Alright, made some changes. Basic meetings with clan heads and the Academy Headmaster to establish rapport, with the hopes of developing this into something better (once we figure out what that is).

  • Scribe whatever seals Jiraiya wants, deliver to him before we (or they) leave.
    • Offer to scribe and send more via Pangolins.
  • Say goodbye to Mom.
    • Thanks for the killing intent advice. It helped.
    • Former clan heir to acting clan head: Any tips?
    • Please take care and don't do anything extreme. We love you.
  • Arrange escort for merchants.
  • On the way back to Leaf:
    • Socialize with your fellow Leaf ninja.
      • What are their thoughts on the recent events?
      • Be sure to talk to the clanless as well.
    • Read over Jiraiya's responses. Focus especially on politics and our economic situation. Try to follow up on leads he suggests.
  • Back at Leaf.
    • Hug Mari. We missed her.
    • Update her and Kagome on everything. Ask what's happened since we left.
      • How's the clan's financial situation?
    • In case of super traumatic news, make sure no one leaves the compound to do anything stupid.
      • This goes double for yourself.
  • Research and talk. Discuss and work together with the clan.
    • Investigate members of the Merchant Council. Check finances, rumours, and political affiliation.
      • Maybe some of Keiko's fans might be willing to help?
    • Talk to Kagome at length about what he's been up to.
      • You once expressed interest in writing books on sealing. Is that still a thing you'd like to do? How can we help with that?
      • Has he talked with Ebisu, and has he approved Kagome's teaching methods to the Academy?
      • Offer to invite the Academy Headmaster to a fancy dinner to "get to know more of the hardworking and respectable ninja in Leaf."
    • Arrange some simple meetings (lunches, game nights...) with other Acting Clan Heads (ISC, Shino, Kiba...) to establish better rapport.
    • Invite Akane over to eat, to train...simple stuff.

At creation time you choose the radius of draw from within modest parameters. That's the only customization they offer.

Hmm, interesting. In this case I think the best way to prep implosion seals would be to place layers of permeable but thick material around the implosion seal. With the goal of slowing down the inrushing air so that it doesn't obliterate the seal. Like pop filters are used to eliminate
"plosives" (the puffs of air that come out of your mouth when you make a hard consonant sound like a "p") when it comes to recording vocals on mics. Maybe making a 5sb wooden frame in which we'd place the implosion seal, and covering the outside of the frame with heaps of thick wool blankets or something.

If we had Hazou write testing protocols for some of the sealing application ideas I'd mentioned, do you think it would be possible that those protocols could be used to delegate the testing without requiring a sealmaster doing all the work? If this is viable the possible benefits of the testing would not change, but the required time sink on the part of Hazou (Jiayra wouldn't be doing testing himself of course) would be minimized.

Suggestion: as a subbulllet here you could go with "To help further Kagome's educational agenda down the line."

I think implosion seals might be configurable to slowly draw in air instead of grabbing it all at once. Although I honestly don't remember. @faflec @Radvic do any of you remember how prepping/priming implosion seals is supposed to work?
I doubt it. Implosion seals function because the massive inrush of air to hit the seal destroys the seal. Seems unlikely to configure them to slowly draw the air in, as that would prevent the damage. Obviously, making such a modification could lead to ease of making stacked implosion nukes.

This aligns with my goals 80-90% and it will hopefully put the Akane issue to bed, so thats great.

Really, if you just put the till-n-fill subsidizing thing and the Ami favor economy emulation remark in there it would perfect. Any chance we could do that? Some wordcount could be trimmed to make room, and I'll Noumero it for you if thats what it takes.

You've at least listened to my bitching and moaning. Here's a vote, though I will probably vote for Oneiros's plan if it comes down to the wire.

Is "Try emulating Ami's favor economy: offer better-paying missions (till-n-fill), training, healing, seals..." insufficient?

Well, from my read, you don't actually have us go to the mission desk and drop a pile of money down and go "This is to supplement pay for all the till-n-fills and also create more, please."

This might be important, since IIRC the pay for these missions are generally shit, and also theyre not so numerous. So its not really a good bargaining chip if we dont do that.

Another question about using the Till-n-fills as a bargaining chip: Aren't these missions first come first serve?

They don't seem to be assigned to anyone as a priority, but instead are just given to ninja who are looking for work in their downtime. In which case a little co-ordination may need to go into when we drop money off to subsidize till-n-fills. Meaning, we'd likely have to tell the clanless ninja that we have higher paying missions for them right after or right before we went to the mission's office to subsidize the mission. Otherwise any random ninja could pick up the jobs that we subsidized.

Not really an issue with the plan, just something worth noting.

Hm...looking over the threadmark I just linked to my plan, I wonder if paying a logistics officer (or bugging Keiko) to check on till'n'fill distribution would be worth it. Maybe we could specify to fund till'n'fills that are highly valuable (for civilians) but not being taken as much, or something?

@faflec would you be open to fleshing out your networking section with "We can tip you off before boosting certain mission bounties (till-n-fills) , healing, sell you seals..." etc?

E: I would also support acquiring logistics officer or pretty pleasing Keiko into it

"Check till-n-fill distribution" -> "Collect data on till-n-fill distributions"

Second is better IMO. You can cut some of my grandfathered in hyperbole in the "IN CASE OF SUPER TRAUMATIC NEWS BREAK GLASS" bit I think to fit it?
