On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

[X] Plan Plate Polishing and Dragon Cloaks Prep
-[X] Teach your apprentice. [Cost: 1 Action] Locked in for 0 turns. Apprentices can now be released into the world
--[X] Release them: Your prodigious young niece is of a level of skill, if not age, that she can begin the journeyman's trial. It will be perilous, but considering the state of things right now, it's unlikely she'll leave the immediate area or the hold for a while yet. [Cost: 1 apprentice action permanently] Gain 1 Action once the apprentice is released next turn.
-[X] [Simple] Apprentice work: [Cost: variable apprentice actions.] Roll for usefulness. 1 Roll per apprentice action. 1 Apprentice action.
-[X] [Difficult] Dowry Pt. 1: [Cost: 1 action] Due in 4 Turns. If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you. Format for multi-item requests at the bottom of the update. 1 Actions.
--[] Theme: The King's Cloak: "A relentless, unstoppable and valiant King." Make the cloak using Dragonhide.
--[] Theme: The Heir's Cloak: "A redoubtable, vital and skilled Heir." Make the cloak using Dragonhide.
--[] Theme: The Bride's Amulet: "Protect the daughter against all ills." Make the amulet using Pure Gromril, Silver Wutroth and Hearthstones for the amulet's body.
-[X] The Rune Metal Pt. 4: You've made Adamant, a form of Gromril harder and stronger than any you've ever seen. The metal abhors magic, even that of Runes to some extent, making it difficult to inscribe on the metal itself. You need to find a way to make this in a less explosive fashion, and maybe figure out what exactly its properties are.[Cost: (8 -3) =5 actions] Student of the Odd and Mind for Metal will proc. 3 Actions.
-[X]Write-in: Tier 3 Dragonhide.
--[X] Kingly Authority: You may petition King Otrek to flex his political muscle to expedite the process. [Cost: 5,10,15, Favour from King Otrek, depending on tier] -1 turn taken on order.
--[X] Kingly Authority: Order Tier 2 Obsidian.

So with this plan the idea is to fork some really good materials into this commission so that its ready to go next turn. This way we can have five actions available next turn so two actions to finish the Griffons and do three actions into the Dowry if we have the hide, giving five actions into it for two overflow. If we don't have the Hide we can do research into Wutroth or something similar, or work on the Armor Commission if we want.

The idea for the themes here are to see if we'll be given a rune not on the lists and to experiment with the theming function of Difficult requests. The ideas here are to do things that synergize with either the King's other equipment and to help him stay moving and fighting, the Heir's stuff is for complimenting his steadfast if young personality and the amulet is to just ultra super protect Orra and her children as she passes it down.

Then finish the Rune Metal so we're set up for doing the Armor Commission on Turn 17 if at all possible. The orders are done so that we don't have to worry about components, and the max a Tier 3 can take to arrive with Kingly Authority is 3 turns.

[X] Plan: I Want What I Want

While I'd prefer to keep our apprentice for a decade or two, I believe that finishing Torques to improve the security of our home and also to keep our word (and potentially prevent a grudge against us for giving our word and going back on it) is worth not splitting the vote.

It is far more important to finish our obligations and to help secure the safety of our home than it is to pursue our own projects to fulfill our curiosity.

If we want progress with the Griffons then we can't leave the Torques fallow. That means inefficient Research of Rune Metal, which means that doing the Dowry to figure out what Materials for Runes we want to order is efficient and leaves 1 action free. I put it in Odd Places because I can't think of proper Themes for the other two Rune Works.

We can do Rune Metal next turn while we order more materials for the commission and then do the Dowry Commission two turns from now.
What do you mean about 'ineffecient' metal rune research? We can literally finish it this turn and even do the Torques in said turn.

For crying out loud, we're going to finish the Torques, that not's gonna change. But the Rune Metal is more important. We can do overwork to make up for the time.

We need to finish this commission
We can literally finish the commission by the deadline. We don't need to do it as soon as possible and i really hate that people are trying to guilt trip us. This is a quest that people play for fun. As long as we can get things done I don't see any issue in doing things like research. The whole 'we need to do this now' thing is especially annoying as hell since it's pretty much turning the quest into a chore/work when people do want to have fun as well.

-[X] [Simple] Apprentice work: [Cost: variable apprentice actions.] Roll for usefulness. 1 Roll per apprentice action. 1 Apprentice action.
-[X] [Simple] Torques A Plenty: Elder Brokk has asked you specifically to create a set of Runic Torques, all meant to facilitate proper communication between what is clearly an avian and a dwarf. You remember Master Yorri told you about the time he bargained a few feathers off a Great Eagle. He never told you how, but you remember being taught a few odd runes in your past, just have to figure out which combination worked for Master Yorri. Maybe his book has something? Worst come to worst you could send a letter to the Dwarf. [Cost: (3-1) =2 Actions] Productivity Like No Other will proc. 1 Action
-[X] The Rune Metal Pt. 4: You've made Adamant, a form of Gromril harder and stronger than any you've ever seen. For people who are determined to look like we're doing something on the Torques now. I still favor Bungie's, but for crying out loud stop getting distracted please.

damn it I really want to keep snerra to make her the best that we can before unleashing her into the world

One thing that might be useful, is to hold our apprentice for one turn, and get a new one, so that she has experience teaching others. Then release her next turn, a little bit more prepared for when she eventually takes apprentices of her own.

The problem is that Torques has already been delayed and our delay is actually impacting another Dwarf's ability to help secure the safety of our home.

Rune Metal, while important, is not actually currently time sensitive nor is it impacting another Dwarf's work, a dwarf who we told we would help over two decades ago. So, in actuality, it makes more sense to do Rune Metal next turn and this turn do Torques.

[X] Plan: I Want What I Want

It's better to do the Rune Metal when we have five actions to play around with in my opinion. Heck, I'd even support a plan to sink five actions into Rune Metal next turn, just to see how the overflow looks like, though I suspect four actions on Rune Metal and one on our commission would likely have more support.

I don't see it as being fun, though. I'm playing this fun. We overdid Trollslayer and that was inefficient, but I loved it. Getting Rune Metal finished sooner than later is fun too.

...That does not explain why we can't do torques and rune metal this turn while still being able get the dowry done by the timeline. No really, explain why not.
