(EDIT: There's no way to directly determine if a place has high chakra concentration, but you found 2 areas with high concentrations of chakra beasts similar to the Swamp of Death. Details TBD when you decide to act on the information.)
Pinging @Velorien @Paperclipped

We're on the hunt for combat unstagnations so this might be an interesting thing to toss our way.

@MMKII had a really interesting idea for a reward. A fruit or edible object that gives you another elemental nature (or makes one easier to learn by lowering the cost). There are ways to game this so that it's not setting breaking.

Isolated location, dangerous chakra beasts nearby, fruit can't be stored, only a small number of fruit and they ripen irregularly, etc

You could also do something similar with a fruit that helps you train your CR, matching XP spent for the next 250 XP invested or something. Or maybe one that improves your regeneration? So we have extra chakra to toss at Nobs? Niche enough that it hasn't been hunted to extinction but still useful.

Stuff like that can be cool rewards for us going and doing dangerous/interesting stuff without breaking character.

High Environmental/Nature Chakra Locations
- The Swamp of Death
- Two TBD locations from chapter 398
- O'Uzu Great Spirit Cave
- Crags of Doom in Mountain
- The Caverns of Mild Peril in Honey
- The Forbidden Dungeon on Crimson State Island
- Mount Certain Death to Any Fool Who Dares Approach in Snow
- The Travelling Island in the Nanmen Ocean
- West of Wind (Entire border?)

Bolded the list of chakra dense locations we have not particularly explored in any way. Arguments can be made we have not thoroughly explored any of them but I think the Swamp of Death , Caverns of Mild Peril, and O'Uzu Great Spirit Cave are nonstarters at the moment.

It may be worth checking out the Crags of Doom while we're on this side of the continent if the squad still needs combat unstags.

Everyone takes a turn, repeating over the course of several days/weeks
Specifying the desired timeline for this update will probably be important.

Especially since we can finally start in on the Akane Memorial Initiative for General Investigations into Veterancy and Expertise for Exploiting Localized Or Remote Explosions research agenda (AMI GIVE LORE Research Agenda, for short).

AMI GIVE LORE mostly just focuses on remote explosion runes for now, but hopefully we will find quick success and branch out into other research paths.

Prompted by Paper on Discord, I'm asking if it would be possible for Hazou to assess the feasiblity of taking a Rune to the Seventh Path via Reverse Summon. He's completed 10+ runic research projects and has effective PS 57, nearly jounin level.

So, combined with his Summoning training I think he should be qualified to assess whether it's theoretically possible to take an infused rune with him when he Reverse Summons.

If he's not, would he need to take a day or two to assess it via the prep day mechanic? Or is there no recourse here? He could make a PS roll against a TN if that suits you guys better.

We don't know the desired timeline because we don't know the mechanics of Medknow research. I've pinged the QMs for a soft/temporary ruling, but it was only a few hours ago.

If we get to Tuesday afternoon without a response, I'll change it to something like "an extra few weeks" or something.

Given the state of the Rift Race, it might be more prudent to specify the initial set of tests to be done during one Rune research cycle, and then see how the simulation is going to handle Medknow research. It would be a shame to timeskip "weeks" into a research protocol that would have benefitted from Hivemind meddling.

E.G. Maybe Noburi would consider doing a double-blind test between Chakra Cave Water and Barrel Water before his test subjects learn how Chakra Cave Water tastes / affects their coils etc.

Sure, type up a suggestion and I'll splice it in.

