No destroying the swamp! There's shinies in here!
Think of the mind control spores! The esoteric poisons! The chakra organs that could be studied!

Seriously though, we should at least collect any poisons we can find. Poisons work by having physiological effects, so if you dilute them enough you could end up with a valuable medicine. We haven't really done much with Noburi's medical knowledge as far as research goes (at least compared to sealing), so I want to make it more useful.
It's not that complicated either. You take a poison, dilute it until it stops immediately killing the target, and then start feeding it to mice or some other animal. Then observe what it's doing to the animal. You may first have to isolate the different compounds in the poison, depending on whether it's just one substance or a mixture of them, but I'm sure Noburi can manage that.

Aquiring chakra beast and whatever useful plant life is out here would make a nice 'Get-well soon' gift for Noburi.

Plus I really think Hazo should get some closure. Especially when we just got done brow-beating Naruto into gunning for a Missing-nin to offer up to our seal failure.

Copied Inferno Vulpix's protoplan. I am not quite sure about implosion seals, so excluded that for now.

[X] Action Plan: Swamp Night
  • Camp for the night on Skytowers.
    • Tell Naruto about our Pangolin techniques. Even if we can't teach them to him yet, telling him what they are should be a show of trust after we got prickly earlier.
    • Figure out the Adopting Naruto question.
  • Research Samples: Make storage seals and collect the remains of any creatures we kill on the way out. Ditto for plant samples.
  • Salterns:
    1. Use MEW to wall off sections of ocean.
    2. Freeze with EM.
    3. Boil leftover brine.
  • Complete land sale. Clear said land.
    • Legal matters should already be taken care of in Leaf.
  • Guerilla civil engineering in Fire only.
    1. Be sure to test designs and get feedback from end users. When in doubt, overengineer. Use that book Kagome bought on construction, feedback from builders, advices, etc.
    2. Clear out entirely new villages, build walls, bridges, etc. When possible, inscribes quotes and sayings from Jiriaya, reflecting Goketsu values.

Do you want to camp on the island next to the collapsed caves and ghosts of your dead friends

Uhhh.

...

Yes!

If theres any better time to try to nonlethally get in touch with the afterlife, its while our psyche-soul is still reeling from the scroll trauma, in a place of super dense natural chakra, and next to a bunch of dead people that we had a personal connection with.

How about it folks?

This was left on my buffer from before the chapter:
If we want to transfer it to a dying civilian we'd need to teach them how to control chakra first, right?
Presumably. Note that teaching civilians to use chakra is essentially impossible. No one you know has done it, no one you know has ever claimed that one of their friends did it. The only references to it are legends and myths like the Liberator.

I'm actually kind of interested in finding out if 13-stacks always cause a failure, or if that one just had a bad infusion in it.

See @eaglejarl, told you we'd produce more fun failures in the future.
smh

Fair warning: I am unlikely to be as merciful a second time. If you cause yourself another sealing failure...well, it's on you.

Why does SV not have a '' rating?

Naruto is not joining Gouketsu. Sacrificing the Uzumaki clan is just insane sentimentalism.
Well if Naruto demands to join Gouketsu because of Jiraiya sentimentalism, which is what was implied before, there's not much we can do. Also, we still don't know how much formal votes (compared to the informal influence you have if the kage ignores what you want) even matter for anything besides kage elections.
If we want to transfer it to a dying civilian we'd need to teach them how to control chakra first, right?
Well if we taught a civilian to control chakra...wouldn't they become a ninja?

I mean simulation-ally QM mercy doesn't really affect how bad a sealing failure goes.

No, but it sure affects whether or not the characters say "Oh, hey, I know this great place where there's lots of chakra critters that exactly fit our needs" and then they go there and find one very quickly and without any trouble.

And, of course, there's always the question of "Hm...I rolled a 74 for severity. What shall I do?"

I can tell you right now how the conversation as described in the plan will go:

Akane: "Yes, because Youth!"
Kagome: "No, because Fox!"
Naruto: "Undecided, because Hazou is the Main Character!"

