In fairness, I would be very surprised if the kage hats didn't have some form of sealcraft on them...

We should also ask his birthday. I mean, we can look it up online but the team can't.

We were supposed to ask him in Chapter 118, though I don't know if @eaglejarl actually did it or not since it doesn't look like he noted it in the miscellaneous section.

oh ffs Naruto's birthday is Oct 10 WE NEED A BIRTHDAY PRESENT WE HAVE A MONTH LEFT PANICCCCCCCCC

Get him a gift certificate to Ichiraku Ramen. Or have Kagome prepare him his famous Wild Man's Ramen, made from worms!

Assuming we have the chance to get to know him a bit between now and then, it'd probably be cool to get him something representative of a family bond, since he's a godsibling now.

Again, Hazō isn't comfortable with Jiraiya as his parent, so it would be better to consider him a disreputable uncle. That said, I totally want to have Naruto join our clan.

Unlikely Naruto will be able to join the clan for political reasons.

Anyway, of course Hazou doesn't see Jiraiya as a father but that doesn't mean he can't treat Naruto like family.

Depends. Does he already have a clan? If not, Jiraiya's the closest he's got. And hey, really good excuse for a powergrab way to make Naruto's life just a bit better probably. I'm guessing he's about as isolated as Sasuke, and for similar reasons; orphaned, effectively clanless but still head-and-shoulders above his peers in power, and a fair bit of his tragic backstory is highly classified. Dunno how that would gel with his trickster persona, but worth thinking about.

Hazō digested that. "I see. Um, okay." He shook himself and took a breath to center. "I had a few things I thought you should know, sir." He pulled a sheaf of papers out of his beltpouch and nervously squared them up, only to pause when Jiraiya started laughing.

"Sir?" Hazō asked nervously.

The Sannin got himself under control and wiped his eyes. "Wow. Young kid, sitting there looking all nervous and telling me that he had a few things I should know? For a moment I was looking for blond hair, but then you called me 'sir'. Anyway, what was it?"
Pretty sure Naruto doesn't have a trickster persona. Unless he's talking about Minato?

For what it's worth, I interpreted that as Naruto confessing pranks to Jiraiya.

In other news: I highly doubt we'll get anything to do with Naruto because Jiraiya hasn't brought him up to us, and Jiraiya seems to be doing everything in his power to help us and be associated with us, which would likely include introducing us to his nephew if that were in the cards. That and the fact that Naruto is possibly Leaf's only wmd mean that he probably doesn't get out much (or, rather, may be out virtually all the time).

Naruto is definitely a trickster in canon. He defaced the hokage monument after all.

This probably doesn't happen in the MfD universe, though he could still be a prankster.
Canon Naruto pranks people to get noticed by people, since he doesn't want them to hate him/ignore him for his jinchuriki status.

MfD Sarutobi would never have revealed this status and would certainly have let decent ninjas raise him. Like Jiraiya, Naruto's godfather (and who apparently knows the kid beyond their canon interactions). Thus Naruto's desire to prank others would have no reason to manifest.

Or who knows.

Anyone wants to estimate the size of the Elemental Nation, at least continental?

The EN probably fits a larger globe.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are other major landmasses, though it seems that we're the only continent that have summoning scrolls.

Also, I appear to have missed a quote -- someone was asking about the size of the EN but I didn't get the link. Apologies. Anyway, the map looks to be about 900 miles high and about 1350 miles wide. I got those numbers by zooming in until the 150-mile scale was the length of my thumb and then counting thumb lengths, so I'm undoubtedly off by a bit. Still, it's tiny.

For comparison, the state of Texas is 790 miles long and 660 miles wide at its widest point. Alaska is 808 miles wide by 1479 miles high.

Notes from previous discussion

I agree. Unfortunately, we have settled in Leaf before we were able to properly explore the world. I suggest we ask Jiraiya about if there are things outside the Elemental Nation, and, if so, what they are.

Kagome: Lupchanz bases, Hidden Depths, *starts ticking off increasingly horrible things on his fingers*...

Hazou: *taking notes*

Mari: *glares at Hazou*

Also, @OliWhail re your sig: "Marked for Death: Not a threat to civilization, we promise." I have no memory of making such a promise.

Edit: desperately hopes nobody drags up a quote of me promising such a thing.

I'd kinda like Jiraiya and Kagome to cross check each other. I assume that both have incorrect information.
I'd rather think both of them have the correct information, they're just interpreting it...differently.

Like Kagome is Xenophilius Lovegood getting vague prophecies from his daughter and deciding to claim "HARRY POTTER GETS DRACO MALFOY PREGNANT". Meanwhile, Jiraiya is Dumbledore.

On the other hand, a pre-teen boy thinking it's hilarious to prank people is hardly something that needs complex psychological justification. Maybe not to the defacing monuments level, but the 'putting erasers above door to fall on teacher's head" level seems more than possible.