[] Action Plan: It's No Beach Episode, But It'll Do
[/b]

Changes suggested in bold.
  • Intended Duration: One DoB research Cycle
    • Runic Research: [tbd]
  • Secure the pool, close off any deeper tunnels with ES/MEW, and set up a trap perimeter outside the cave.
  • Use ES to study the cave with the chakra pool.
    • Pay attention to any unexpected interactions of ES with the chakra in the earth away/near/in/under the pool, and any potential differences thereof.
  • Noburi, using Vampiric Dew, and Hazou, using both chakrascope and MS8...
    • Examine everyone's chakra system and chakra regeneration, before/during/after they step into the pool.
      • Everyone takes a turn, repeating over the course of several days/weeks, to maximize data points (NB: timeladdering/prep days as much as Noburi's stats allow)
        • Except for Noburi, if he thinks his bloodline would interact dangerously with the pool.
      • Suggest an experiment where Mari administers Chakra Cave Water or Chakra Barrel Water to volunteer while Noburi observes volunteer's Chakra system without knowing what treatment is being given
    • Test to see if resting in the pool (open tenske-whatevers) allows for Noburi to more easily drain someone.
    • Does Noburi think he could replicate this with his bloodline/medical ninjutsu?
    • Does Hazou think he can replicate this with Runecrafting?
  • Look for any fungi and plants with medical properties.
    • Suggestion for saving QM Spoons: provides a taggable Aspect ("Medicinally-relevant plants") on Mednin rolls? One tag per Mednin roll, and then the amount we harvest corresponds to the amount of rolls we can use them on?

(Well, mostly. The team had passed one trio of migrating trees on the way here, and given them a wide berth.)
Umm, that's a new one. Interesting.

"You don't even know what she told me, how can you know they were lies?"

"Because I know Mari and she absolutely would not miss a chance to prank me."

"Hm. A pity. I was quite impressed with the idea that you set up an education program for the younglings of your pack, then opened it to other packs."

"Wait, really? That one is actually true, it's called—"

"Now, now, Summoner. Don't try to take unearned credit. You already said it was all lies, you can't walk it back just because one of the lies was pretty."

"No, really, it's true!"

"Of course it is. Now, as I was saying, the scouting was informative. A surprising number of creatures in the area given the conditions. Mostly bugs and lizards of various kinds, many of them quite delicious. I recommend avoiding the snakes with the red and green markings; they can spit their acid quite a distance."
Mari Secret Technique: Reverse Pranking!

"Gōketsu Noburi," Naruto said gravely. "Lead Doctor Senju has come to me with a most serious statement about your behavior as a medical professional."

Noburi forced himself to keep calm, not summon his Water Whip and brace for attack, and not run for his life before he could be thrown into a killbox. Damn it, Hazō was supposed to be the treason dragon in the family!
Fair. I hate it when I accidentally commit treason and get thrown into a killbox. It tends to ruin my day.

She paused, then shook her head and, in a move so bizarre that it made Noburi want to check her ears for lupchanzen, she smiled. It was a very, very small smile and it existed mostly on half her face rather than dare to attempt proliferation, yet still it was a smile.
*Screaming in Lupchanz Conspiracy*

"Thank you so much, Lord Hokage. I did not expect this."
Yay Nobs! Finally following in our footsteps. I wonder when Kei will make Special Jōnin.

Noburi shook himself out of the pleasant memory and nodded. "Yup. Commencing Operation 'Mist Drain All the Monsters to Death Instead of Going in There Like Real Ninja' now, sir!"
Hey now, real ninja cheat. Like we're doing now.

Cave of Somewhat Mild Peril, Part 3
"Noburi? You ready?" Hazō asked.

Noburi shook himself out of the pleasant memory and nodded. "Yup. Commencing Operation 'Mist Drain All the Monsters to Death Instead of Going in There Like Real Ninja' now, sir!"

Hazō looked narrow-eyed at him, clearly taking note of the barb. Still, he said nothing. There were too many other things to do, like set up barricades across any side passages and set up skylslicers by the door and then flooding the cavern with smoke to drive animals out and through the 'slicers. All in all, it should make the cave exploration at dull as possible. Dull was good; especially as a sealmaster, Hazō thought dull days were the best days. Once the caves were secured the team could have fun and excitement researching the magical pool that had brought them here. Until then, dull was good. wen road

I'll have you know I was awarded 1XP for this chapter.
But seriously I can't do an omake riff on this. It's too sensible.

For the love of christ, please don't blindly use ES unless you both want and have planed to make contact with the cave entity.

