Suggestion for a revised research section below. Comments/concerns/word count optimizations welcome!

  • Research
    • Kagome: Banshee Fuckers
      • Thank him. His recent research hasn't been glamorous, but he's been keeping us all alive, like always.
    • Hazō:
      • Research:
        • DotB: TR150, full prep, reroll for safety.
        • DotB: Force Domes if "well within", else pivot to Remote Explosion Rune.
        • Make sure SCs use the pool on infusion days.
        • Infuse a TR125 outside the cave to do prep days in.
      • Prep any ideas Hazōpilot has to replicate the pool's effects.
        • Examples: Water Rune, Chakra Soothing Rune, Soothing Field Rune
      • With free days, research Space Stretch (no DotB, no prep) and prep [prep days]
Motivation for this; we're on a timer. The time we've already spent chasing this cave without doing much research is bad enough, I'd strongly prefer that we start researching our runes as early as possible.

On that note, could I also suggest that you put a timer on the plan, e.g. "one DotB research cycle"? I've written this research section with that in mind; it would give us the opportunity to look at the candidates we get for replicating the pool and decide which to research, and we can't risk researching any of them in non-DotB tracks for at least the first cycle even if they come back as "well within".

Edit: Cut the "full prep" requirement, since that's now 6 days for us, which is probably more than we need.

right, the pool and chakra drain will hopfully let us multi-track research.
how's this?
[x] Action Plan: Investigating The Cave
Words: (to be optimized to <299)
  • Optimize with Team Uplift
  • Secure the pool, close off any deeper tunnels with MEW+traps, and set up a trap perimeter outside the cave.
  • Noburi, using Vampiric Dew, and Hazou, using both chakrascope and MS8...
    • Examine everyone's chakra system and chakra regeneration, before/during/after they step into the pool.
      • Everyone takes a turn, repeating over the course of several days/weeks, to maximize data points (NB: timeladdering/prep days)
    • Does Noburi think he could replicate this with his bloodline/medical ninjutsu?
    • Does Hazou think he can replicate this with Runecrafting?
    • Test to see if resting in the pool (open tenketsu) allows for Noburi to more easily drain someone.
  • Look for any fungi and plants with medical properties.
    • Suggestion for saving QM Spoons: provides a taggable Aspect ("Medicinally-relevant plants") on Mednin rolls? Max one tag per Mednin roll, number of tags based on the amount we harvest?
  • Once Hazou&Noburi have finished studying the pool, Use ES to study the cave itself.
    • Start slowly from the edge of the cave, and gently work inward.
    • If the cave reacts, makes golems, ect, try to make peaceful contact.
      • Brainstorm ideas on how to do this.
        • We could.... give them cool rocks?
        • Try very gently mingling ES with its domain to communicate. the jutsu give weird impressionist feedback sometimes.
      • If necessary, back off and try another approach.

Seems good - I'd still argue for a duration cap. Also, I forgot we already learned Space Stretch, so that needs cutting - not sure there's anything else we have that's worthwhile and likely safe to no-DotB-no-prep, though. Air Leadening or Chakra Mapping, maybe?

Force Domes are a "maybe", we did a prep day before.
They were a "maybe" when we had PS at 44 or whatever it was then. Given that our PS is now 57, I think it's pretty likely they'll have shifted to a "within".

Timed Explosive Rune
An Explosive rune with a variable timer. the timer dosen't need to be very precise, but it should a have long fuse.
The intention is to bury this alongside our other runes when we leave a research site, blowing up the leftover runes once their duration has expired.

Hazō:
  • Research:
    • DotB: TR150, full prep, reroll for safety.
    • DotB: Force Domes.

      • When Hazoupilot finishes other runes, he can start researching these.
  • With free days, research Delayed Explosive Rune (no DotB, no prep) and prep [prep days]
current Hazou research section.
still pretty rough, so happy for feedback.

I'll consider it, but I'm worried it might make for a pretty boring update.

Fair, but I don't think it's worth doing another prep day on them to confirm this. Unless we can figure it out from actually attempting the rune?
My assumption was we'd be doing prep days to research it, to sync with TR150 if nothing else. We've seen before that Hazou still gets difficulty estimates from actual prep days.

@Sir Stompy That was my fault, sorry - realised shortly after posting.

current Hazou research section.

Can I suggest researching the Chakra Mapping Rune before Timed Explosive? It occurs to me that a rune which reveals chakra distribution in the environment might be very useful for investigating the weird chakra cave.

Fair - just worried we'll end up wasting time if we don't.

My proposed research plan

  • Research
    • Reroll all for safety
    • TR130 and Icarus on no prep, yes DoB tracks. Continue until TR130 is finished.
    • First cycle, do prep days on Water, Chakra Soothing, and Soothing Field Runes. Consult with Noburi for additional methods of replicating the chakra water, and general assistance with these prep days.
    • Second cycle (if applicable) do prep days on Iron Earth, Long Fuse, and Rock Lee Runes
Long Fuse
Seal
An LBF/ARS variant, instead of activating an attached seal when a tripwire is broken or a seal is activated, this has a variable timer set at scribing (up to 1 month) that activates an attached seal after the timer has elapsed. Range is the same as LBF.

