There's no reason for her to take Taijutsu ever. That's XP she can spend things she will ever realistically use, or on making her primary skill S-rank.

We don't know that. "At worst" could be she says yes, and Hazou gets caught using it in front of a Kurosawa, and now Leaf and Mist are at war over theft of clan secrets. We don't have the IC contextual knowledge to predict the consequences.

Yeah. But Ninjutsu and Taijutsu do not overlap completely in their niches the way MW and Taijutsu do.

You could be right, in which case we can still learn lots of useful non-taijutsu stuff from her. Bloodline tricks, alertness, maybe some ninjutsu if she knows any useful earth element stuff, basic diplomacy/social skills Hazō desperately needs that she is apparently a renowned master of, and we can take advantage of any insights she can offer on how to cleverly use what we already know to help us succeed in the tournament and real fights down the road.

If we're such pussycats, we can always ask Jiraiya and Mari about this. They have far greater context than we do.
"Sir, it'd be alright if I happened to spontaneously figure out bloodline tricks around the same time as I happened to be spending a lot of time around my mother, right?"

"You're learning, kid."

It's also possible that even asking her at all -- no matter what she says -- puts her in a horrible position because of complicated political reasons that we aren't aware of. Maybe Mist jonin are required to kill anyone who asks for their secrets on the spot, and have to regularly check in for soft-style interrogation by the secret police to make sure they're complying with all the laws in a way that Hana wouldn't be able to bluff her way through reliably? I could see Yagura doing that.

Yagura is dead. Well, we hope to never deal with Yagura ever again.

Clans wouldn't stand for that; it's not a far shot from "check in for soft style interrogation over whether you've been asked for your secrets" to "why yes it's okay if you tell us your secrets".

I agree that we should train with Hana. I also agree that learning clan techniques is out. I don't think Hazou would even risk putting that pressure on her.

While she may not be able to teach us our clan jutsu, she can definitely help us with regular skills or pointers on how to expand on what we already have.

Didn't Ami claim to be from a faction that would back Ren over Yagura if it came down to it?
We don't need to rely on anything so shallow as claims. We've had perspective chapters from her and she cares greatly for Keiko to the point of pushing her away. for her own good, and as the Pangolin summoner, Keiko would be on the front lines during a war with Mist.

Well, then. I don't think we could've prevented this, or even affected it to any noticeable extent. I second the sentiment that Hazou should do his best to convince Hana that she hasn't lost her son. Closing that wound should at least take the edge off her hatred for Mari. At some point, Hazou should make it clear that he has forgiven the latter for all she's done, but it's way too early for that conversation.

Not sure how we can help Mari. Part of me feels like this is something she needs to prove to herself, somehow, that she's not the person she used to be anymore. Don't know what the avenue would be, though. I doubt another pep-talk from Hazou would help.

On the plus side, mom's a fucking badass.

*hairs raise on end*

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH KIBA!?

Lupchanz.

Possible Ami style challenge
Talk with Mom with only Kurosawa forms/postures.

Who knows it may actually help teach Hazou to avoid his foot when he opens his mouth at the wrong time.

HAZOU: (starts instinctively Kurosawa-ing at people instead of talking)

HAZOU: (forgets how to talk)

HAZOU: (in body language: ) THIS WAS A MISTAKE!

TENTEN: Sucks, huh?
