On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Darn, no pressure release on our no doubt mountains of anti ogre/chaos toys for the beardlings

if we ever get a free turn with nothing important, we could divert all 5 actions to making toys for every hold in the north, compared to the beginning char gen we are MASSIVELY more productive especially with barak azamar and zharrgaral

Hmm, it just clicked for me. Now that Otrek is dead his armor, cloak, and Trollslayer are now worn and wielded by Gloin. And Gloins armor and cloak are now worn by Gimli.

I really want to make a weapon for the Heir set now, just so Gimli is fully kitted out.

We already make so many toys that the Temple of Valya in our hold will no longer accept them. Making even more doesn't sound like a good use of our time

He's already fully kitted out though with rune weapons Karstah made for him. We can make a weapon for his first kid though that ties into the Heir set without displacing Karstah's work.

E: Basically, I'm enthused with making a weapon meant to play very nicely with the Heir's set, but I'd rather do it like we did Rik Hunken.

Gimli commisioned weapons from Karstah. The 3 elemental axes one.

Also, I don't want to give the heir a weapon because of the image it portrays. Sure, we know that a king will have to have martial strength to defend his people, but an heir (if they aren't Gimli) might have a focus away from martial pursuits.

Also, giving an obvious hole in the heir equipment can double as a simple test to both the heir and whoever gets commisioned into making a weapon fit for them. Heck, it could even triple as a way to engendering relations between the heir and the craftsmen subjects of their generation by giving them an "ultimate target" for beardlings to aim for. Something that would persist everytime a new heir comes about.

Elder Moira told us that she couldn't even give away any of our toys to any of the Valayan temples of the north because their vaults were already full.
Hahaha time to send the rest souuuuthhhhh!!! Instill the love of craftsmanship in each Beard and Plaitling!

Soon we'll have gratitude and debt owed to us across the entire old world!

Maybe we should send toys to elves and Umgi tribes?

Ohh better yet. Encourage our prosthetics students to make these as practice for limb articulation!

can't send it to umgi yet haven't made contact buttt their is robust trade now with ulthan and with our wealth we could easily afford to pay some elves to have them carry toys to ulthan

I'm sort of hoping Snorri will run into another Ancestor, or one of their direct children.

Because it feels like he's on the precipice. Between a 'normal' living ancestor, and the Whitebeards/Yorris/Kragg the Grims of the world.

Snorri has somewhat escaped the full weight of it before because his family seems to make a habit of living long - Jorri doesn't seem any more inclined to kick the bucket early than their mother did - but he's starting to acknowledge what it means now.

It's been building since the earliest posts, we saw it go through things like the acceptance of creating new armor, and "die for something better than that", and the realization that yes, he WAS the sort of Dawi that Longbeards want to serve. It looks like Otrek's death finally has the true potential scope of it crystallizing for Snorri himself though. I suspect that's the point where many with the potential falter.

speaking of legendaries. Think we can find and train Alaric the Mad?

Maybe hitch him to Snerra? The babies they'll make will be auto critting like there's no tomorrow.

I was there for the first part.

Then the second part made me cringe hard enough to almost crack my spine.

Among other things the gift doesn't seem to work that way, and thank god for that.

Snorri: "They say that there is a fine line between genius and madness, but in this case I'm willing to build a wall between it."
Haha we both know Snorri won't stop at a mere wall.

I was joking about the second part. We already told her she was her own rune lord. And if we're training Alaric then he's too young for her anyway.

Tis impossible.

Assuming alaric was born a thousand years before he made the runefangs, that would still be at least two thousand years in the future. Probably more.

I would hope Snerra finds someone she likes long before she has to resort to that degree of cradle robbing.

Even Fjolla managed and she is notoriously picky.
I'd be surprised if Snerra's beerguard isn't beating suitors away for her (she's too nice to beat them away herself).
