The problem is that the mine dampens sound within the area of effect; your proposal would suggest that Awareness checks would have to be made in the area to get the -3 debuff.

Silence Mine can be seen as a combination of two effects. The first is that it eliminates incoming sounds, and the second is that it eliminates sounds produced from within the radius. You could justify both +3 Stealth and -3 Awareness, but the way outgoing sounds are neutralized as they're produced means that the people in the area actually are sneakier.

Why would it do that? The technique can only path on the ground, not in the air. We already went over this in the chapter where we test our macerators with Jiraiya.
So, on the whole, was the one that got us killboxed.

Not sure where you are getting that with out talk with Jiriyia. There was a ruling saying substitutin didn't work but no mention of vacuum step.