Based on the previous chakra cave, it mostly acted as a normal cave until Hazou started to seized control over a section of it with the Earthshapeing Jutsu, at which point, it acted threatened/alarmed, spawned golems, ect. These golems won initiative, but did not attack until Hazou called for the team to open fire(which he did as soon as his turn was up). Then, even after the team disengaged, the cave still continued to interfeer with them in odd ways that indicate great control over it's domain(rehapeing itself or changeing our unsummoning location).

Thus, based on our best sample:
  • The cave isn't hostile unless we use ES on it, at which point it freaks out.
  • If the cave fraks out, it might not be outright hostile. if we can communicate, it could be a ally or source of lore.
  • If the Cave reacts to ES by spawning golems, Hazoupilot will, by default, imediately pick a fight with those golems, even if thay aren't attacking.
  • Even if we do defeat the golems, the cave has strange powers and extensive conterol over the enviroment, and can continue to attack and harrass us 24/7.

I stongly suggest that we don't try ES untill we clear out the normal chakra monsters, and that when we do, we start outside the magic cave, and slowly mingle ES with the edge of the weird cave, adanveing very slowly utill we get a reaction. This should help us make peaceful contact with a valuebale lore soure, rather than making a powerful enemy obstructing a vital resource.

And no matter what approach we take, if we use ES, it should include a line like: "if the cave reacts or spawns golems, Uplift should try to make peacful contact"

Thank you.

My goodness that sound fun!

I'd love to do a Dragon Quest style dungeon raid where we attempt to find special fruit, constantly battling monsters that themselves have eaten from it and are extra dangerous as a result.

I'm going to echo my support for that. Sounds super fun, even for @eaglejarl, Lord of Punching.

Every Consequence has an associated TN. A typical Mild Consequence may have a TN of 10, a typical Moderate a TN of 20, and a typical Severe a TN of 30 – but the chosen TN of a Consequence is always at the QM's discretion.

By default, medical care takes "a few hours" to apply to a particular Consequence, and can only be done once per Consequence per day. Medical care can be time-laddered up twice for Mild Consequences and once for Moderate Consequences

Assist the body's natural healing processes, allowing the patient to recover from physical Consequencesmore quickly or to recover from maluses which would not normally recover. The TN is set by the type of injury. For each day of care, roll both MedNin and MedKnow.
  • If the MedKnow roll succeeds, heal the patient by twice the number of shifts on your MedNin roll. This cannot worsen the patient's condition
Pinging also @eaglejarl @Velorien

Rules question about the new healing rules. Can Noburi apply mednin in the field to completely clear Mild Physical Consequences?

My thought process - if the Consequence clears when 20 shifts have been applied to it and Noburi can apply that many shifts in a single session would the Consequence clear immediately?

Case in point, imagine a bog standard Mild Consequence with TN10/20 shifts. Inflicted in the field, so Noburi is only using Vampiric Attunement. He timeladders this up twice, so treatment takes "half an hour".

Noburi auto-passes the Medknow roll, amd rolls 60 (Mednin) + 4 (VA) - 14 (timeladder) + 4FD = 50 + 4FD

Generating 14 shifts vs TN 10 on neutral rolls. That heals 28 shifts, enough to clear the Mild.

My question then, is the Mild completely gone? That would mean Hazou (it's always Hazou) could pick up multiple Milds over the course of a dungeon dive, only ever stopping if he took a Medium. Just resting 1/2 hour to be healed each time while Nobs clears the Milds.

You Declared that you had a copy of the Akatsuki dossier on hand for 1 FP. Naruto was delighted to receive such valuable intel, but the building mood of camaraderie died an icy death when he realised that you'd failed to do the thing that should be obvious to any loyal Leaf ninja and pass it on to the Tower the instant you got it.
@eaglejarl @Paperclipped @Velorien

I am a tad confused. This was a dossier that was transcribed by Kabuto, who after last time Hazō would never assume not to be a loyal Leaf ninja. Frankly, Hazō must have been utterly shocked to hear that Naruto didn't already have a copy of this!

What exactly is the Tower upset about?

EDIT: Yes, I know this is completely irrelevant and old. I just thought it was funny.
