[X] [React] Sec Improve Annual Festival

I have a lot of misgivings about this, but last time a Genius was ignored very bad things happened.

Festival is something I've been hoping we'd have room to do for a long while, so that at least I can get behind completely.

A king who rides home without his army is no longer a king, and kings are only not kings when dead.
Better to die with arrows in your front than with knives in your back.

On a clear spring morning, a message is created, ringing loud and clear across steppe and amber plain.

"Crow be praised! We just killed the nomad King! Hurrah for the War Chief!"

The message finds root in gossip and rumour, first amongst camp-dwellers and civilians.

Ymaryn Camp Follower: "...the sky was filled with missiles, sir! So many at one time that we couldn't see the sun! And when we came to bury the dead, the battlefield..."

It follows a trail west, into the rich cities of the Core.

Valleyhome Guildmaster: "...was just littered with our King's Iron, according to my sources. Tools, fastings, crossbow bolts... Most if not all having been produced by this Guild, or subsidiaries. I can't help but thinking, 'and we made this?!' Not only that, but I believe that..."

It heads east and south, to be scrutinized by those with watchful eyes and minds.

Highlander Agent: "...the Ymaryn are currently mobilizing their forces again after that rousing victory, and once they vanquish the nomad threat may soon have the force to muster arms against our sacred cause. The results of which could be catastrophic..."

It travels across a sea, into a fierce and independent land...

Freehill Clansman: "...because if Ymaryn is capable of this, they are more than capable of destroying if they should see fit. Watch closely the forests, dear free brothers, for while it might bear great bounty it is also the home of a sleeping dragon..."

And through a strait and into the windswept dunes of a faraway foreign polity.

Khemetri Priest: "...and I have seen it with my own eyes, this sleeping beast that is the Forest People. Once, they rained fire from the skies. Mayhaps those days be over, but it seems they have replaced this holy mandate with cold steel and the masses of bodies clad in metal..."

Over many months, underneath many roofs, with many different audiences and processions, the news of the defeat and destruction of the Forhuch is spread far and wide. And, like a single entity, the entire world at once came to a single agreement:

"Hey guys, let's NOT fuck with those crazy forest freaks for a while, yeah? Sounds like it would be a bad idea..."

Hmm, as long as we have a genius martial/excellent admin/diplo.

@Academia Nut What does Alyxunmyn think a Raise Army/Retrain action will do as either two secondaries or two mains?

Does he think Retrain can be taken with anything else for other interesting effects, and if so, what actions and what effects?

And "The King Still Stands" once again showed itself not very useful, as we have ended the war before the full turn. I am still unsatisfied with the choice we made back there - though maybe it'll evolve with our victory here.

Yenya was a very intuitive, "go up in your face and beat the shit out of you" kind of genius, while Axy is a super methodical, tactical kind of genius.

I imagine it would be Acu trying to bait Yenya into falling for his traps, while she can intuit that they are traps and avoid them, with this going on and on until one of them slips and the other quickly capitalizes on it and kills them.

I think Yenyna could kill him if it was a one-on-one, both of them in full battle regalia situation, because Yenyna was a terrifying bird monster from hell in close quarters and we haven't seen anything comparable on his end, but it seems likely he could outmaneuver and entrap her on an operational level and thereby counter her superiority in tactics and personal combat.

If we take the Horse Mountains the Ymaryn Empire will be huge for its day (even if it is technically mostly vassals). It would stretch from the mouth of the Danube to the highlands of Iran. Also we will control one end of the Salt Road.
Since we are going to take the Horse Mountains, we better invest in the freaking Lowlands. None of this Mediterranean nonsense; focus on what we do best (i.e. farming, building tall population centers, etc.)

@Killer_Whale also pointed out that Sec Improve Annual Festival will actually complete the yeomen quest:

Yeomen (2)- Power: Adds faction power to secondary Martial Objective: Have 30 EE within 2 turns. Failure: -1 Stability [1/2]

So that's a thing. Saves us from having to Support Faction, and since they're being supported by the Patricians right now, there's a pretty good chance they'll generate a good strength 8 quest.

Yeah, I would've much preferred a sea based empire, but events always pushed us in the opposite direction (Phygrif, Meteor, and our current boy wonder always giving us expansion east while the west was one fiasco after another.) so that dream is dead. It's funny though that the dam we're building for better trade with these guys will end up actually used to help administer the area.

eh, it still useful

drag out war again us is the slippery slope of a snowy moutain

if you don't end it quick, we snow ball with +Martial every turn while you crack apart from the Stab hit every turn

i rather have it and don't need it then need it but don't have it

False, that is not what AN said, he said that certain PSN choices were disabled, not that it was disabled completely.
2. If you go Mass Levy, yeah, most PSN options will be disabled and thus you probably won't get any choices.
2a. Those are definitely disabled in specific. If you did a survey you might have the choice to build mines of strategic goods though.
I'm guessing this is a situation where we don't get any choices, since this is what AN was talking about.

What did you expect? We did not know what it would do. Besides, better we have it than someone else get a chance at it.

@Omegahugger I SUMMON THEE!

COME, SEE US IN OUR TIME OF GLORY!

HAIL ALYXUNMYN, DEMON KING AND DRAGON GENERAL!
Oi, he ain't a Demon King yet, boy. Don't count your dragons before they hatch.

But yeah, this is definitely one for the Throne of Heroes. For his NP, I'm thinking some kind of Anti-Army Bounded Field that when triggered goes pincushion on whoever's inside.

That's pretty much my read as well.

With a very real chance that it would still come down to a one-on-one fistfight due to Yenyna smashing Alyxunmyn's army herself.

Then again, I am a Yenyna fanboy...

By the way guys, the Legacy "Kings Do Not Kneel" has just changed. Instead of +1 Martial every turn it's now "+1 every phase". Furthermore it now has a (Three) next to it. I think it was tiered.

Edit: For people liking this post note that this is wrong. It's always been like that. The Three stood for how many people we took on at once.

Ummm... noooo.

It hasn't changed at all. That was exactly what it was when we got it:

Legacy Gained
Kings Do Not Kneel (Three): Gain +1 Martial every phase during a Take the Crown or Great Power war
From Epic Age VII.
