Pretty much what @Lysbeth Succubus said. Be the richest, be known to be the richest. HDK how much money that would take.
Do we need to actually be rich, or can we just get better at lying?
Come to think of it, that sounds pretty broken, we could create any kind of tag about anything if we could do that.
Supreme political power by the power of lies... yeah, on the other hand that doesn't sound too far-fetched, does it.

Sealing Research Rolls for Chapters 594-598

Hazō Prime has been much too busy to perform any sealing research, but some plans have indicated putting a Shadow Clone on it. I'm subtracting 3 training blocks (~9 hours) of SC time from Hazō's SC XP for the past 7 days in character, as a Shadow Clone was assigned to do sealing research. Only 3 because Hazō is not using SSA (if he were using SSA, it would need to be -6 training blocks).

While the plan overrides the SOP's 5 days of prep, it's still too much for the Hazōpilot. All of the jinchūriki chain seals so far have been chūnin-level, and not particularly hard chūnin-level seals at that. Additionally, Hazō now benefits from three separate sources of reduced TNs: he gets Kagome's feedback as a sealmaster who has already researched this seal, then has separate veterancy in chakra-sensing via his chakdar v2 and Kagome's chakrascope, which he researched earlier. Plus, Hazō has social challenges to deal with and a sealing exam to be ready for – and he doesn't want to be nursing a headache for either of those. Hazō will skip using SSA.

Also, I did the rolls for this seal months ago IRL and I can't be bothered to add SSA in. We'll chalk it up to Hazō's post-Akane-disappearance necromantic determination. I'll go back to following this SOP unless further plans replace or override it.

Hazō (Calligraphy): 40 + 3 (IN) + 6 = 49
Hazō (Sealing): 50 + 6 = 56

Hazō (Calligraphy): 40 + 3 (IN) - 3 = 40
Hazō (Sealing): 50 + 6 = 56

Hazō (Calligraphy): 40 + 3 (IN) - 3 = 40
Hazō (Sealing): 50 + 0 = 50

Hazō (Calligraphy): 40 + 3 (IN) - 3 = 40
Hazō (Sealing): 50 + 6 = 56

Hazō (Calligraphy): 40 + 3 (IN) + 3 = 46
Hazō (Sealing): 50 + 6 = 56

Hazō finishes the fourth jinchūriki chain seal in 5 days of research. Kagome at this point has finished the seventh seal in the jinchūriki chain and is moving on to the eighth while Hazō catches up, so Hazō continues. The last seal was extremely easy for him (took less days than the Conclave-entrance smoke seal thanks to skipping the frivolous SSA), so he'll continue with the same parameters.

Hazō (Calligraphy): 40 + 3 (IN) + 6 = 49
Hazō (Sealing): 50 - 6 = 44
FP to reroll! Plus, he'll add an invoked Aspect.
Hazō (Sealing): 50 + 3 + 6 (invoke "Promising Sealing Student" lol) = 59

Hazō thinks that he's a little under a third through learning the fifth jinchūriki chain seal. He thinks this is also quite easy.

  • Noburi examines himself with his respectable medical skills. What can he learn about his bloodline? Will learning SC kill him?
  • After he rounds out his contracts and gets put through his paces by Mari, we think Noburi could qualify for Summoner specj. Would he want to or does he want to wait to take a mednin or ninjutsu test?
  • With Asuma's permission, seek a deal with the Wakahisa, gemstones for unlimited koi breeding rights and loaner breeding pairs for a head start.
    • Mar negotiates.
[x] Kagomigal Son.
  • Brainstorm ES gifts or trade goods for the Toads.
    • Ornate pipes? Dart blowguns? Are there blowgun Toads?
    • Make a didgeridoo sized corundum blowgun.
      • Test with Kei, Snowflake and Kagome. Use clones.
      • Use densified corundum darts propelled by ARSed rocket boot seals Earthshaped inside.
        • Earthshape proximity trigger explosives inside?
      • Like darts, make densified corundum kunai for Snowflake and Kei to try.
      • Get their thoughts on working together to turn this into a long range weapon against the Dragons.

So, currently we're waiting to hear back about a few different things (e.g. Hidan possibly helping us with the investigation into Akane's probable death, other news regarding that investigation, Orochimaru's possible kidnapping of Ren). Do we have anything in particular people want to do until then? In the main timeline, that is. There's also the conclave, which hopefully we can get wrapped up and resynchronized relatively soon. If EJ and Velorien would be willing to write conclave chapters until we're caught up to the main timeline I think that would be good.
I favor a multi-day plan (maybe a week, maybe 'until something interesting interrupts us') with some sealing research. Possible scenes:
  • talking to Mareo (feel out if he would be interested in immigrating)
  • talking to Noburi, Mari, or Kagome (I feel like we haven't seen a lot of them lately, although I don't remember which of these Velorien likes to write)
  • talking to some of the adopted clan members whose names I can't even remember, because Sage knows they need more screen time
  • possibly a good combination of talking to adopted clan members and Kagome: meet with all the Gōketsu sealmasters, get updated on what they've been working on, how they're doing, if they need support on anything, etc.
  • progress update on sewer project and skyslider project, perhaps Hazō tries to offer some input
  • the QMs write whatever they want to write

