The event getting cancelled is the best result possible.
We just need to shut up shikamaru preemptively

Either (1) we stay on top because event is cancelled, or (2) we stay at or around top with a bigger lead because of the DQs, and clear out the playing field.

Shikamaru is unlikely too complain too much if event gets cancelled, they're also high up in the stats, and assuming we do this nonviolently we're not risking village getting kicked.

I am really concerned about some smartass starting something violent though. We can't be the only people with poor risk estimation.

Isn't event getting cancelled really good for us? We're leading the scoreboards.
I believe people are just assuming we're going to get approximately -∞ because of the earlier KO. I doubt it, but I wouldn't entirely put it past the QMs.

Nah, maxing our score, getting credit with SuperTeam leaf by cooperating with them, and not messing up Jiraiya's schedule, through a simple door-slam tactic is far more likely to go well for us.

We don't need to win, we just need to make Leaf win, and get internal cred. Getting docked points over a single event in a field we don't specialize in isn't ammo against us politically, and if anything our many examples of being unfairly treated work in our favour.

If everyone gets DQd en masse wouldn't the Event just be cancelled again? That's the main reason I'm not considering how to get them to leave without inciting panic/violence.
Isn't the event being cancelled the perfect outcome for us? The problem before was with people getting hurt/killed, which had serious political ramifications both internal and external.

We can't get negative points for a cancelled event! Also all DQed people can't name us as ninja, so we save those negative points too if they can't take the ballot. What other source of negative points is there?

Hm, now that I think of it, since

Hazou and Shikamaru have very strong political motivation to not screw each other over, and even disregarding that, they both know that Shikamaru knows that Jiraiya's regime (and the Nara's power-behind-the-throne position within it) may be adversely affected by the Gouketsu not suceeding in the exams. Meaning that Shikamaru is motivated to help us, rather than plot against us.

I don't suppose Shikamaru would be willing to just share his information with us?

(Also I like Akane's role in this story. Our recent habit of pissing her off is far less enjoyable to read.)

plus we need her for citybusters

I mean I think people assume we're going to get -∞ conditional on the event not being cancelled.
Sooo you were agreeing with me? Maybe I misunderstood your intent behind your reply.

Also getting correctly identified by all ninja is only like -200 points, I think? We get identified by ~150 contestants for -300 pts, we name 250 ninjas for net 150 * 2 - 100 * 2 = 100 points. Which is significant but not -∞.

Maybe not -30k bad, but we're definitely losing at present. If we don't table flip, we need something pretty good to actually win. A trick to sort ninja from civilians would be useful, but this nets us at most 100 points (not guessing as ninja the 50 civs) over baseline.

I doubt many people are far above +100 points though. That implies a lot of secret role/ village background knowledge.

Thoooough given that Akane (!) knows the exact identity of some random guy, maybe not that unlikely??

We can just break up with her and be done with this drama. There are plenty better opportunities for us.

we can go back to VHitM, learn it ourselves, then use them as practice

Re: getting everyone DQed: Request Ino mindwalk one of the proctors and get them to say the event's been cancelled, orders from the top?

@Velorien ,@eaglejarl ,@OliWhail , you guys are amazing GM's. Not sure if insane, masochistic or both though. Thanks for everything anyway.
Thanks. A bit of both, most likely. Certainly not thrilled about having to do this retcon, but there was no other valid option.

I actually want clarification on this @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Did Shikamaru actually know we planned on getting people drunk via tipserator before we left to do just that?
You have not left yet. What you told him was that you were going to spray them with an alcoholic mist.

First of all, props to you guys @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail for sticking to your principles after all the debating and scrutiny we subjected you to.
Thank you.

EDIT: Spice all the food (With subtlety, using kitchen spices not pangolin peppers. We want surprised ninja, not puking guests)
Note that the food is inside and everyone is currently outside.

I don't think this makes sense, given the Chūnin exams have gone on for a while without incident. If ninja really were that volatile, you wouldn't have one of the exam stages involve them all in a house at the same time.

This is not in any way comparable to a vision-impairing mist while drunk with an explosive tag going off overhead.

(Either way, such uncertainty is solvable by just asking teammates and whoever we cooperate with for opinions.)
If you ask, the others will tell you that they would be surprised if people started randomly punching when they can see that there's no serious danger. The exception to this is if they're drunk or their judgement is otherwise impaired. In that case, all bets are off.

The difference between THIS situation and the PREVIOUS one is that the ninjas were far more spread out than here. Right now there are like 200 people in a small area which makes things far more likely EVERYONE is going to bump into EVERYONE.
You can't actually see it right now, but to save time I'll just tell you that the crowd density is about the same.

Hmm... I was pretty confident I did a physics post on Fire-log macerators back before we got to Leaf (probably around Spring of 2017), and I wanted to check it, because... uh... reasons. Anyone (@faflec ) remember where it might be, or if someone else did the math? My normal indexing doesn't seem to cover it (starting stuff with "Radvic's Analysis of <x>" and making a post with > 500 words).
