I can't stop refreshing even if I know it's probably not going to be out until late Sunday.
The trick is to go to the Story-Only Thread and reread the whole thing from start to back.

Then repeat until sleep deprivation starts making you hallucinate an update where a spontaneous seal failure transports Hazou and co. to alternative universes where the QMs wrote a One Piece storyline instead of a Naruto storyline.

So that's how you have the whole dang story memorized...

As the team was cresting a ridge on their way back, Mori stopped them. "I didn't see that before, but look. Don't those fallen trees look like they could be a concealed shelter?"

"No, they don't," Wakahisa quickly replied. "It's just your imagination. And anyway, we need to hurry. We can report this to the jōnin and they can decide whether to send someone out to investigate."

"We're here to scout and identify threats and objects of interest," Mori said. "That is either a threat or an object of interest, and if it's a threat and we leave it, there may be catastrophic consequences."
Speaking of rereads, after the Exams does anyone want to ask Mari-sensei what that place was in the Swamp of Death?

Friendly to Hazou, that is. For all I know you're going to tile the universe with copies of the QM's & Players running various versions of this quest where Hazou flourishes against all odds. For all I know, I'm in one of those emulations right now.
It would explain how Hazou hasn't died yet...

So how much shit do you think we will get in for killing some ninja-kids?

And is there an exchange rate for how much shit mist is in with their stupid light idea?

And lastly the stupid wikihasa kid who thought it would be hilarious to mist drain in an open tournament.

*sigh*

This plan has too much detail. It's not going to work how we want.

I'm going to try to enjoy the cluster fuck I suppose.

I mean, even assuming the plan is bad (I don't think so), we are starting in a fortified area and we know the enemy is incoming. That should give us a bonus to initiative and defensive rolls, right?

At least the enemy Wakahisa knows where we are. It's not impossible for them to have some other sensor, but probably nothing as bullshit-tier as Byakugan. But even with only one enemy unit that knows where we are, we should assume the worst, that they're all working in concert and all are sharing information. They all know right where we are. I think any initiative bonus as such is nulled by both parties being aware of the other, unless the enemy fired off an opening salvo before the mist came out, with a delayed effect...

maybe

1 enemy Chūnin under truce = 100 civilians.
1 secret Clan technique leaking = 500 civilians
1 secret Balance of Power seal leaking = 10,000 civilians
1 Allied Joūnin = 1,000 civilians
Gross incompetence killing 1 Chūnin under truce = 75 civilians

What.

I go afk for a few hours and suddenly there are two fake QMs and faflec got temp-banned?

The heck happened?

We had a new poster under a legit account (registered for nearly a year) with a name close to Velorien's start posting yesterday. I didn't even notice faflec getting temp banned but someone pointed out a new user named OilWhale (that never got to post however) so there is probably a connection - but that's just speculation.

Huh. Did *anyone* see what happened with faflec? A quick search of his content says that he hasn't posted anywhere else recently, so it must have ha something to do with this thread. I also don't see a mod post, so I'm very confused.

My guess is Valorian popped up. Faflec then made the alternate OilWhale account and got hit by the automatic sock puppet detection system.

Edit: Yep OilWhale is labelled as a sock puppet.

So just throwing this out here: Mist draining is supposed to be a well kept secret and reasonably rare, right? What are the odds that all Chunin candidate Wakahisas know it? It is probably less than 100% so there is a chance that even if the enemy has multiple Wakahisas, Nobby could actually pull it off draining them through the Mist before they can - even when correcting upwards for the selection bias (if every Chunin Wakahisa can do it, it's extremely unlikely to remain such a big secret/legend for Wakahisa genins).

Once they get close and can actual water things change though.

That said, I am uncertain how things changed when the great rebalancing happened. Anyone care to chime in?

The main reason why Noburi would see Mist Drain as a legendary Wakahisa skill if it isn't rare is so that the Genin aren't obnoxious little brats about it all the time. "I totally felt that squirrel through the mist! Really, I did!" "Daaaad, when are you gonna teach me how to drain through mist?" and, of course, an academy student is much more likely to brag to their friends about the super-useful Wakahisa trump card because they didn't quite understand how important a 'clan secret' is.

So if Noburi stayed with the Wakahisa and grew to the point where he could drain through mist, someone in the clan would have taken him aside and told him that it's not actually legendary, but it is a trump card and it's a sign of his maturity that he can be trusted with it and blah blah blah.

Is the difference between genin and chunin candidates really that big tho in terms of maturity? Additionally, it would be extremely hard to keep such a secret anyway within such a big clan (ninjas being gossips was actually brought up during the Scorch Squad chapter).

I don't know, Mist draining was something that Nobby figured out himself and while it obviously makes sense that he isn't unique, it does diminish his achievements somewhat. Even Keiko's Combat Frozen Skein is something that was already alluded to being known to Mori Elders in a Lore Update so she didn't figure out anything super special either. And finally, Hazo's Roki is probably also not that unique. Any Kurosawa who gets the idea of combining deception into their taijutsu style would stumble upon it.

Essentially, my complaint would be that the things our characters worked hard to earn is something that other people could either already do (and much more easily due to professional instructions) or something that I suspect got later added into their arsenal once we discovered it in a manner of power creep.
To clarify, I get that other people should be able to draw the same conclusions our team mates did - but I am opposed to these abilities being too proliferated.

So if what you say about the connection is true I now feel more than a little bad about starting to post.

I'm going to take it up with some of the staff about deleting this account and starting a new one with a less similar name if that is possible. I don't want anymore confusion happening over my name.

None of this is your fault. People just saw the opportunity for a joke and just ran with it (possibly against a wall :p), no worries.
