On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Looking at their current statline, they're already at "Supreme Endurance, High+ Attack, [and] Incredible Defence!"

It definitely is going to improve their Defense beyond incredible, but I'm not sure how much it would really improve their Attack unless we upgrade their weaponry to Adamant too.

Also, oof. We have "Below Average Movement." That makes sense for a group of dawi but we really ought to make them a Banner that helps with that. Either that or dedicate one of the runes on their new armor to something that buffs movement.

That, or we hand out movement-boosting talismans on mass. Do we have any regular runes or combos made entirely from regular runes that would help with that?

EDIT: Actually, we can't hand out talisman to the group. To certain members, yes. Not to the group though.
Nah, we can hand out talismans to the group. Its part of the "Equipping them wholesale" clause, which we used to give them weapons and armor and talismans in the first place. Those slot limits you were looking at are for the Champion.

And yes the Attack boost will come from their weapons when we get to that, I was speaking in the context of All of their various kit upgrades. Fortunately Azrilzhuffgotten is going to fix their movement issues.

It just occurred to me:

What kind of message are we sending to our grandnoodles that the massive drak gronti we're about to design is not a shard wyrm like them but instead a storm wyrm.

...This seems like an unforced error.
I think this is imagining insult where there is one.

Imagine my daughters horror when I white man, show her the oil painting I made of a black man. What kind of message am I sending her?

This isn't a good analogy, because it neglects cultural significance and production.

The storm drak may very well be the only drak gronti we make, and assuming we don't fumble it like a beardling it will be considered a masterpiece and possibly the idealization of a drak.

Oh god. The people who think culture mores can be shifted with the power of Big Statue are back.
I thought we stamped this out previously with the "Stop the Slayer cult by making a statue of Warrior Grimnir" cult.

No thats stupid. Just because we made one Storm Dragon doesn't mean we thought Storm Dragons are the ideal dragon, it means that we felt like it, that we were considering a storm themed combo and therefore this was the most aesthetically cohesive to the entire design and that we've got Donril and Hearthstones for the eyes, so our two choices were Storm or Fire so it was actually only a coinflip.
You're making it into something that it isn't.

You realise that we can play this game back the otherway? What message does it send to the Shard Dragons if we proceeded to build a bigger one of them? Seems to be a more clear cut replacement.
Knock off the worrying, its possible anything could offend anyone if you think your way into how it could happen, that doesn't mean its any measure of likely to happen.

The Dragons we have are shard dragons, subterranean beings that do not yearn for the sky.
And given they have been raised by dwarfs, they probably don't consider not being able to fly a big loss.

Also, from a practical point of view, the dragon gronti is going to go on the highest tower of Khazagar. It needs to be able to fly down.

Also from their perspective, why would they necessarily care about the draconic form of the creation their distant Grandsire makes? Izgrom may care about the refinement of the Gromril, Zharrok may care about the extremely fine craftsmanship, Grimgal may care about the way magic acts around it and the runes on it. But these are all parts of it and not focused upon the fact its a dragon.

I think the only reason they may care about that it is a dragon is if they learn that Karstah suggested and designed it, at which point they will probably approve that Grandsire took on Caretaker's advice.

Basically, the things that they've actually expressed interest in do not really include other dragons. Which makes sense, Dragons are somewhat solitary beings by nature and have specific things they take special interest in.

And, at the end of the day they are not constantly seeking Snorri's attention. They seek Karstah's, which indicates they spend much more time thinking about her opinion and thoughts than they do Snorri's.

More specifically let me know if you have any questions, what you think of the format changes, and if you spot any old fragments, things I said I would do but I missed. :^)
Related to this specifically I have a hunch that the Simple research Progress is going to have a much larger impact than might initially be expected. And this is a good thing, since it'll pull up those projects which have unfortunately been neglected and slowly reshape our research list entirely.

E: Logically some of those Simple research projects will turn into Difficult ones, but that's okay and only something we need to consider in the future.

New month, new art. One more piece after this and we'll have art of every Runelord in Kraka Drakk so far!
:^)
Always get a weird feeling when I see art of the dwarfs in the quest, though not in a bad way mind you. Guess it's just because I keep imagining them in human terms. Like Lorna feels distinctly younger then Snorri in a lot of ways, so I envision her as being...I don't know, in her forties or fifties or something. Or Snorri's apprentices all feel like they're in their twenties, maybe thirties for the older ones. Then we get art of them and I'm like "Oh right, they're all hundreds of years old and have existed for longer then some real world civilizations."

Getting the real White Beard Grumbler experience, all of these younglings are barely worth being called beardlings and the like lol