Well if we taught a civilian to control chakra...wouldn't they become a ninja?
Given the intense classism between ninja and civilians in this setting, I would very much not be surprised if people draw the line not at 'actualizing your chakra potential' but at 'having chakra potential to begin with'.

As I understand it, everyone is born with absolutely miniscule chakra reserves, and if you have more than a certain amount then with (and only with) focused training guided by full ninjas you can increase the size of your reserves over and over again until it starts hitting meaningful quantities. A 'civilian' (i.e. a civilian without enough chakra potential to be scouted out as a kid) is fundamentally incapable of becoming a ninja even with the best training money can buy.

And if you believe ninjas are the inherently superior breed of people, then obviously just by having the potential to be a ninja you're of the ninja kind now rather than the civilian kind.

True. As a player I try to ignore QM mood when voting plans though, till someone convinces me otherwise. Feels too meta-gamey otherwise.

Let's avoid dangerous seal experiments and especially SIN testing until at the least we can figure out what went wrong with the SINs.

Word Count: 235

[] Action Plan: Swamp RnR

Precautions:
  • Maintain OPSEC.
  • Use disguise kits if Clan or ninja status hinders recon.
    • Cover: Ecentric but well-meaning and charitable builders.
  • Get local perspectives and test designs before implementing Guerilla engineering.
    • Use Kagome's construction book, builder feedback, laws, etc.
Contingencies:
  • If Guerilla engineering isn't feasible provide alternatives.(Till n fill info, subsidy, etc).
Camp on Skytowers tonight:
  • Decompress.
  • Thank Naruto for his cooperation and understanding.
  • Thank Akane for saving Kagome.
  • Review the Seal Failure (Converse when convenient).
    • Shelf SINs for now?
  • Tell them about your idea to track down and rebuild Jaraiya's network. They can help boost Leaf's defense and help with Uplift.
Swamp Trek:
  • Provide Guerilla engineering to local villages if present.
    • Warm Naruto to Uplift.
  • Make storage seals and collect interesting Chakra beasts or plant samples.
    • Keep Noburi's interest in mind.
    • Gather material to extend an olive branch to kabuto (bribes/gifts)
  • If asked about Swamp's history give a sanitized story from Hazo's view.
    • Give a farewell to the fallen.
  • Spend up to 3 days.
Chakra Beast Mission:
  • Exterminate targets.
    • Collect samples.
Tanzaku Gai Trek:
  • Help villages:
    • Provide Guerilla engineering to local villages.
  • Tanzaku Gai proper:
    • Identify local elites or factions.
    • Identify and aquire possible assets (merchants, artisans, underworld, etc.)
      • Especially seek out Jiraiya's contact/network. Help rebuild said network, reporting to us.
  • Take time to relax as needed.
    • Play games, tell stories, and share goals for the near future.

Lets buy him Ichiraku Ramen.

The whole thing.
MfD!Naruto: "In what universe would I ever sell my highly successful ramen restaurant franchise to you just to buy it back from you?"

Because there is no way a highly intelligent and rich Naruto wouldn't realize that he could just buy the business with all of his excess S-rank mission pay... unless Jiraiya forbade him for whatever reason.

Apparently we did lose some friendos.

Its better than nothing, unless you wanna take a pit stop at Nagi island...?
eeeeeeeeh it seems like Hazo didn't really have any friends besides Noburi and Keiko during his time in the swamp, and even then they were more just acquaintances he worked with.
Plus the whole proto-village hidden in the swamp ordeal lasted at most two weeks right? "Friend" probably isn't the right way to describe anyone there

I mean, the last time somebody Hazou leaked clan secret jutsu details to went to sleep on a skytower, Kagome literally murdered her. Don't do this.
This, it shouldn't even be our secret to give out, this was an important deal made by Keiko with the Pangolins and it feels like we're going behind her back again.
