I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Vragni is the self proclaimed rival of Snorri in the Far North. Self proclaimed because Snorri doesn't even consider him a rival back, they just so happen to have somewhat similar productivity work ethics so Vragni got jealous of being compared to Snorri. Snorri just thinks it's a bit of healthy competition for Vragni, probably not realizing how serious Vragni is about being his rival.

I was making a joke about Vragni seeing himself as Snorri's Great Rival, while Snorri barely even thinks about him.

I mean, Snorri never even told Karstah about him...

Actually that is one conversation which will be extremely amusing. Karstah asking about Snorri's rivalry with Vragni while Snorri just grumbles about the impterinent youth.

wouldn't even grumble, would just go, "Who? I don't have any rivals named Vragni?"
 
The best possible scene with the dwarf in question would be to greet him like... not a friend. We don't really do that the way humanity does. But like a respected colleague or bright apprentice.

Tell him we voted for him at the Rhunkhalbrogg.
Encourage him, and complement his productivity.
Give him some suggestions about how he can improve his productivity.

That would drive him completely nuts :V
