J is command structure, we needed his approval....it also implies that Keiko and Noburi can't offer anything of value, while J can, so....this objection has gains and losses in it.

@QMs, out of curiousity, what was the game-design reasoning behind making initiative order simply the order of Alertness, rather than making Alertness checks (with the potential for dice and Aspects to change things)?

Since it looks like @Inferno Vulpix' plan isn't going to be easy to trim down to 300 words, I guess we can either just cut some sections, or eat the XP loss and put in a more verbose version of the Noburi conversation. I kinda want the latter, since he deserves it, and our inquiry into his family situation keeps getting delayed. Thoughts?

I am fine with ditching the bonus XP as long as the situation calls for it. Doubly so if it wraps up this entire Mist arc in a timely manner while accomplishing what we need to accomplish.

To clarify, Pandaa is about to leave. Strictly speaking he's already left as of the end of the update, but I'm prepared to stretch the timeline for a brief expansion of the message.
Mainly the fact that initiative checks happen before your character reacts. Thus you're not allowed to try to modify initiative in any way (with a few special-case exceptions), including spending FP on it. I forget why it's not a roll, but I suspect the desire for a rare moment of rules simplicity was a factor.

- Add to Pandaa's message that there will probably be more Ami developments and we don't want to leave Keiko's feelings and input out when they happen.
- Talk to Noburi:
- He deserves a proper explanation of the Ami situation.
- There was a reason that we haven't mentioned: we hoped there was a chance Ami and Keiko could reconcile.
- Explain our suspicions about Ami's behaviour and the possible reasons for it.
- Mari didn't believe Ami would betray Keiko. Neither did Keiko herself. That counts for something.
- Ami went out of her way to intercept Keiko before she could interact with the Mori in any way.
- If Ami is so smart and competent, then wouldn't this result - of Keiko staying away from the Mori - be what she intended?
- We didn't want to give Keiko false hope, and that's part of why we didn't want to tell her about the meeting beforehand.
- Explain our suspicions about Ami's behaviour and the possible reasons for it.
- We also didn't want to make Noburi keep a secret from Keiko too.
- We should've told Keiko immediately after returning, didn't expect the marriage letter.
- Hazou is sorry for how things turned out. Does Noburi think he was wrong to even try?
- Ask about how he thinks we can help Keiko when she comes back.

I don't know how I can make it more assertive without Hazou coming off as a douche. I was trying to change the tone of that conversation from apologetic to explanatory, with an undercurrent that Hazou doesn't accept a priori that he was wrong to do what he did.
And, well, that plan name just sounds cool. I wonder if there's a metal band out there named that way....
