There is already a discussion on Kage surplus from uncollected Clan Benefits in the QM Econ pm, I haven't heard back on confirmation though. I'll note there is not much from Uchiha / Senju because the benefits are per ninja, not per Clan.

All our answers are going through QM review one way or another. So it doesn't matter if your discussion on Kage surplus isn't approved right now, unless you are forbidden from sharing your possible answer with us.

The fact that mobile forces me to go through pages one at a time is annoying.

Do we know what is subsistence income in Leaf? NVM, ninja are paid subsistence level.
One hectare of reasonably fertile land produces 10 Koku of rice per year being tended by 4.5 farmers (each farmer consumes 1 Koku per year @ subsistence level, for surplus of 5.5 Koku per hectare per annum). Historical GDP per capita was in the $500-600 (1990) range under such regimes.

Producitivity of 2.2 Koku / Farmer assuming agriculture comprises 87% of GDP @ $550 / annum =
(550*.87) / 2.2 = $217 (1990) per Koku or $424 (2019) per Koku or 4,240 Ryo per Koku.

Based on discord discussion, we think Kenta is a moderately successful businessman, thus his business should be around generating 30,000 ryo per year.

Any objection and feedback?

The business supported three people and was enough to allow them to buy books (with an implied corresponding lean period) for Akane while she was hospitalized. I'm not sure how to quantify all of that.

@faflec are there any references to the average prices of books?
