• Hazou goes and passively IDs the gathered ninja and civilians and gets a bunch of civilians and ninja positively ID'd. Basically, just use this whole thing as an information gathering experiment, and do our best to keep the exam going, just with us knowing every civilian.
  • Hazou sets off a tipserator attempting to get a bunch of genin drunk.
  • Hazou eliminates the majority of the ninja (just use a fire-log macerator)

One of these is not like the others...

I strongly prefer option 4, which is TO BE A SUICIDE BOMBER BWAHAHAHAHAH

But seriously, I'd rather have option 2 here, with some sort of way to limit potential violence.

So, really, does anyone have thoughts on the following scene (40 words in length):
  • Hazou requests STL share the identites of the high value teams he identified to them (as well as Team Downfall)
    • STL can share these identities with the cliques that have formed in order to drive their primary opponents' scores down.

All right. Well I'm not getting off work for another 2 hours but I'm going to stay up and write an ambitious plan after. If anyone had suggestions please ping me

Add "Hazou intends to tipserator as many of them as possible, request their location among the crowd" or something like that.

Do you really want Akane mad at us? We didn't know about what she said at the time we made the plans before, and when Noburi was preparing the tipserator, but we do now.

I have an annoying henge question. Can a henged ninja even get drunk? Alcohol makes you drunk by affecting your brain, but a henged ninja's brain isn't there. Its off in chakra space. And if their brains are actually present, whats going on when the henge into an object that can't fit their brain?

I suppose the henge brain could act as a sort of bridging mechanism between the disembodied normal brain and the henge body, and changes to the henge brain could interfere with that connection... but that shouldn't impair judgment unless the connection goes both ways... In which case, could a henge brain theoretically take over the regular brain if it drifted too far? Is that why you aren't supposed to stay henged for more than three hours? Could a trained ninja make it so that any copy of their brain will swiftly take over any regular brain it is bridging for?

Answers for minimum headache:

Yes, they can get drunk. As for what is going on with henge brain to regular brain interact-AAHGHH! GRUE ATTACK! *messy eating noises*

Suggestions:

  1. Maximize plausible deniability -- use techniques that nobody has associated with us outside of Leaf, and expend significant effort keeping ourselves hidden. Possibilities include:
    1. Use hiding like a mole to approach a target, then fire off a payload (e.g. firelog macerator + explosive seal to destroy the evidence) and retreat
    2. Set up traps which will self-destruct
      1. Use Lesser Barrier Formation to set up tripwires, then have those go to whatever, but keep explosive seals set to destroy the evidence.
    3. Use 5 second delayed explosive seals to destroy other seals for a 5 second seal exposure
  2. Target impact -- attempt to make the most relevant teams be impacted
    1. Gather information from Hinata and/or team Super leaf on where the top genin are gathered (if known)
      1. Likely involved decieving Team Super Leaf as to our intensions and relying on village loyalty to keep them in line afterwards
    2. Set off traps/attacks/disturbance as close to either the top teams, or the most number of teams as possible
  3. Keep other actors in mind -- any ambitious plan which significantly impacts other ninja should be prepared for their actions
    1. Likely, best managed by escalating harder and going instanty lethal

In general, such a plan likely looks something like identifying roughly where the top teams are, then using Hiding Like a Mole to get near them, and drop a pair of Fire Log Macerators from underground incinerating them and all the ninja next to them. Alternatively would be to use a targetted Tipserator on just the high-power teams in the hopes they do things more distant from us (problem being Misterators are a significant part of our toolset while Fire-log macerators are not). Alternative stray ideas include:

  • Destroying the Mansion (we have plenty of explosive seals to do so if we want)
  • Using Banshee Seals or for large technically non-lethal AOEs which force DQs on pretty much everyone
  • Use Banshee seals far away from everyone to incite a panic
  • Set up a trap for when people return to the mansion using LBF
  • Come up with a clever way of using the information gained by whatever shenanigans happen here for specific gain
  • Use this opportunity to publicly dispense the identities of every ninja we know, effectively ruining the quality of the event while technically staying within the rules
  • Target the proctors and see what madness ensues

@eaglejarl Grue plz :p

Keiko. And technically our knowledge of that is real OOC and not retcon'd OOC.
Doesn't really matter to me either way whether it was Keiko or Hazou, or OOC or not. It's bad form to go back on our allies' word just as well as our own.
e:
I like this one. Are Banshees enough to break hange or do we need earbusters?
Banshees can scale up to 150 db. We can use whatever volume is necessarily-shocking-enough without breaking eardrums or causing permanent damage.

