Last minute change to plan.

Should I specify that we're giving bison meat to the crystal or should we just down some Chakra beast in the area when we give it meat?

[x] Action Plan: Grab Loot, Go Home

I, too, refuse to engage in a plan that has us assault a unique intelligence which is now of approximately zero threat to our health or safety for only potential benefit. We can have lunch with Orochimaru. Well, we can have lunch somewhere highly-public while we offer him the crystal shards. Or something.

@MadScientist I imagine it's too late at this point, but would you consider adding a line about checking up on Noda? If she's still alive, she might be a suitable TH tutor.

Sorry, missed it. But it was most likely too close to the deadline for changes anyway.

What do all y'all proselytizing about sparing the innocent crystal monster think is going to happen if Oro hears about it? He literally kills and dissects things for a living

MAYBE he keeps it alive for study but you can guarantee he won't want us butting in ever again

It's got to be bizarre in universe how Hazou is a genocidal war criminal who designs weapons of mass destruction for fun and at the same time is to big of a softie to potentially harm giant monsters because they might be alive and sapient.

Velorien has said many a times Hazou is straight up insane

Still, in-character he could just think it's too risky or not worth it or wants to preserve it for study, it's not necessarily just him being soft

Looking forward to the cristal piece being able to bud another antichakra dungeon of geologic fun in the middle of konoha. Then we gotta kill it, and somehow it collapses the tunnels retroactively months before coming to konoha because if a being came from another reality and has some form of combat hiperagility maybe it's just reacting acausally and did anyone even check that Akane and Yuno are not golems wearing skintight stolen skins?

i think there's a decent chance that he'll reward us for bringing it to his attention
I don't really think he will, he has no reason to besides goodwill which he doesn't really care about.

But sure, let's be optimistic and say he decides to reward Hazou to encourage him to tell Oro more interesting things. What reward is worth potentially further powering up the most evil guy in the setting?

I'm not convinced oro is more evil than a typical ninja. But even if he was, help on the Great Seal or potentially his eyeballs food would make up for his powerups. As well as more controversial things like helping with necromancy or bio modifying hazou

Edit: even normal training jutsu or xp loot box notes could be worth it. since for some reason team uplift continues to encounter life threatening situations

Assuming we do one day decide to pull the trigger on dealing with Oro we are going to need to be significantly stronger than we are currently. Therefore we have to look at rates of power growth. Anything we could offer to Oro would only marginally increases his power. While the things he offers us could significantly increases our power. Since the trades would shorten the amount time till we where strong enough to deal with him it would generally be to our advantage to make deals

A second point is that if we offer interesting enough things for Oro to research we could then structure our own anti-Oro strats to things we know he is not currently researching. Thus increasing odds of dealing with him in the long term.

The three great challenges Velorien regularly faces as a QM:

1) Remember plot elements from 300 chapters ago in order to avoid inconsistencies, because faflec will

2) Resist the temptation to write a Kei interlude every time spoons are low

3) Figure out how to present the players' latest decision as still in character for Hazō

I'm not very inclined for him to, say, figure out how to put his own intelligence into a chakra crystal, or expand his own chakra reserves by several times over, and so on. Maybe that's unlikely but I think the gains are marginal compared to the risk, personally. He's not going to give us the truly good shit, and we have other stuff to trade for what he is willing to give up (namely, our various Dragon parts)

That said I do want to trade with him (via Kabuto proxy of course) again pretty soon with the Dragon parts. Jutsu, medical stuff, potentially XP lootboxes in something cool like THing, and what I personally care most about, buying an hour or so of his time (the most valuable thing he thinks he has) to ask LORE questions. It's spooky month and the day before Halloween is an EJ update!

I am extremely disinclined to tell Orochimaru anything about this place
I think we should pursue it ourselves initially but if, for some reason, it becomes evident that we need to Deal With that thing then we shouldn't bother using SCs and explosives, we should just deploy Orochimaru.

IMO 'check if Noda is still alive - would she make for a suitable tutor? Is she available?' would have been fine but I get the reluctance.

Solution: write about a member of her polycule?
