On a clear spring morning, a message is created, ringing loud and clear across steppe and amber plain.
"Crow be praised! We just killed the nomad King! Hurrah for the War Chief!"
The message finds root in gossip and rumour, first amongst camp-dwellers and civilians.
Ymaryn Camp Follower: "...the sky was filled with missiles, sir! So many at one time that we couldn't see the sun! And when we came to bury the dead, the battlefield..."
It follows a trail west, into the rich cities of the Core.
Valleyhome Guildmaster: "...was just littered with our King's Iron, according to my sources. Tools, fastings, crossbow bolts... Most if not all having been produced by this Guild, or subsidiaries. I can't help but thinking, 'and we made this?!' Not only that, but I believe that..."
It heads east and south, to be scrutinized by those with watchful eyes and minds.
Highlander Agent: "...the Ymaryn are currently mobilizing their forces again after that rousing victory, and once they vanquish the nomad threat may soon have the force to muster arms against our sacred cause. The results of which could be catastrophic..."
It travels across a sea, into a fierce and independent land...
Freehill Clansman: "...because if Ymaryn is capable of this, they are more than capable of destroying if they should see fit. Watch closely the forests, dear free brothers, for while it might bear great bounty it is also the home of a sleeping dragon..."
And through a strait and into the windswept dunes of a faraway foreign polity.
Khemetri Priest: "...and I have seen it with my own eyes, this sleeping beast that is the Forest People. Once, they rained fire from the skies. Mayhaps those days be over, but it seems they have replaced this holy mandate with cold steel and the masses of bodies clad in metal..."
Over many months, underneath many roofs, with many different audiences and processions, the news of the defeat and destruction of the Forhuch is spread far and wide. And, like a single entity, the entire world at once came to a single agreement:
"Hey guys, let's NOT fuck with those crazy forest freaks for a while, yeah? Sounds like it would be a bad idea..."
I'm pretty sure the steppe nomads are also attacking us on a Take the Crown CB. Our 'king' legacies should remain active until we finish them. And "The King Still Stands" once again showed itself not very useful, as we have ended the war before the full turn. I am still unsatisfied with the choice we made back there - though maybe it'll evolve with our victory here.
Pretty sure the nomads use the "Fuck you, we're nomads!" CB most of the time.I'm pretty sure the steppe nomads are also attacking us on a Take the Crown CB. Our 'king' legacies should remain active until we finish them.
Fixed the incorrect englishI just imagine the sound of a plane lifting off but louder and more of them at once
Maybe poisoned, but trying to take him out by knives or ambush is likely to fail.
True, but if they felt they had the chance of gaining the title as well? Quite possible that they coul've tried to bum-rush things so they would be the next KOTH instead of the douche we just duped.Pretty sure the nomads use the "Fuck you, we're nomads!" CB most of the time.
*sees something that is the exact opposite of what Alyx is recommending*I wish we could write in.
I would have split our army into thirds, one for each company with levies attached. Then we could send units to fight the HK while securing mountains.
Also it's seems we have a Bismark Problem. Winning too much and now the enemy can't surrender. It's even worse since without nationalism the enemy is basically no more now and will become a different group in the future.
Right, we can expect not to hit another 10 Martial conversion(by my understanding the 10 Martial was converted from Econ because 10 Martial worth of our Levies were not just blooded, but became full time soldiers through veterancy/commendation during the campaign)This amount was very unusual.
A king who rides home without his army is no longer a king, and kings are only not kings when dead.
Pretty much. The Horse Mountains actually reduce the border we need to secure, because that means we only need to defend the Spirit Channel and the Horse Pass(tentative name until we learn what its called), both narrow choke points which can be easily fortified, rather than the whole length of the Lowland Border. There is a big geographical reason to take HM over, though: mountain passes into Lowlands.
It is way too far and we will need to invest a lot of Influences and roads-in-that-exact-direction to control them, but it's worthwhile investment if we intend to hold to Lowlands.
As long as voters understand what a task it is going to be, that is. Hope colonies debacle taught us a lesson there.
@Academia Nut
How exactly does PK and the academies react to a hero being promoted to a king? Do their increase the stats of only those people specifically rolled for kingship, or do they increase the competence of heroes (where possible) if they are chosen as the next king?
When horse mountains are secure i'll remove it....Does that mean we can remove it now?
The amount of tags we have is a bit ridiculous.
Err, no offense, but that was mentioned in the update post:
So 10 econ->martial (and presumably the free light cav) were from a genius getting double crits, so i dont think we can expect another conversion of quite that scale. I'd personally expect only ~2-3 a phase without the genius, maybe 4 or 5 with the genius, assuming no more ridiculousness
@Academia Nut i dont suppose at this point we'll get a legacy for destroying civilizations? We've got 2 direct (Forhuch and Xohyr), one we actively contributed (Hathatyn), one we contributed (Pure, by way of fighting them and getting them to catch our plague), and one we kind of accidentally-ed (Trelli, who iirc died because first our economic policies crashed their economy, and then our bioweapon program produced the plague that finished them off)
