Yeah... Assuming that diplomacy would work already put on this situation, acting like we already won when we have nethier the skills or the sheer power gap to enforce it is a recipe for a game over or requiring even more drastic warcrimes to save our asses.

I actually think it's a possibility too! I just don't think that their lives are worth the significantly increased chance of running into Neck's Kage or a prepared jounin or two with support.

Without Hazou, Uplift will never happen. We gotta prioritize his survival until he is S-Rank. Or all the people that would suffer without Uplift (all of them) will continue to suffer until humanity goes extinct.

Once we take out this squad we almost certainly will have taken out 10-20% of their combat power. So they should be reasonable if they know what's good for them
 
I mean we can set an kagome approved trap field to a fake base with some disguised SC.
Then just let the attacking force run trough hell an pull an iron cage.
 
If the scroll was in fact picked up by a local Clan then we're almost certainly going to need to raid a clan compound as it is

We can use the pagolins to tunnel around it if we need trough if its a clan compound we would probably would need to extract info, and people here are not down to go the TI route.
 
Did we ever figure out that Rods of God idea? I think I remember that we needed Air Tunnels to make it work... maybe they'd be effective against a Dragon?

It was projected to take over a month of research, doesn't seem worth the time at the moment. When Hazou's sealing score is higher he could probably finish it in like a week
 
I think all previous non-lethal takedown decisions (arikada, initial and ending of isan) were done by Mari? Her expertise would help with gauging risk. And in Isan's case her socials would help with turning the survivors from liabilities to assets.

Added to shroom's plan spending a FP to ask Mareo about ways to identify his tribe, and for way to show his tribe that friendly with Mareo if met.

Spend a FP to ask Mareo about ways to identify his tribe, and for way to show his tribe we are friendly with Mareo if we meet them.
If the patrol is his tribe mention we are friendly with Mareo and show the proof.
If not, or if that fails
  • Battle
    • General
      • The enemy knows we're Leaf. Don't let any escape, and Seal up any bodies afterward.
      • Activate MARS buffs immediately.
      • Yuno/Akane can counterattack off-turn if Kei/Snowflake/Hazou Substitutes with them from melee. Use if helpful.
      • If passing tags could prevent injury, do so.
    • Hazou
      • Exchange 20 XP for 2 FP.
      • The enemy has pegged him as the main threat, play into that as appropriate. Focus on evasion/defense while the heat is on him (Seals, MEW, etc.)
      • Using buffs from MARS, pass tags to Yuno/Akane unless needed for evasion
      • Assist with fighting or supporting if/when senior ninja stop focusing on him
      • If Hazou thinks it would be worth Summoning Cantelope, do so.
    • Yuno
      • Kill commander first, second in command second.
      • Other party members support her as necessary, with seals, maneuvers, jutsu, etc.
    • Akane
      • Exchange 20 XP for 2 FP.
      • Prioritize Yuno's targets.
        • Either attack or focus on supporting Yuno (such as by passing along Flame Aura tags), where appropriate.
    • Kei
      • Pass tags to Yuno (or Akane where appropriate), unless needed for evasion.
      • Pick off enemy support.
      • Don't Summon unless Snowflake is popped.
    • Snowflake
      • Pass tags to Yuno (or Akane where appropriate).
      • Pick off enemy support.
      • Maintain Supplemental to substitute with an ally in danger of taking a serious hit.
  • Aftermath
    • Treat any wounds as necessary
    • Ask others: should we start forest fire to cover tracks, or Summon a big pangolin to fuck up the battleground, make it look like chakra beasts attacked?
      • Leave after Summoning. If pangolin notices more ninja approaching, burrow down.
    • Skywalk to avoid leaving a trail.
      • Bring captive survivors for interrogation
        • Check in with Leaf as soon as possible.
    • Ruminate on the thrill of battle and if any Jashin-related feelings seem evident.

I don't think it's really likely to work out like this. Ultimately we were attacked because we showed up unannounced and started skulking around their territory, with a cover story they found genuinely laughable even before noticing our scrolls. That's already a really bad impression right from the start. And then, like, the people we're fighting here are probably beloved back home, not just people with families who love them but exemplars, comrades in arms.

If I was more emotional than logical, I would have trouble seeing these outsiders who killed my comrades as anything other than malicious. If I was more logical than emotional, I would have trouble seeing these outsiders sneaking around our land with an unbelievable cover story as anything other than malicious. Different flavours of malicious, for different reasons, but I don't see a single person in Neck thinking we aren't the bad guys.

Of course, if there's a matter of pragmatism pressuring the leaders to play nice we might still profit off of that, but we did in fact come here with nefarious motives (to take the Squirrel Scroll for ourselves) and they don't gain anything essential by playing nice. Heck, if they can successfully form a strike team capable of killing us, they get to take our scrolls.

I'm turning the situation over every which way in my head, but I can't think of a way this turns out in our favour.

Yep, the only ways to still get the scroll is the TI way and making sure everyone that raid a bait base dies or starting an killing everyone and starting a fire to frame dome radom and too charred chakra beast to be recognizable in order to maintain stealth.

Otherwise this whole mission might as well be considered a failure and we should pack our shit an run from the sene.

We should just Seal away any corpses in storage scrolls and then dump them somewhere in like the sea. Ensure there's not even the slightest indication for any village to begin suspecting.
 
It's okay guys it's totally justified to take the Scroll because Akane will be S Rank in a few years and we need more S rank fighters for the DRAGONWAR

This makes us the good guys, right? Right!
 
Sorry but i fail to find the funny on this situation.

And yeah this why they all need to die. This mission ilwas suposed to be off the books.

Good point, I just meant they would still suspect foul play if we left the bodies behind like that

Personally I think we should hold on to them as bargaining chips or just donate them to leaf hospital after the mission's over

Or bribe Oro with them if we want to go the even more morally dubious route 😈

That's not the only way. We could trade for it. It's too early to say whether we would have to steal it or do something immoral to get it
