An alternative alliance could be with Uchiha, maybe? It would probably be more equal, since they are at a low point and we are just starting out. Just like us they'll eventually become very powerful with time (us because of training tons of sealmasters, them because of more people being born with the Sharingan). On the other hand, right now they're even weaker than us and don't have a lot to offer. Their ramp up time to becoming awesome is slower than us too, since they need to raise Sharingan users from babies while we can just recruit clanless to be new sealmasters.

Way I see it, the main asset Cousin has to offer right now is prestige. The Sharingan is an iconic and massively powerful bloodline that's been Leaf as long as there's been a Leaf. As you said, it's less weight than ISC, but also more equal than ISC. Unfortunately, even Uchiha-ISC-us still likely won't be able to stand up to hypothetical bastard Hiashi without J-man in town. With J-man in town, ISC doesn't outweigh us by THAT much.

Yeah, that's a...good point.

Can we edit last sub-bullet of 2nd bullet to end with "if team concurs"?

Postscript: "By the way if you could somehow use this money to make Hiashi no longer exist within the next week in an untraceable manner that would be beyond great. Thanks uncle Oro!"
In America, this is the kind of thing that gets you investigated by a special counsel. Let's not. :p

Edit:
But don't worry, Leaf has a different system of governance than America. They'll probably just send us straight to T&I.

Would you be willing to put a section in your respective plans investigating this "Clanless nin cant learn certain stuff its illegal" bullshit? Maybe with Grandma Librarian Lady?

(We might just have to pick up a license or something really and then go forward from there, and the sad fact is that no one does this regularly for clanless folk :( )

I have this already added:
Help out clanless ninja with good records.
  • Try emulating Ami's favor economy. Offer healing, seals, training, or advance warning before we fund mission bounties (till'n'fills).
  • Investigate Leaf policy on teaching Sealing, MedNin, and Technique Hacking.
Did you want me to be more specific, or...?

I would prefer implementation level details to be mentioned, even if its just as a starting point, yeah.
So...what, "check the library"? I can't think of any other ways we can check. Maybe ask ISC?

Edit: Well, I added the above. Will sleep on things and try to figure out if there's anything else then.
[X] Action Plan: Manor Snakes

Word Count: 297
  • Ask Keiko to check if Jiraiya survived/won via Pangolins.
  • Consider sending a message to Orochimaru.
    • Talk with our teammates IFF it's safe (secure + full OPSEC protection). If they agree, get Jiraiya's approval/help.
    • Concern: If Hiashi comes back but Jiraiya doesn't, we may be FUBAR.
      • Tsunade hates politics, ISC could distance themselves...
      • We need to get allies and survive Hiashi, Orochimaru could be an option.
    • Hazou wants to establish a secure contact method.
    • Securely send the message via Summoning Realm.
  • Get settled in Leaf.
    • Hug Mari. We missed her.
    • Update her and Kagome on everything. Ask what's happened since we left.
      • If something super traumatic happened, make sure nobody does anything stupid, especially us.
  • Get to work. Discuss and work together with the clan.
    • Investigate Merchant Council members' finances, rumours, and political affiliation.
      • Maybe Keiko's fans might have information?
    • Talk to Kagome at length about what he's been up to.
      • You once expressed interest in writing. Are you still interested? How can we help?
      • Has he talked with Ebisu, and has he approved Kagome's teaching methods to the Academy?
      • Offer to invite the Academy Headmaster to a fancy dinner to help further Kagome's educational agenda.
    • Continue funding till'n'fills (up to 両100,000).
      • Pay a logistics officer (or ask Keiko) to collect data on till-n-fill distributions.
      • Let Nakano's team (and Yūdai) know beforehand.
    • Arrange some lunches or game nights with other Acting Clan Heads (ISC, Shino, Kiba...) to establish better rapport.
    • Help out clanless ninja with good records.
      • Try emulating Ami's favor economy. Offer healing, seals, training, or advance warning before we fund mission bounties (till'n'fills).
      • Investigate Leaf policy on teaching Sealing, MedNin, and Technique Hacking.
        • Consult the library/lawbooks.
        • Ask ISC.
    • Invite Akane over to eat, train...simple stuff.

Added this. Have 17 more words to spend
Look into legality of teaching clanless

We might be able to get two further council votes in Sarutobi (they seem sane enough that they might be persuaded) and Senju, if Tsunade were to claim the seat. That might solidly outvote any coalition Hiashi could put together.

Luckily Kei has a contract with someone perfect for the mission
That helps, but it sounds like one extremely dangerous mission. There's a chance even the Snake border guards would kill the messenger, much less everyone in between.

Check the library, ask a tower clerk for the laws concerning this, or better yet ask Ebisu!
Done.

Those are a lot of possibilities. For the record, I would prefer we stay in Leaf if at all possible, but I'd rather explore alternatives than get caught with our pants down.

Finally, @faflec what do you think about adding a direct quote from J-man when he discussed the implications of Hiashi getting the hat with us? The one where he talked about going missing-nin and how he could protect himself but not us? I think it would help to set the tone that this isn't us trying to hurt Leaf.

Thanks, you the best!

I'm concerned that "Continue Prior Plan" might be a bit knee-jerk. Quite frankly, @faflec 's plan above is literally that, plus some additional details updating on new information, and a decently conservative take on the Orochimaru situation (if you want a more neutral take, Oneiros's plan just gets in touch with him to establish a more direct line of communication, a bit more directly. If you want a risky take, my plan proposes we ask him to assassinate and/or arrange the assassination of Hiashi. This is obviously risky and treasonous. The other two seem pretty reasonable to me. The only instance where they come back to bite us in the ass majorly is in "Timeline: Jiraiya + Tsunade are Dead and Hiashi is Hokage" anyway, and we're already beyond fucked at that point anyway.)

Tl;dr Vote Loremaster, its sufficiently safe. When has faflec ever steered you wrong?

...Wait, what?

Oh wow. Holy shit. That's ballsy and ruthless.

...I'd probably go for it, except that we know nothing about Orochimaru's motives or loyalties.
