@Roomba I kind of figure keeping everyone together would work fine: When fighting a single team, we can have Team Gai take one, Team Akane take another, and Team Uplift take the third, with Team Asuma for backup (particularly for the middle team), since they have good support techniques.
May I ask if this reduces the number of teams we're predicted to need to fight? Before it was 4-8, or something...?Drat. I wrote it as 33 originally, then realized that there were four teams and ninja teams are four people and therefore there were sixteen people here and therefore I had made a mistake and it was twenty-five instead of thirty-three and wasn't I clever for catching that before it went to press?
Of course, ninja teams are four people counting the sensei, who of course is not here right now. I even wrote the list of names out accurately but did not manage to count to twelve correctly.
Thanks for spotting this; it's fixed.
Damn. Probably going to say no summons unless we want Panashe or change location. Ugh.Quick reminder: Panjandrum is something like twenty feet tall standing up and nearly as tall lying down. He's not going to be good at hiding.
Good point, I'll add it in. We don't a particular plan for the Kozu (?) clan beyond "Neji sees a detached body part, he IC equates that to the Kozu because he has intel on major Mist clans".Perhaps include what to do if the other teams disagree with Hazo being the leader. Perhaps we could acquiesce and let Nara be the leader in that case and just advise him of the plan that Hazo thought up. Also, do we have a plan for stealth to deal with the Mist guys who have the detachable body part bloodline (IIRC)?
Great suggestions, I will certainly change this. Unless anyone has objections? To ensure a relatively smooth transition, I can suggest two things: first, make sure Hazou doesn't appear to accept the position too easily. If he jumps right at it at Shikamaru's request, we look like offering the position to Shikamaru in the first place was just us un-subtly signalling humility to artificially gain respect, which undermines the actual humility involved. The second thing is that the plan as stated uses something along the lines of 'assuming the other teams agree'. At worst, this comes off as dismissive of the (potentially very valid) reasons why they might want Shikamaru in charge instead, and again risks making Hazou look like he's entirely too happy to be the leader. In light of that, I'd change 'Say that you'd be willing to accept the position, assuming the other teams (esp. Team Guy) also agree that we'd be the best leader.' to something more like 'Ask the other teams if they are okay with this arrangement and if they have any concerns or objections, and if they're willing to accept you as leader agree to it.' but I'm sleepy right now so that's probably not the best way to phrase it either.
Suppose enemies open up with a clearly lethal attack, such as a large AoE fire jutsu hot enough to give third degree burns to the victim aimed at one of our people. Do we proceed to only use nonlethal attacks in combat? If yes, why? If no, what level of lethality is required for the switch?
Suppose enemies are clearly intending to kill us (what with us being traitors of Mist and only missing nin to be accepted by a foreign power and closely connected to the ruler of the strongest country on the continent, we don't so much have targets painted on our backs as whole body target-tattoos). Suppose they come in force greater than ours when using nonlethal (e.g. 18 people to our 12), and use lethal (and thus more effective) attacks to boot. Presumably, we should switch to using lethal attacks to compensate in order to survive. In which order do we reveal our lethal tricks? How much danger to our lives is required before we start using potentially life-saving pangolin jutsus, fire log and pepper macerators, and secret abilities such as Mist Drain?
Is tying and draining people sufficient to disable them for the duration of this round of the exam? If we aren't guarding the place where bodies are stashed, then an enemy Wakahisa could untie and revive them back to combat-usefulness, if they were to find them. Do we take this risk or do we add additional safety to the disable plan, e.g. breaking their fingers and thus insuring they can't fight or use jutsus even if their chakra is restored?
Suppose we run into a team that we traded with. Do we proceed with the same plan as in case of a general team? This will potentially make all our party trick seals useless, as there aren't enough seals in other teams to force Mist into allowing our cheat.
Suppose we run into a team that we've traded with, and they want to fight us. What do we do?
Suppose that in half of the presumed 30 minute ambush window we get less than half of the seals we need to pass, i.e. we've fucked up. What do we do? Do we switch the ambush site? Something else?
In our group, a lot of people (Hazou, Neji, Akane, Noburi, Lee, Choji, Panjadrum, Panashe) are almost exclusively close-quarters combatants. How do we split targets in case of combat so as to not get in the way of one another? How do we insure such a high percentage of CCF doesn't get in the way of ranged attackers?
Out of remaining people, three (Sakura, Ino, Nara) don't deal damage and use primarily various disables. How are they utilised to boost our melee fighters(let's face it, that's our primary method of dealing damage)?