  1. This leads to the predictable outcome of drunk people who have violent tendencies, are suspicious, have advance military training, and have significant prejudices. People fight and die (unless proctors intervene). Significant political capital is expended within Team Super Leaf to keep Hazou's part a secret.

If this is the predictable outcome, why did Shikamaru sign off on this? This isn't the case where he didn't understand the line of sight. I mean, people dying risks Leaf getting outright booted out of the exam entirely.

I find attempting to distinguish between the promise being Keiko's or our own to be disingenuous, to say the least.

So far as OOC-ness goes, historically we've blithely assumed that most everything any team member knows is nigh-instantaneously disseminated to all other team members, so so far as I'm concerned an "FYI I promised Akane X in order to get her to agree" memo from Keiko is assumed until something points us otherwise.

[X] Meta: FEED HENGE TO A DAMNED GRUE ALREADY

I think we could just ask Shikamaru for free info. He knows that how well J's kids do

A) Impacts the international negotiations

And B) Impacts whether J keeps the hat (and therefore whether Shikaku continues to be the power behind Leaf's throne)

It is seriously in Shikamaru's interests for us to do well.

My memory is that Banshees are sufficient for breaking henge, since they do a shift of damage by breaking eardrums, and that our heavier variants will be lethal to those immediately nearby. Obviously, either will run afowl of the rules if caught
The collateral damage rules from the bodyguard event are in effect—harming people, property, or civilians carries penalties both monetary and point-based.
And banshee seals are relatively distinctive, so care must be taken to keep ourselves from being tied to them, and the political fallout of Team Super Leaf from us doing this must be accounted for. Specifically, the rules are
the penalty for injuring a proctor or anyone who is not part of the event even so much as a bruise is minus fifty to minus one thousand points depending on the severity of the injury you will also be responsible for the victim's medical fees plus ten thousand ryō those monies
Which, if we're attacking ~100 civilians and proctors, will be at least one hundred thousand ryo, likely closer to 1 million ryo, should we be caught (I believe this is more money than we actually have).

Henge is actually a derivative of morphing technology. The original body, along with all equipment, is stored in Z-Space. Chakra-based yeerk tissue is used to control the henge construct. The relative fragility of the technique was necessary in order to avert the strict time limits of the original technology, which instead of collapsing the Z-Space pocket now slowly reduce the integrity of the stored body (thereby causing henge sickness). The Watchers are the agents of the Ellimist and/or Crayak. Lupchanzen are, of course, yeerk-derived. It all adds up!

E: in all seriousness, the two do strike me as having very similar challenges to simulationism. Of course, morphing technology is a lot less common, so it's less likely that anyone would figure out all the finicky details, and henge has some extra challenges that morph tech doesn't (being made of chakra, being able to henge inanimate objects).

How do people feel using black paper seals?
My understanding was that we don't have black paper available, so I think a plan which uses black paper seals will be unsuccessful because we don't have the materials to make it happen. Also, if we did have the seals, it'd take us at least five minutes to scribe each seal, and my understanding is that we have a very limited amount of time before the crowd disperses.

If this is the predictable outcome, why did Shikamaru sign off on this? This isn't the case where he didn't understand the line of sight. I mean, people dying risks Leaf getting outright booted out of the exam entirely.
I think that "a character didn't say no to this plan" is not sufficient evidence to reject the likelihood of violent attacks from drunk ninja in closed quarters, and that the lines between "drunk enough to mess up henge" and "drunk enough to start a fight" are far too thin to reliably count on, especially with how varied individual responses to alcohol are, and how untested this particular attack vector is.

Oh, sorry. I apologize if I gave the impression I was trying to hide the fact that I am a heartless bastard willing to exploit technicalities and trample over the feelings of our allies when said allies are naive, misguided, and actively standing in the way of more important goals.

Which, if we're attacking ~100 civilians and proctors, will be at least one hundred thousand ryo, should we be caught (I believe this is more money than we actually have).

Yeah, I didn't consider, but that would undoubtably be seen as a direct assault and much harder to control fallout.
