omfg I just realized we haven't described EM nukes to Akane yet she must be so disappointed that we haven't given her a WMD for her birthday
Unfortunately we don't know about EM nukes IC so we couldn't tell her if we wanted to.

Er, scratch that, we could have Hazou make up the idea of an EM nuke with no true substantiation to it, but he'd know it was a bald-faced lie up until she got to EM 40 and broke the atmosphere. Which might poke at the fourth wall because we gave Hazou the suspiciously specific inspiration and This Is Not A Coincidence Because Nothing Is Ever A Coincidence so Kagome would splat us.

Hazou is more in tune with us than you would think, you just have to look underneath the underneath:
Mari shook her head ruefully. "In my defense, I was talking about combat applications at the time. This is an economic application."

"Actually...I had a thought about that," Hazō began. "If you cool things enough—

After much discussion on discord (the second or third iteration of the topic, I believe), I've added what might be a controversial subsection to the Plan Cache, underlined below.
Plan Cache:
  • Teaching KEI members:
    • (Overarching goal: Look for overlooked (due to personality traits, the Academy's biases, etc.) promising students to adopt/apprentice.)
    • Coordinate with Kagome on teaching Sealing Theory. Don't teach practical sealing unless Kagome approves.
    • Suggest teaching Medicine to Noburi.
    • Is Naruto a technique hacker? Would he be willing to teach too?
    • Apply for guest lectures at the Academy.
  • Figure out the Adopting Naruto question.
  • Talk to Lee about adoption and the Turtle Scroll.
  • Make a plan to contact Akatsuki.
    • If they're open to cooperation of any kind, for Leaf's safety we need to reach out. If they're not, any intel we can get on them is still extremely important.
    • Route the idea through Mari to pass on to Asuma.
    • Send a message to Itachi and/or Kisame through the Seventh Path, with the intent of arranging communication of some kind.
  • Convene Goketsu Gaming Mondays. Invite Naruto and KEI specifically.
  • Scale up Salterns.
  • Clear the land we bought.
  • Find, rebuild, and re-key Jiraiya's contacts/network.
    1. Use guerilla civil engineering as cover.

Past Major Plans:
An Abomination of A Plan by faflec

Rules of the Plan Cache:
  1. Get Support. The Plan Cache is for ideas that already have support of a sizeable chunk of the playerbase, not for ideas that someone wants to advocate later. For a benchmark, your idea should have enough support to be in one of the major plans of a cycle if there was room in the plan.
  2. Short-term. The Plan Cache is for ideas that we intend to implement in the next few updates, or more loosely within the same rough story arc. If you have an idea beyond that temporal scope, I have another post storing those ideas so ask me to put it there instead of cluttering up our short-term storage.
Sometimes when we're making a plan we have a good idea that's just outside the temporal scope of the update, but we don't want to cut it from the plan because we might forget by the next cycle. This adds unnecessary words that could have been spent fleshing out the rest of the plan, and may outright cost XP in the worst cases.

This plan cache will hold these subsections so they don't fall into the void between planning cycles. Just ping me with the subsection and, unless it's wildly unreasonable, I'll edit it into the post. I'll keep them there for a while until they either make it into a winning plan, fall out of favour, or the context significantly changes. Depending on circumstances, they might end up in my Side Project Cache, or they might be dropped, and I'll make sure to be transparent about what I'm doing.

I'll do my best to quote this post after every update, so that planmakers can get an easy reminder about what we never quite got to last cycle.
I personally think that this is something we can set into motion right here and now in our time relaxing in Konoha between things like basement arcs and long-term missions, and after the discord conversation I also think it clears the standard of support.

Basically, we know next to nothing about what happened to Akatsuki after the Battle of the Gods except that they haven't made waves that we know of. There are myriad possibilities for what happened and what they're like now and many of them have extreme implications on the geopolitical situation. Odds are once the idea is passed to Asuma any execution will be overseen by the leadership of Konoha so we'd merely be the spark that sets things into motion, but in the most optimistic cases the end result of this move might just be Akatsuki and Leaf cooperating to create world peace one way or another, and with the nigh-zero risk to just reaching out I find it a highly valuable play to make. The idea, of course, is a touchy one so we tell Mari first and if she thinks it's got solid grounding then we can trust that she can present it to Asuma in a way that doesn't reflect badly on us even if he doesn't agree that it's worth it.

