On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

[X] Plan Metal and Torques
-[X] Teach your apprentice. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 0 turns. Apprentices can now be released into the world
--[X] Release them: Your prodigious young niece is of a level of skill, if not age, that she can begin the journeyman's trial. It will be perilous, but considering the state of things right now, it's unlikely she'll leave the immediate area or the hold for a while yet. [Cost: 1 apprentice action permanently] Gain 1 Action once the apprentice is released next turn.
-[X] [Simple] Apprentice work: [Cost: variable apprentice actions.] Roll for usefulness. 1 Roll per apprentice action. 1 Apprentice action.
-[X] [Simple] Torques A Plenty: Elder Brokk has asked you specifically to create a set of Runic Torques, all meant to facilitate proper communication between what is clearly an avian and a dwarf. You remember Master Yorri told you about the time he bargained a few feathers off a Great Eagle. He never told you how, but you remember being taught a few odd runes in your past, just have to figure out which combination worked for Master Yorri. Maybe his book has something? Worst come to worst you could send a letter to the Dwarf. [Cost: (3-1) =2 Actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc. 2 Actions
-[X] The Rune Metal Pt. 4: You've made Adamant, a form of Gromril harder and stronger than any you've ever seen. The metal abhors magic, even that of Runes to some extent, making it difficult to inscribe on the metal itself. You need to find a way to make this in a less explosive fashion, and maybe figure out what exactly its properties are.[Cost: (8 -3) =5 actions] Student of the Odd and Mind for Metal will proc. 3 Actions.
-[X]Write-in: Tier 3 Dragonhide.
--[X] Kingly Authority: You may petition King Otrek to flex his political muscle to expedite the process. [Cost: 5,10,15, Favour from King Otrek, depending on tier] -1 turn taken on order.
--[X] Kingly Authority: Order Tier 2 Obsidian.
...we don't have five actions. We have four, it doesn't change whether we release Snerra or not.

...That does not explain why we can't do torques and rune metal this turn while still being able get the dowry done by the timeline. No really, explain why not.
Even if we let the apprentice go this turn, the extra 1 Action doesn't start applying until next turn. We can only have 4 Actions to play with and Research requires 3 while Torques requires 2.

We must pick only one of them to finish this turn, and the other next turn.

I'm clearly in favor of doing Research First.

That's what I'm doing in the plan I made, actually. He, however, is referring to finishing it immediately.

There aren't enough actions available to finish both Torque and Rune metal this turn. We could half-ass both, but that just means both gets done next turn. We can finish one and half-ass another to get a better result next turn, but the question is whether or not it's worth it (probably not worth it).

So, the question boils down to what is more important:

1. The sanctity of our own word (and prevent grudge formation) and the safety of our home

or

2. Fulfilling our curiosity immediately

Note that option 1 is time-sensitive (we just don't know how much time). So, going for option 2 first could harm us and make option 1 no longer an option next turn. On the other hand, Option 1 does not prevent option 2 from being selected.

So, that is why I chose option 1 this turn and will select option 2 next turn.

Edite: To be clear, that is why I voted for Plan:

You're an idiot if you honestly think Brokk waiting an extra ten years is anything close to grudge worthy. These is also no danger to the Hold, Grimnir just got done campaigning in our area, if there was anything that could have threatens us before that it is now very dead.

This also isn't about satisfying our curiosity it's about using our actions as efficiently as possible. The sooner we finish Rune Metal the sooner we learn if we need anything more to begin Adamant production.

Looking at things looks like I made a mistake and was wrong about being able to do them both in the same turn. Still think you are over blowing things in regards to the torques to the point of just flat out fear mongering which is just a dick move in my opinion since it's outright emotion manipulation and again fear mongering. We already know that Brokk is actually able to communicate with the Griffin leader to a point and they are getting along well. Not to mention that finishing the Metal rune would give us another rune to potentially use for the Dowry.

If you are going to try to make points for your argument would suggest not using fear mongering.

This appears to be your standard way of interacting: anything that you don't agree with is fearmongering or guilt tripping or any other sort of manipulation rather than addressing the points themselves. It made participating in Loki Quest more unpleasant than it needed to be. Please, either stop it, or please stop quoting me or directly interacting with me. I don't want to see this very fun quest with its fine discussion go down the path that these types of assertions will cause.