Hazou currently has a two day Mild Consequence from invoking SSA, so his stats are hampered, meaning he shouldn't be working on Sealing.
If you're referring to the SSA rolls for the test, I am fairly sure that isn't the case.
SSA Stunt said:
Every time Hazō makes a roll to infuse a prototype seal (i.e., one that he is in the process of researching) he takes a Mild Mental Consequence.
It specifies the kind of roll that gives a Consequence. Since we weren't attempting to infuse a prototype seal, we shouldn't get a Consequence. We also didn't get a Consequence when we rolled to interpret Oro's notes on 3-D Sealing.

Pretty much what @Lysbeth Succubus said. Be the richest, be known to be the richest. HDK how much money that would take.

Which clan is known to be the richest? Sarutobi? Since they have been raking in dat Hokage stipend for the last 40 years?

Rocket Boots

Hazō is unsure how tough these are, and they are a Kagome seal. He'll do one day of prep and get the answer "Jōnin-level". Therefore, Hazō will make his first roll with full prep and SSA.

Hazō (Calligraphy): 39 + 16 (8x days prep) - 9 = 46
Hazō spends 1 FP to reroll!
Hazō (Calligraphy): 39 + 16 (8x days prep) - 3 = 52
Hazō (Sealing): 72 + 16 (8x days prep) + 8 (Invoke "Promising Sealing Student") + 6 = 102

[NB: He's rolling over 100 Sealing – is he really a "Promising Sealing Student" anymore? Perhaps more like "Out-Touched Genius"...)

[X] Update 'Promising Sealing Student' to 'Out-Touched Genius'
FTFY

Hazō (Calligraphy): 40 + 3 (IN) + 6 = 49
Hazō (Sealing): 50 - 6 = 44
FP to reroll! Plus, he'll add an invoked Aspect.
Hazō (Sealing): 50 + 3 + 6 (invoke "Promising Sealing Student" lol) = 59
XP AWARD: 1 The update was only a few hours.

Brevity XP: 1
@Paperclipped, @eaglejarl, @Velorien, Because of the retroactive seal research, Hazou begun and ended the last update with 2 FP. So he's due for refresh (I think).

Also he did win a confrontation with serious (reputational) consequences for losing. So he might be eligible for FP from that. Unsure how that works exactly. Are opposed rolls a requirement for FP awards?

I'm not sure how Manjiro will take this tbh. He seems like a pretty reserved dude.
I'll add a sanity check or something, but I think it's a generally good idea. We celebrate our promotion with our teacher, student, and examiner, with an extra place set for Jiraiya.

He seems like a cool guy who might loosen up a bit in a less formal setting, discussing technical stuff.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped are we still waiting for results from Sealing rolls for Chapter 595?
Just following up, thanks. Have the rolls or the seal difficulty been decided yet?
Not done yet, sorry.
[Are you still working up t]he difficulty of the AB seal as well?
Yes.
Sealing Research Rolls for Chapters 594-598
@Paperclipped @eaglejarl @Velorien
Any idea when we can expect to find out the difficulty level of the AB seal from our check in Chapter 595?

Mari sighed. "Asuma nixed the name because, quote, 'this is getting ridiculous and is an incredible headache to me, the person that actually has to deal with all these foolishly named organizations, so please find literally any other tolerable name that isn't maximally confusing to anyone with a brain,' end quote. Anyway, we got the Nara to help survey the route and sent out some civilian lumberjacks with Force Wall saws to clear the path. It's snowed over now, but once it clears up, we'll have to get Kei to have her Pangolins roll the path once to clear the stumps, then we can send in the civilian worker crews to level the ground while we hire ninja en-masse to build the roads themselves."

"What happened to the plan of draining and killing chakra beasts along the way to fuel the road construction?" Hazō asked.

"Apart from the fact that none of us can drink that much chakra water and that Noburi doesn't know Earth Element? Well, the ground needs to be level for the three MaRI walls to join up nicely and make a flat road, and that takes more time than just casting the jutsu. It's not nearly as hard as leveling a foundation for a building so unskilled worker crews can do it fast, but not as fast as we could go by draining chakra beasts and building as fast as possible. They ran the numbers; it's basically equally efficient to hire it out as missions and have the ninja protect the worker crews while they're out there. More expensive, but it saves Noburi's time, which currently seems definitely worth it. If you have a better idea, let me know, but otherwise we're going to need a couple million ryō saved up come the spring thaw."
@Paperclipped Can we use a fate point to say we financed the MARI casters to wall settlements when benched waiting for crews to clear trees or snow to melt? Looks like it makes sense to send the MARI casters with the leveling crew but unspecified supervision works for tree clearing.