Close quarters fighters need to be, well, close. Suppose we are faced with a group of agile primarily ranged attackers, e.g. long-range jutsu users. How do we close in and insure they can't kite us(attack-run back-attack always keeping some distance between them and the melee fighters)?
Did we set up intra-party callsigns and henge-checkers(passwords that can be used to check if it's an infiltrator or not) yet?
Just some questions I had.
Will add suggestion to minimize explosive tag use to stronger teams (read: if we're not winning within the first round or two).So the battleground chosen makes use of Goo Bombs impractical. That leaves Banshee seals and explosives. The trouble is, both of those make a lot of noise, and if other teams hear sounds of battle they might simply move away from the area... or alternately, move into the area and pounce on our team immediately after the battle, before Noburi has a chance to top off chakra.
I would suggest that explosive seals be used only if necessary, and Banshee seals only if the enemy actually appears capable of equaling the 12-strong team's numbers and power.
...welp feck I'm probably gonna change to the forest/creek area or something...fmlOnce we get word on the answer (@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail) to this, I think we should strongly consider using it. No reason not to just ignore awareness if we can.
e:
Also, I don't really think that we have to worry about the enemy teams cooperating to lessen the effects of our seals. Prisoner's dilemmas aren't a common concept in ninjaspace. We can ask Nara, though.
I'll take a look-see, I'm already doing some major changes so will have to hold on that.@faflec My main criticism would be that what you have for the ambush is not so much an ambush plan as a general combat plan for holding a fortified position. How do we stop a team from going around us if they manage to detect us? Or from trying to disengage when they see our numerical superiority? I also don't think traps will be very practical, we simply won't have time to set them up properly, or re-set them every time they're tripped. And I don't like the location, I feel like it's too open and other teams will be able to take advantage of the water much better than we can. I'm including an alternative idea in this post.
I think we definitely want Panashe.Damn. Probably going to say no summons unless we want Panashe or change location. Ugh.
Yeah, I said that before I realized we might be better off changing location and making holes in the ground for our ambush.I think we definitely want Panashe.
It would require 175 chakra over three hours to have her up. (possibly 140 depending on when we summon her). Someone with 150 chakra recovers an average of 6.25 chakra per hour since it all recovers over 24 hours. We have 12 ninja (well, 11 ignoring Neji) that could provide chakra, so we could ask them each to provide 5 chakra to help with summoning Panashe at first (the initial summoning takes 105 chakra).
Neji has Social skills?Neji would absolutely object. Do we have plans for out-socialling him?
...Explain to me why we haven't invented these yet.He hasn't worked out silent explosions yet, it's his own fault!![]()
We already have directional explosives and silencing seals. Slap two on a kunai and fiddle with the parameters.I suggested it twice that I recall. Also invisible explosions. And both combined, because duh.
Trouble is, we have very limited research time because lighthouses are frowned upon.
(I still think it's weird we aren't walking around covered in Banshee Slayers, to be frank.)
Just let him keep his 5 chakra and thus lower his standing with the other genin?Neji would absolutely object. Do we have plans for out-socialling him?
They don't need to be on all the time; 10 minutes is long enough for most infiltrations and easily long enough for combat situations. You'd only need a few for, eg., hands, shoes and wherever makes the most noise. Have a few layers of backups for whenever you need to be hidden for an hour. They have a tiny hit box (barely enough to cover your ear when worn on earrings) and last 10min. The turnover rate would be insane.
I mean, last time, before the retcon, he refused to donate chakra too. And frankly he's an insouciant jerk.I really dislike how you guys are excessively negative about Neji. He hasn't actually done anything unhelpful and has always been convinced to go along with our plan

Does anyone have any objections to an ambush plan from underground? I've been considering moving to the forest location, having Hazou make an interconnected tunnel with multiple exit points using Tunnel Excavation (or having a Pangolin do it, that works too) for the 0 Awareness effect, and then having everyone burst out once they've entered the area (ideally in the physical killzone).

Like...holy shit, going underground almost requires Neji's Byakugan to be used for long periods of time, but 3hr is thousands of CP.
Or we could use Panashe, Sakura, or similar high-Awareness individuals with good enough Stealth. We'd just keep the low-Stealth teams underground, with the high-Stealth individuals peeking at the entrances to the tunnels.Living roots has the same difficulty.
We might have to give up entirely on an ambush and instead concentrate on finding teams with sweeping patrols, then moving in on them. If you have twelve people make stealth checks, one of them is going to blow it.