As for seals and jutsu, going to the players for help is not ideal and still requires QM labor for confirmation.
Apparently the QMs back in June have already asked for player ideas about what seals Jiraiya gave us. Considering the list is finalized I have changed my mind and agree we shouldn't ask for more lists. I do think we should continue providing seal ideas so the Jiraiya list can be completed. Considering people are interested in sealing inventions, learning a list of existing seals will be much easier and less dangerous than modifying existing seals.

So, 5 scenes total by my math. Like I said, fewer than I expected at first but more than the 2-3 eaglejarl asked for.
I still think it's fewer but I don't think we have any fundamental disagreements of how scenes work now that you've went from it being a mammoth to 5.

Have we ever had a problem with not voting enough scenes into a plan?
No, but we have had a problem of not doing numerous small tasks which is important. Hopefully the experimental background section will mitigate that.

edit: I still think we should get a list of the basement loot considering Noburi nearly died

In general, good practice to count scenes pessimistically and flesh out tactics for smaller scenes instead. Have we ever had a problem with not voting enough scenes into a plan?

Is there any long term thing we want to discuss before the update to improve plans? Which seals to research in what order? Something else?

That's why we confirm it with EJ, because everyone's opinion on how many scenes will be apparently differ.

I'm fairly certain this is around the thirtieth time someones gone "We should contact those ultra powerful folks who were buddies with the guy with the god bloodline and seem to hate the current status quo." for some reason or another.

Apropos of nothing, there are two things I'd like to draw attention to from the most recent chapter:
Hazō blinked and then did what any good missing-nin or sealmaster did when completely out of his death: Keep going and pretend you're totally in control.
See this here? That's Hazou being put on the back foot in a social situation and keeping his cool, and 'how to act when on the back foot' has been one of Hazou's weak points so this isn't small potatoes. I doubt he'd be able to stay this cool against someone trying to keep him off-balance, but this is still significant progress.
XP AWARD: 81 (includes brevity bonus)

This update covered 20 days.
So back during the Chuunin Exams and the Election arc and all that jazz I kept saying that things would start speeding up afterwards, and now I can finally feel vindicated. Of course, these sorts of updates won't be every day, but I don't doubt we'll be seeing a lot more timeframes like this in the future.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled pre-update screaming.

I'm slightly worried that if we tell the Leaf chain of command, Hiashi will think it's a great idea, and then proceed to ask Akatsuki to help Leaf wipe the other villages off the map. Which I don't think Akatsuki would approve of. The pros and cons of going behind the village's back on this might be worth it if Mari thinks that Hiashi would see this as a good way to win a war instead of a way to keep the peace.

@eaglejarl "death" should probably be "depth".

Honestly, Hazou has been so socially successful lately, I almost forgot this was a problem. When was his last misstep, Chapter 266?

Ej has said we are the voices in Hazuos ear. I take that to mean our plans are the things we say *at him*. However, if we repeat ideas or phrases enough he eventually overhears them as well.
I always thought of it as Hazo hears the entire thread but most comments are just stray thought, consistent topics are ideas he's put a good amount of thought into, and plans are what he actually ends up putting into action.

I wouldn't count the blade rift since that's one we kinda forced on him knowing that was a possible response.

We should exploit personal connections to Lee/Tenten to avert this, probably by maneuvering it into Lee's hands, then adopting him.

MARI: I have to wonder why you are so interested in Lee...

HAZOU: 'ts not like that.

NOBURI: There are three constants in this world: Hazou waking me up in the middle of the night to discuss harem-related nightmares set in some far-off future, Hazou screwing up with girls, and Hazou arguing for us to adopt Lee.

AKANE: "Harem related nightmares"...?

HAZOU: Look, I can explain. Sometimes I have nightmares about some hypothetical future where adult me has to deal with way too much romantic bullshit for some reason or another and--

AKANE: ... Romantic "bullshit" ?

NOBURI: Observe, universal constant number two in action.

HAZOU: ...

MARI: *laughing so hard her ribs hurt*
