don't know her a lot, and she's the easy target to swap with.
      • She's of a different clan. Her position here might give them an adventage against the Hokage's Clan. find out how to make it safer, by finding a hook on Minami. (Mari system of safety by swapping info).
    • Make Sure above points were tackled before Minami comes back.
    • Tell Minami after she comes back, that although we(Hazou) are sorry of how we placed her in danger, she shouldn't blame our side for everything. as a leader, she should've been self conscious enough to speak of the OPSEC issue before the dangerous situation, as she DID notice that it was the kind of secret that shouldn't have been spread.
      • Make a big talk by the fire about OPSEC, how we (Hazou) breached it, and efficient ways to stop such situations from happening due to getting comfortable with speaking of secrets in a trusted team.
      • Propose to shut up for most of the time, when in proximity with other, unknown or untrusted people to make sure OPSEC is kept by us.

  • Personal talks:
    • Talk with Kagome:
      • Work out Kagome's issues, teach him to talk first when he sees an issue and its in team environment(A problem between team members), and only later, when necessary and with clearence to use explosives.
      • Make sure he knows, that altough he's important for us, he also has to try to fit with the others, so as to make it easier for us to keep him with us without endangering others.
    • Talk with Noburi:
      • Stress the importance of finding new things to do with his already vast and useful skills, as we know that his bloodline is incredibly versitile.
      • Say sorry about the lapse in OPSEC. Yes. Again.
      • Ask Noburi to help you find better ways to keep OPSEC.
    • Talk with Keiko:
      • Say sorry for not pushing the plans throug her first.
      • Point out that she'd be far better at finding good plans, and hard to spot problems in them, which mari noticed before and encouraged Keiko to do.
      • Notice, that breaches in OPSEC during team meetings that we didn't notice should be taken up as quickly as possible, even if the time seems improper, it should be done before something bad may happen due to that.
        • Make sure Keiko knows, that since Minami's a team leader, and if a breach in OPSEC happened, meaning she knows something which she shouldn't would mean that tackling that issue wouldn't break that exact OPSEC.
    • Talk with Minami:
      • Stress the issue of her being the team leader, and how she should build trust. Her using a joking, yet real threat against us doesn't do that.
      • Point out that she doesn't act like a real team leader in our eyes. Once again say that she should've pointed out the Breach in OPSEC before we went on the mission, and tackled the possible unrest in the team.
      • Say that we ARE really sorry, as for now, it seems like the team still defaults to us (Hazou) as the unspoken Team leader, making it so that she has much lower trust from the team, and there isn't as much importance placed upon her role in the team than there should be, leading to the situation in which Kagome attempted murder.
      • Stress the point that Kagome lived alone for a lot of time, and safety of the only people he trust is his utter and complete Objective Number one. It is a thing that might endanger others, but it also shows his loyality, and that we(as a team) shouldn't have been so harsh on him, Although we(Hazou) understand that it was a dangerous and wrong thing to happen.
      • Say sorry again before ending the talk.
    • Talk with Akane:
      • Romantic time.
      • Play some flute.
      • Ask about if she has any doubts or issues, and that we need to always work them out as fast as possible
      • Ask if she likes jewelery.
      • Point out that you hope that everything ends happily.
      • Look pensively towards the setting sun and say that you hear voices since the infusing accident.
        • Say that they try to help achieve his goal and make our(Hazou's) team, friends and family safe, and even though they are wise, they can't tell some things, and make mistakes.
        • Tell Akane you had to tell her this, to make sure she knew everything about him.
      • Say sorry for being a dick and uncarefull.
      • Ask if she still wants to be your girlfriend.

Sky colored text has been shamelessly ripped off.

@Cariyaga Kagome explaining how he would break apart Jiraiya's spy network sounds like a recipe for dangerous misunderstanding. I would rather do it in the presence of Minami.

Jiraiya: So. You want to say, that you decided to delay an important courier mission, to check the corruption of my intelligence network. The network which I have built and maintained over the years, which you only got a few shallow contacts from.
Hazō: Um...
Jiraiya: Not only that, you decided to conduct this mission without your team's only infiltration specialist, and under the command of a leader you hadn't even known until now.
Hazō: That is...
Jiraiya: All which lead to you blowing the cover and brain of my main contact in Sand, who was my cousin, I might add. Also, your "investigation" alerted local authorities, leading to yet another diplomatic incident.
Hazō: Ah...
Jiraiya: And on top of that, when "checking his coworkers integrity", our esteemed college announced that "those stinkers are full of crap" and decided to level the whole building he was in. The building, which I might add, contained half of Sand's secret documents we managed to gather thus far. The building which also contained several priceless potteries, ones dating from the time of Sage of Six Paths?
Hazō: Ummm... yes?
Jiraiya: ...
Hazō: ...
Jiraiya: Kid. Running a spy network is a very delicate job. Just leave handling it to the professionals.

That should sum up what I think about trying to fix a professionals work.

We're asking both the team and Jiraiya before doing anything of the sort.

We're asking both the team and Jiraiya before doing anything of the sort.
And I am writing for the outcome of an actual attempt, in alternate universe where that decision was somehow accepted. Perhaps being a bit too harsh, but I wanted to accentuate the fact that in event of disaster it would be our fault.

Only if it has an infinite scalar, and I don't think even the Ten-Tails has that much chakra.

'Maximum hedons' isn't my win condition, so no. It'll only work if we find a way to ensure the afterlife exists, is morally perfect, and vastly outcompetes all other possible universes for probability space.

If making MEW on opponent bodies was possible, Id presume it would be a very high priority technique for everyone with Earth affinity, and would not have been casually traded to us.

If I were to hazard a guess, anything with the ability to control its own chakra system can automatically detect the attempt and auto-dispel. Like a Will save against an unknown mind control attempt with a ludicrously friendly modifier.
We're demonstrably better than Jiraiya at finding surprising new uses for old knowledge. Skywalkers, anybody?

As for the second point, next time we're in a fight and it's safe enough to do so, capture an enemy alive and try it out. If it doesn't work, just switch to having the granite erupt from his shirt.

We don't need to perform cruel and unusual tortureexperiments on people right away. We should definitely try it on chakra beasts, though.

Fine, start with animal experimentation--but you've got to move to people before you try it in actual combat. Maybe volunteer to help out in T&I?

And let's not beat around the bush. Of course it's torture.

We could also just go with having the granite erupt from the enemy's clothing or gear into his body.

Whichever part of the body is most useful--if we want to keep him potentially useful for the future, spear his hands, making him unable to fight or do hand signs but able to talk. If we want him to talk, but are going to kill him afterwards, go for the belly or genitals. If we want an instant kill, well, that's what his heart and brain are for. We could also sever his spinal column if we're okay with granting him instant anesthesia from the point of severance down.

I'm getting flashbacks to class with Quirrelmort...

Wait. Quirrelmort... QM. This is not a coincidence because nothing is ever a coincidence.

Quirrelmort was 100% evil, but there's no question that he knew his stuff. Put another way, war is hell. Let's us be the demons and the enemy be the suffering sinners.

No such thing as evil. He was a sociopath, certainly. That's not exactly something I aim for :p
We'll have to agree to disagree about the "no such thing as evil" thing. In any event, without wanting to become him, let's weaponize MEW all we can, because the more ways we have to make our enemies dead, the less chance they'll have to make us dead. Or worse.
