On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

[ ] [Dum] Tailor your Report
- [ ] Conservative: Try and earn the respect and interest of the more conservative members of the House. Emphasize the creativity of Dum's last Runesmiths, the efforts of Gazul, the securing of Guild Secrets and the elimination of any and all Frurndar and their foul assistance.
- [ ] Radical: Try and earn the respect and interest of the more radical members of the House. Talk about the existence of the mammoth, the resourcefulness of Dum's last Runesmiths, the safeguarding of the Guild's Secrets and the death of the Frurndar and their ertwhile allies.
- [ ] Yourself: Emphasize what actually interests you and what you feel is most important. The potential research, the survival of the untainted their subsequent clearing by Gazul, the odd phenomena encountered like the passing of time, the magic wielding Dawi and the armoured Beastmen.
[ ] [Dum] Be factual and as objective as possible. You are here to inform and give opinions if asked, nothing more, nothing less. You can't say for certain if it's the best use of the opportunity, but some people will doubtlessly appreciate your attempt at objectivity. The question is whether they'll be Dwarfs whose opinions you particularly care for.
The factual and objective option doesn't have a dash in front of it which may interfere with the automated vote count since it won't register as a suboption of Tailor your Report.

It doesn't have a dash because its a separate option than Tailor your report. Its either Tailor your report for (blank) *or* be factual and objective instead of trying to influence one group or another.

While healing sounds nice at first glance, I think that home would be better overall. Using that Rune for Kraka Drakk's gates and walls will surely make them sturdier as long as Dwarfs consider it their home or something like that.

Hearth probably boost moral or improves the productivity in our workshop(?). Healing is obvious and it would give the Dwarfs another option, should the Forged Limb fall out of favour.

Hard choice.

Rune of Sight, Rune of Spelleating, Rune of Stacking - Wind Scowl - Let the bearer see the Wind magic so they can give it a proper glare. What is the eye, if not a container for light?
Just a reminder, Runes don't like abstracts.
Rune of Sight, Rune of Brotherhood, Rune of Smednir/Rune of Morgrim - Dronit Baragdrin (?) Dok - Witness the actions of another and duplicate their feat with precision and skill.
The ancestor Runes probably won't do what you want, Morgrim would probably just be like a Rune of forgint. Smednir might do something but only in a crafting context.
I've just caught up. This was a fun read.

Are there any plans in the works for making the Grimnir golem, axes, armor? That's been lying on our option list since the Great Throng.
Eh, don't read them being on the option list as meaningful, golem and banner and somethings have been on there because players requested them.
Holo Runes - Is it possible for a Rune to be constructed out of beams of light?
This isn't a Light tree problem, its a "What even is a rune?" problem.
Laser carving - A hammer and chisel are the more traditional tools. That is not the same as saying no other tool is capable of being used, as long as the Runesmith is the one guiding the laser.
Dubious, again this is a what even is a rune question.
The idea is to use alchemy to create those once in a century items. And if it can create T5 metal from T4 it can probably create what we need. At great cost.
Do people really believe this? Or is it just a couple wildly optimistic individuals?
EDIT: Fixed. Don't use "Time" in square brackets folks. It's some function that I have no idea what it actually does but it exists.
I think its used to convert to each users preferred time zone.
think I was the one to mention the idea of self healing underway sections
more like we need self realligning sections.

So, it seems that the success of survival brongs its own issues. My first thought would be that the priestesses of Valaya, or the goddess herself, is leery of a low-key splintering of the Karaz Ankor, as the cultural differences between North snd South (and maybe East) start to widen. In OTL this was avoided, as there was only the South, but as differences grow, grumbling will get louder and and louder. We saw the religous debate that arose, and things will slowly escalate with the effeczs of the Barana, the elgi trade and Snorri. I'm pretty sure there are quite a few other things as well. I would say don't rock the boat when the high priestess of Valaya tells us to cool our heels and go traditional teaching. Not sure about the others yet.

@soulcake was there more info in the thread about the bad old days and social norms that the new, Valaya made social structure ended? How much does Snorri know about it?

I definitely don't want to go around breaking too many traditions too quickly, even if only temporarily. I say just the traditional method of teaching, perhaps work on the dissemination of knowledge with less, shall we say, important, knowledge.

I say we stick with traditional teaching methods, at least for now. Runelore just isn't put to parchment, and we don't have anything approaching the prestige, age, or reputation needed to challenge that.

Also, am I the only one who got some rather unpleasant implications from the Zorn split being due to the 'Old Rights of Kings', especially after the comments on how Valaya changed dwarven culture?

I dunno if there's a compromise on security for the book if we put down basically an engineering manual and then just said "Put a rune that does _____ at location X".
That would open it up to Runesmith/Runelords who already might know an acceptable rune, and would introduce a precedent without tickling the conservatives beards. On the other hand it might just tick off the engineers as we are trespassing on their domain.
It wouldn't be appropriate as a teaching method but it does start adding precedent incase in future we want to make a book.

But there are no traditions being broken. The book creation is explicitly a traditional way to pass on knowledge.

it could also be aHearthguard boost. Or if we go with traditional heath importance (Hestia) it could also influence common cause with other Dwarves. A diplomacy boost or something as it further embodies family bonds.

Morale,Diplo or hearthguard. It sounds like a winner considering we're the literal odd duck especially here down south.

we see Gazul stuff of Cut/Fire/Fate combo and how they gel together

don't assume the rune do as you think it does

I'd say as objective as possible and no books.

We are already rocking the boat so books would be a bit to much, and I simply dislike the idea of using something as solum as this report as a method of reputation control.

It's done, but it's not traditionally done. Or at least, that's the impression I get; that it's a fairly radical method of passing on runic knowledge.

I think Hearth and teaching are by far the most suited for Snorri but the Dum question is more difficult.
Not really happy about any of the choices, so factual is probably the best.

i wouldn't go for book

C-Dorf have gone for the stealth route since they lost their bases, book mean that they have way to get the info on how to make Chain Gromgril

they may not be able to supply Chaos with weapon on big scale now but they still can make thing for them, and do not want Chaos Warrior or Everchosen to have access to Chainmail Gromgril

[X] [Forger] Both.

[X] Gromthi Rinri: Healing

We shouldn't forget about the prior Rhunkalbrogg. We made a specific impression of judging our work and that of others based upon how it benefits the respective hold. We could either double down on that impression or try to get bonus points with a specific faction. I don't think that the strictly objective choice would benefit us at all. It wouldn't make many enemies, but it also wouldn't make us friends either. Right now we are bound to politically upset many parties, so siding with someone should be considered.

4 options:
- appease the consevatives
- try to get the radicals on your side, but put the conservatives against you
- be yourself and see what happens (might appease both or infuriate both)
- try to be as objective as possible and don't take a stance

We already gave our support to Clan Metalheart, so I'm not sure wether the fourth one is even an option.