Intended to be used to blow up our burned out runes after we're gone.

Green Beast Rune
Rune

Akane told Hazou about how Lee used to train Athletics and Physique with weights on his limbs to generate more power. This discards the weights by the universe-breaking power of Runecraft

By directly increasing the pull of the Earth spirits (gravity) on everying in the Rune's AoE or by increasing the inertia (similar to Dampeners) physical training in the rune's AoE generates an additional pool of XP based on Base Rate, similar to PCJ. This pool can be spent on Physique, Athletics, Taijutsu, or MW.

If combat occurs in the AoE, this debuffs all physical rolls of anyone inside by a significant amount

Prime must train in the AoE for at least 1 block for this to proc.

Could we please get an official WoG on how Hazo thinks seals work?

Some of us have been attempting to come up with rune ideas to interact with the process (usually to prevent seals from working), but there appears to be some disagreement on how seals operate.

There was a PONWoG from EJ on the discord (which is not binding in any way) on how seals worked.

"ponwog: You infuse the seal with a tiny bit of chakra that is sufficient to generate a construct. The construct pulls in ambient chakra to generate the rip to the Out and guide the effect produced by the rip."

Is this close to what Hazo believes in happening with seals?

I don't think Chakra mapping would get done fast enough, and we really need timed explosive done before we leave the Chakra cave. And MS8 is probably better for this kind of detailed diagnostic anyhow.

Yeah, it's a tough one. I'll try to write it so that Hazoupilot can swap over to tenketsu runes once he has a good prep idea.

Alright I am giving up on waiting for the QMs to get back to us about whether we are at the pool or not.

[X] Action Plan: Combat Fork
Word Count: 299
  • Clear the caves
    • Fight from our prepared position from the previous update.
    • Once the creatures have stopped coming, clear the smoke with UGLSP. Then we go in to clear out any remaining wildlife.
      • Restrict seal usage, Banshee Fuckers/explosives might be dangerous to use. Or simply too loud.
      • Summoners can choose a single Summon to being. Prioritize Summons with additional senses or tunneling expertise.
        • Bring Cansaku, arrange a deal with him.
      • If anyone takes a Mild, pause while Noburi clears it. If they take a Moderate/Severe they should retreat to safety.
  • Secure the pool
    • Close off any deeper tunnels with ES/MEW, and set up a trap perimeter.
    • Pay attention to unexpected interactions of ES with the chakra in the rocks near the pool
  • Study the pool
    • Observe the effects of the water on the chakra system with chakrascope/MS 8 with the aim of replicating it with a rune, lean on Noburi here. He's the medical expert.
    • Use Vampiric Dew to examine someone's chakra system when they're first submerged. Is this something he could potentially replicate?
    • Test the pool on SCs from unaffected teammates and Summons.
    • Test the if chakra water effect transfers over to SCs once Prime has it
    • Test if the water has unique effects in Noburi's barrel, both to fill it and as refill water.
    • Look for any fungi and plants with medical properties.

Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease stop trying to aggro the cave with ES midway through a different combat encounter.
Or at minimum, give any kind of response to my repeated requests to that effect.

I'm getting extremely fucking fed up with this behaviour from you.

Since you don't seem to remember:
I think it's very likely to be useful for Hazou understanding the pool and how it works, that's the goal this update. I don't think it's likely that it provokes a fight. I'm keeping it.
Learn to take a polite no as the answer and stop asking. I am not discussing this further with you.

The answer is no. I see you forked the plan over this. Best of luck to you.

Wait, are we planning to blow up the chakra cave? If yes: can we not blow up the chakra cave? It seems remarkably antisocial, and also wasteful even if you only consider our own direct interests.

(If you just want to blow up our external rune research site, then sure, that's fine, but why not just bury the runes with Earthshaping as we've done before?)

Also, chakra mapping is probably quite easy - it was "well within" at PS 40. I think there's a decent chance we get it done before we have to leave, if we're here for more than a few days.

While I agree that @Left-Hand Mutant's response is unnecessarily aggressive, I do have to support their concerns that using ES in the cave might cause a golem fight. However, I also agree that it would be nice to use ES throughout and not just after possibly-several-days of other research avenues. As a compromise, could I suggest that you (Sir Stompy) include this line:
  • Close off any deeper tunnels with ES/MEW, and set up a trap perimeter.
  • Pay attention to unexpected interactions of ES with the chakra in the rocks near the pool.
  • If the cave displays a response, do not immediately assume it's hostile. Attempt to engage peacefully.
?

Edit: Also, maybe include a line about having Force Claws equipped and ready, just in case it does come to a fight and we need a way to cut through stone?

If we could then turn the effect up to 11, we'd have a strong anti-Akatsuki AoE weapon. It'd shut down clay dragons (I hope), it would make it harder for Konan to use her paper, and it would give Itachi's crows trouble with flying. Also it makes taijutsu harder, which hinders Sasori, Hidan and Kisame.
