Isn't this a Nara secret?

Nara-printed books were available in the public (ninja-only?) library in Leaf, so it's at best a Leaf-nin secret. Are Jiraiya's books machine-printed also, because they are known to be available in all the major nations?

Did we just ignored Jiraiya for the sake of our own agenda?

I think it more likely that our pet ANBU was following our prior orders to make it seem like the offer was on a clock.

"Yep. Basically, you don't want to tell them anything about Leaf that they might find useful. Not right now. You can talk about high standards of living, and libraries, and the printing press isn't a secret either. But if you think back to what you knew about Leaf when you lived in Mist, that's a good guideline. I know you want to tell your mother absolutely everything, but that has to wait until the diplomatic situation changes. A lot. Remember that if she's still alive, Mist certainly isn't going to harm a hair on her head while she has a blood tie to the Hokage's clan.

Books are readily available, including manga(which is probably expensive since they needed to be carved).

[X] Action Plan: Shin Splint

Lunch with Shin.
  • Guidelines:
    • Observe OPSEC, stay alert, avoid hard commitments.
    • Be confident. Shin isn't a jounin.
    • He is a silver-tongued viper. Keep your cool. Respond to taunts/manipulations with dry amusement.
  • Start the interaction amicably.
    • Minor flexing: casually name-drop Ami for the regulars' menu. Mention your promotion, ask about his.
  • Elaborate on your offer/intentions:
    • Cooperation was our motto all exam. We're here to build bridges.
    • We're also offering an enormous boost to his career here.
    • (As a callback, order a bottle of Kurohige's Revenge and glasses (shallow pours, save the rest).)
  • Invite him to game night.
  • Inivite Zabuza to game night.
    • Get Jiraiya to help with this if possible.

Added inviting Zabuza for game night.

Everything is going so well recently. Couple more updates like this, and we may really need to consider rebranding to "Marked for Nice Things".

  • Run the plan through Jiraiya, Noburi, and Keiko (unless already done).
    • Also, brainstorm game night + possible problems:
      • What does the guest list look like, and what shenanigans can people pull with plus-twos (e.g., Shin bringing Ren)?
      • Are there any teams that would make Bad Things happen?
      • What games to include? Should we modify them (e.g., increase difficulty)?
        • Draw from previous experiences (ISC games) and assume players are better than Hazou at munchkinry and metagaming.
      • Do we have enough games? Maybe hire someone to make replicas.
      • What conflicts could happen, and how should we deescalate?
      • Contingencies for potential disasters.
  • Lunch with Shin.

      • Ask for his response ("So what's it gonna be?").
    • Invite him to game night.
  • Go see Hana again.
    • No fighting, spend some nice time with your mom.
    • Confide about the Ami debacle. Avoid details that might breach OPSEC.
      • How do you deal with people like that?
      • The hell is with that Jonin aura crap anyway? It sucks.
    • Give her the biggest of bear hugs.
    • Invite her to game night.

A fair point, three scenes is a lot.
I'm more concerned that we would want to throw 1-200 words into game night related things in the plan, to ensure that it goes smoothly and advances goals.

Plus, Ami is bringing the heat. Can't just roll over in this instance. There are games to be played and people to be entertained.

TBF I'm at ~150 words, it wouldn't be hard to get the game night scene being <150 words. Still, and again, three big scenes is a lot.

I suppose it depends on if @Velorien is eager for a game night scene. The Keiko chapter implies there will potentially be heavy Ami involvement.

        • Get Zabuza's signature as well. Addressed to "the one that got away".

Clarify on the issue of Zabuza so we don't die a swift death.

If you're gonna get Zabz' signature like that, clear it with Jiraiya, and do it in private (that is, Hazou, Zabuza, and Jiraiya)

    • Zabuza will probably not kill Team Uplift because that will cause an international incident?

Implement @Sentient Tree suggestion. Added my own idea of letting Ren knows.
