Oh, you just wanted general maps that show approximately the boundaries? Sure, those must exist. They may or may not be maps; compiled lists of boundaries markers would also work.

I thought you wanted actual surveyor's data.

I have a (copy of an) actual historical map of a Sengoku-era fief, and while I would undoubtably be killed if I were to post it online, I can tell you it looks to be accurate to the nearest Tan. (1/10th Cho, about a half-acre.)

(Note: the map is roughly circa 1600, so I don't know how representative it is of 1100s stuff. Wikipedia says there wasn't a huge change until the 1800s, but 500 years is a long time.)

So a conversation came up earlier this week on breaking Genjutsu, and I noticed that for the high-level Genjutsu (the Mind Control type) the victim has to spend chakra equal to the chakra cost of the Genjutsu itself to break free. And it got me wondering: what if Noburi cast the Genjutsu? He's got a lot of chakra, and the triple cost effect. If he cast a MC Genjutsu, even if it were at level 1, wouldn't it be an absurd way for him to shut down really powerful opponents, since they'd be pretty much out of chakra after breaking free?

Add it to the list of "Things Noburi needs to check if he can do..." ?

Though, I'm not sure the heavy-duty mind control ones are possible without Sharigan Hax. Do we know of non-bloodline ones?

Mari. I think she's shown like 3 full-shutdown Genjutsu.

Edit: Maybe 2, not sure how TLitF would register.

HAZOU: Noburi! Good news! You're respeccing as a genjutsu master!
NOBURI: What-- Hazou no!
HAZOU: (eyes glowing with the SV "like" sigil) HAZOU YES.

Respec? Noononono, that's the best part. He doesn't need to spend more than one or two XP on the Genjutsu, since the cost is incurred when the victim tries to break out!

Is it respeccing? He'd just need a shitty one or two to practice (who knows tho) and an actually good one to actually invest a decent portion of XP into.

Though, uh. Does it matter? WDB is fucking nuts, just level that bad boy up to like 50 and watch the noobs get mowed down like wheat in a forcewall farm.

We don't know the details of how you learn genjutsu. It might be that the Dream Mind Control type genjutsu are gated behind level 40 or something.

As much as I wish we could do the unification the other way and have all ninjutsu be under their Element skill, yes :p
Yes, so the strategy as I have suggested should be valid (I.e., have Noburi get Rank 1 MC Genjutsu and shut down higher-ranking ninja by fucking their CR and allowing his teammates to win with their full chakra).

@eaglejarl @Velorien Are there any patches being considered for this?

Does MC Genjutsu just allow you to sink X chakra into the effect regardless of the level? That seems crazy, just have Naruto learn one and he can obliterate an entire army.

I was thinking more that we just find or TH one with an absurd base chakra cost. Ask Mari, she knows how to do that.

This brings another OP wombo combo to my mind.

Can we just have Naruto pick up a decent genjutsu? Have N clones spam it on N enemies while another N clones go in to wreck them with a Rasengan boosted Righteous Face Punch

Clever thinking, but wouldn't it only work for messages between people who remember shifts like Kagome does? Otherwise the recipient wouldn't be able to remember the key/remember the cyphertext long enough to decrypt it.
Better option is to write the message containing the grue but include a secret tell (a mark, placement or something else) that lets the intended recipient know they are to skip over that part without decoding it. Other villages won't know the tell, will decode the grue and get stuck in a loop before they can decode the rest of the message.

Request for Proposals: New Seals
RFP: New Seals
Jiraiya left you notes on a bunch of new seals - on the order of several dozen.

We would like to crowdsource the creation of these things. Specifically, we would like to ask for ideas that have as many of the following as possible:
  • A name that makes it easy to refer to the seal (describes what it does, not easy to confuse with other existing seals, etc)
  • A one-sentence description of the effects, optionally followed by more details.
  • Suggested mechanics
  • An assessment of how the seal might be abused in-universe and why that hasn't already been done.
A couple things we want to note explicitly:
  • Some of these seals were created in Jiraiya's early days and will have research TNs that you might be able to hit. Those seals will have relatively minor effects. Others will be ones that he made up more recently, and are insanely difficult but also more powerful.
  • Not all of Jiraiya's seals were unique to him. We might take any or all of your suggestions and put them in the hands of other people, potentially including your enemies.

Larger storage seals!!!

So, you're trying to DDoS Discord server, right?

Potential seals:
Wallbreaker Seal
Take a large, overcharged macerator storage seal, and link it with an explosive tag.

When it impacts a surface, it does the following:
1: Stores as much of the material as possible for the moments it takes to grind it.
2: Unstores the cloud of splinters/pebbles/whatever.
3: Explodes, throwing the broken things everywhere as shrapnel.

It's basically a grenade that also tears a big chunk out of whatever it hits.

Eight Trigrams Sealing Style
Jiraiya would undoubtably have either known about or been researching the seal on Naruto. We probably don't have his notes on it, but we should be aware that he knew about it.

Seal of Darkness
Based on the anti-hyuuga seal, or the other way around. Prevents light from entering or exiting the contained area. One of Jiraiya's basic privacy seals.

Liquifier Seal

Like a goo bomb, but it doesn't create goo; it turns things into goo. Useful for disposing of evidence.
