I honestly don't mind this guy as King. Excellent admin, Diplo, and Genius Martial. He is probably one of the best we have had since our admin genius.

Yes, there's a risk that our Genius will roll utter bullshit again and accidentally starve us.

Leaving our stability negative with the levy overmartial penalty waiting in the wings is also a risk, and I'm pretty sure a more serious one.

Besides, we just intentionally the people who've been terrorizing Ymar for years because of daddy issues. A celebration is called for!

The dance of dragons? I imagine it would be the worlds greatest chess match.
Yenya was a very intuitive, "go up in your face and beat the shit out of you" kind of genius, while Axy is a super methodical, tactical kind of genius.

I imagine it would be Acu trying to bait Yenya into falling for his traps, while she can intuit that they are traps and avoid them, with this going on and on until one of them slips and the other quickly capitalizes on it and kills them.

Personally this guy reads to me like a combination of Rulwyna/Myranyn, Yenyna, and Yshuyn. Or at least, it would take those three put together make a good approximation.

Overflow happens end-of-turn. Unless we get 10 Econ costs here (again, somehow, despite this first 10 being the result of multiple crits) we will be fine. Or at least we will be better of than we would be with mills.

EDIT: Well, 9 if we chose Festivals instead of RoO.
The thing is, we still have multiple phases to go still. We have not even hit the midturn yet considering we have not gotten the PSN choice yet.

So, I really do not think we can expect overflow to save the situation.

Even then, we do not know if it is a one to one conversion.

Where to send the levies?

The Genius makes a compelling case for our strategy, and I'd vote to head into the mountains anyway If I thought we had a good chance of winning, with certainty of victory we should take the site and put a March there soon.

Second React Action
[X] [React] Sec Improve Annual Festival
[] [React] Sec Restore Order
[] [React] Sec Build Mills
[X] [React] Sec Palace Annex - Grand Hall
[] [React] Sec Support Sacred Orders
[] [React] Sec Blackmouth Ironworks (tech cost accounted for by Guild Push)

This I'm less sure about, a government upgrade would be useful(if getting it only requires one more grand hall), but more econ might let the levies stay active just a little longer.
Edit: You know what, I've read the arguments against Mills, I'll go along with a festival.

So...Hannibal vs Alexander?

@Academia Nut - is the 10 Econ -> Martial conversion normal, or was it only this high due to how exceptional this turn was? And is this conversion a turn, or each phase?

Basically, I'm trying to figure out if we should expect to lose another 10 Econ to levies right now, or if we are good (for the moment). Could you clarify?

This amount was very unusual.

You know, I have to wonder what was going through his mind when he refused surrender.

@Academia Nut
Did their social values push to a Fucked Anyway conclusion or did he just think he could break out with horsepower?

A king who rides home without his army is no longer a king, and kings are only not kings when dead.

Somewhat amusingly enough, Alyxunmyn found that the majority of his attention was focused upon ensuring that the caravans of food and equipment kept moving forward across the lowlands to keep the literal cities worth of levied troops fed. The main tricky thing was ensuring that the Forhuch weren't able to slip past them and hit the somewhat geographically restricted routes that the caravans could traverse, but by keeping his levies in blocks of the ideal size to minimize disease spread while maximizing their ability to make raiding parties rethink where they wanted to attack, he was able to push forward. Getting the Forhuch to directly engage was difficult, but over many seasons he forced the dance between them back and out of Thunder Horse territory. A lesser commander than Fotharmin would have fallen into frustration long ago, while a lesser commander than Alyxunmyn would have either made him quit this field and engage somewhere else, drawing the war further out as the People chased dust clouds and shadows.

So, reading over the update a little more carefully, it seems like Alyxunmyn has basically hit upon the concept of "grand tactics", or the operational level of war. Moreover, he's also realized that you can ease the logistical strain on extremely large armies by subdividing them into divisions or corps, and marching along parallel lines of advance. This is kinda huge, because both of these are military innovations that let us more effectively use our ludicrously large army, without suffering the kind of problems that a 100,000-man doomstack would face. I'm not entirely sure whether these ideas were present at all during the Real Life Classical Period, but, as I understand it, in the modern era they only really started appearing during the Napoleonic Wars, as the various European Great Powers began being able to deploy men in the hundreds of thousands.

Also, it's the first step on the road to glorious D E E P B A T T L E.

Imagine Alyxunmyn leading an army organized and supplied by Yshuyn, with Yenyna as commander of the army's cavalry arm.

The martial conversion? It is, we were at 19 Econ and 9 Martial last update and now we are at 9 Econ and 19 Martial. And AN explicitly said 10 econ was moved to martial.

AN has also likely removed the PSN choice since we are on Mass Levy and most of what it could do would be not viable. And it makes sense since so many people are gone.

We... do not know if it is a one to one conversion? Huh?
Are you referring to overflow? Because that has always been a 1-1 conversion.

As far as midturn goes, I believe we HAVE hit midturn, given that we've taken both of our midturn reaction secondaries.

We need negaverse Omake for this. we absolutely need it.

We expected to get fucked and maybe lose one of our MC at least until the levies arrive, but even then, it will be a bloody battle.

Even our genius general believed that we will get reckted.
