Hazō doesn't know the details of Minami's jutsu so he can't say if that would have worked or not. What he does know, however, is that it's easy to come up with "well, why didn't you do X?!" after the fact, but when you have a fraction of a second to choose tactics you probably won't think of the complicated thing that would maybe have worked or maybe not. Even if you did think of it, if the tactic failing would have made things worse (say, by flattening your teammates with friendly fire), then you probably wouldn't choose it.
noooOOOOOOOOO MINAMI SEMPAI WRYYYYYYYYY :( :( :(

Could we maybe use a poor man's yellow flash seal ejected at maximum speed from a modified storage seal to try and speedily escape?

I am a-okay with it. This is like the first time in forever that we haven't had friendlies around to get injured by explosives, I'm perfectly happy to use them here.

-yet the winning vote seems to be some complicated engineering and dynamic exit instead of just throwing down a dome and evaporating the building around us. It doesn't even guarantee sealing the body we may need for evidence and will definitely need to soften the blow to relations with the clan J desperately needs on his side. How are they going to take leaving a bloodline body to be eaten by dogs and looted for its skywalkers as anything but an insult? What's J going to say when we tell him that we just left skywalkers behind because we were so scared that we were too focused on finding a non-load-bearing wall and building a breaching charge when he knows very well that we had the ability to just remove all the walls and floors at once in a fraction of the time?

Well, we've got a bit over 24 hours to fix that. Though, I'll note that I doubt Air Dome is sufficient to protect against an explosion of that level.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that Hazou, given that he's in a party with Kagome, would know exactly the level of explosives an air dome could take.

I've heard it described as as strong as granite, and we'd probably want a granite dome beneath it anyway. Granite is immensely strong in compression, and guess which structural shape ensures that all the forces it's subjected to are compressive? It's definitely stronger than the tensile strength of an 11th century rough lumber and packed dirt field fort. The greater danger would be not using enough explosives and ending up buried, but "enough explosives" is not a problem on team Kagome.

I could have sworn I made a plan that addressed some of these issues...?

A nice thing about @Radvic's NBS post as a resource is that it's pretty open to being a central hub for multiple plans.

Honestly if someone wants a "take our time, seal up Minami, and then vaporize everything around us with just about all the seals we have" plan, all they have to do is write up a "short plan" listing those as priorities and linking to Radvic's post for its non-binding suggestions so far as further tactics go.

I only saw a list of non-binding suggestions on Plan Speed. At the very least recovering the skywalkers needs to be non-optional, and the body probably should be as well.
Le sigh.

Better?
Well this is awkward. And slightly funny.

@Kurkistan Could you edit that part of your plan to coincide with the list of suggestions?

In the meantime...

[X] Action Plan: Blow this popsicle stand (Speed) EDITED

tl;dr Prep an evac route then fuck off.
  • While in the house:
    • Dispel
    • Henge into ourselves without poison - should delay any poison damage
    • Misterators in the building - make sure there are no henged ninja or other chakra sources are nearby
    • Living Roots Technique to check for enemies lying in wait for ambush nearby, outside or inside the house
    • Put Minami in storage scroll
      • Take her seals off her person first - no need for seal-pocalypse yet
    • Use MEW and directional explosives to sculpt a charged blast for escape purposes
      • If there may be enemies outside, arm at least 2 - one pointed towards the enemies, one away, ideally more if we have enough explosives.
    • Reset an Air dome barrier for extra defense when we blow holes in the walls
    • Prepare purifiers and tunneler's friends to be able to breath through poison in the house and smoke outside
      • Slip them under a piece of cloth (from clothes?) and tie around face to breathe.
    • Prepare banshee slayers for use if we need to drop ear busters
    • Grab any seals we used; don't leave them lying around.
    • Blow a holes in the walls and initiate leaving sequence.
  • Leaving Sequence:
    • Send clones through each opening we made in the house armed with misterators and fire-log macerators
    • Have the clones attach misterators to the outside of the building to provide mist cover
    • Have the clones lay down a trail of mist via misterators, followed by exploding themselves with the fire-log macerators
    • Have Noburi check through the mist for chakra signatures: draining everything he senses dry
    • Run through the opening farthest away from any suspected enemy combatants and immediately run through the smoke upwards, throwing additional AOE fire-log macerators to the ground
    • Have clones run out of the smoke into the forest (laying a false trail, buying time to flee into the sky)
  • While running through the sky:
    • Get above clouds if possible
    • Don't stop
    • Go towards the meeting place for Akane's group
  • When reporting with Akane's group:
    • Explain everything we did, including our escape methods and Minami's death
    • Suggest immediately sending a report to Jiraiya
    • Accept Akane's leadership (she was Minami's chosen second in command)

A while ago you posted this:

And I pointed out that her AoE technique (if it was the electroshock AoE) could be avoided by Hazou and Noburi through the use of Skywalkers, which would allow them to levitate upwards and so avoid it. @OliWhail pointed out that Minami would have to wait a round in order to use the attack because Hazou/Noburi are slower than her (in initiative) and so they'd end up using Skywalkers, the round ends, and then the enemy Jonin would kill everyone before Minami could use her jutsu. @1234qwerty pointed out (in response) that the T(E)GR rulebook says Minami could hold her action until after Hazou/Noburi used Skywalkers, and then electroshock at the end of the round.

Was wondering if that would have been a logical alternative to going into melee: I'm not 100% since I don't actually know the specs of Minami's AoE jutsu and what it does (mechanically, beyond "shocking" people).
Holding actions is a mechanic that's been under a lot of discussion, and I believe the consensus right now is that you cannot hold actions except where a mechanic or technique explicitly allows you to.

Huh weird that substitution wouldn't stack if you had it up to the level where you don't need hand seals. @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail do jutsu just not stack or is this just a quality of Vacuum step and substitution?
Removing hand seal requirements by levelling up a technique is a mechanic that was removed a very long time ago.

As for Vacuum Step and Substitution, I don't understand what it would mean for them to stack. Substitution is effectively instantaneous and you can't act while using Vacuum Step. How would you use them at the same time?

You don't actually have a way to make granite domes. MEW always produces rectangular prisms.
