Once again reinterate that we need to ask Jiraiya what or isn't allowed
Skywalkers are almost certainly a no-no, just so the thread at large knows. Putting on a good show at the Exams isn't worth even a tiny percentage chance that skywalkers fall into enemy hands / that someone gets inspired by them or figures them out somehow.

Is good to know. Still want everything explicitly laid out because the thread doesn't have enough information to make opsec decisions on our own.

Disposing of some elements from the plan:

  • Train skills to Chunin level.
This is ongoing. As previously mentioned, once we've hashed out all the details of all the various jutsu such that you have the necessary information to make informed decisions then you will be allowed to assign points retroactively.

  • Create black paper seal stock for team.
Described in earlier post.

  • Get mist-legal seals approved by clan leader.
You can use anything you know except skywalkers and skytowers.

[EDIT: And any of the privacy / anti-cheating-eyeballs seals that you've seen.]

  • Create method for obscuring LOS when watched by non eyeball mk1 (byakugan, sharingan, vibration sense, smell etc).
Remove barrel critical failure point (or minimisation strat).
  • Remove Keiko in command critical failure point (or minimisation strat).
  • Remove Hazo in Social critical failure point (or minimisation strat).
Ideas for how to do any of these things? No one has ever figured out a way to block the Byakugan or Sharingan barring some very limited seals that are not suitable for field deployment.

  • Store a metric fuckton of water in seals.
For definitions of "metric fuckton" that sound like "Noburi is now carrying 30 storage scrolls full of water" then you have accomplished this.

Practice various seal-based tactics.
Such as?

@eaglejarl That section was intended as a way for us to explicitly have Hazou be thinking about those things

e: Note, this is not intended to offload processing onto you. Just to make it slightly more realistic when he comes up with eighty different tactics in 30 minutes flat :p

Hey y'all, I'm writing a chunk of the update and am looking at a bit that suggests practicing with flashbangs. My recollection was that the current version of macerators could not perform the iron-grinding needed to do flashbangs - does anyone have a handy explanation for what the plan is referring to?

Okay, but that means you're essentially asking the QMs to do your thinking for you. Which is a thing you can do, but it will kill your XP awards.
Note the edit. It was a centralized "These are things Hazou needs to do before the exams" list -- not for the QMs to spend processing on. Actually, I probably shouldn't be the one to explain this right now, I'm sick and probably not making much sense.

I think it was supposed to be a TODO list to make sure that we don't forget anything important before the exam(And there's a LOT), not ask the QM to do the heavy lifting.

Ah, I see. Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.

This also solves the issue of avoiding pepper spray from our own seals quite nicely.

(This is how seal tags look in canon right? Not watched the anime in years but I am reasonably certain this is it.)

I'm not sure what the context of that was, but depending on how stupid of an idea it is... well, white-hot metal would be significantly softer.

Does the chakra infused water pushed into mist stop bullshit eyepowers LOS issue?

I think it was calculated earlier that fuckton of sealed water equals 250 scrolls. (Enough to give coverage of stadium floor)

Re: black paper seals, we want a full team load of them for the tournament, so that spamming should drive the skillcheck down to 1?

Re: Training, how far are we off infusing skywalkers ourselves?

Re: Barrel criticality, do we have a camelback? And can he take a tertiary barrel transformed? For that matter, can hazo be transformed to appear to be Noburi with a barrel?

If you mean by that: "You want the Goketsu and Nara to see exactly the same benefits from the deal." then: Yes, absolutely. That's the best way to incentivise Shikaku to throw his whole weight behind this, in order to maximise what we both get out of the deal. If you can have a thousand dollars for yourself, or you and one other person each get ten thousand, then you pick the latter option almost every time. It's not like the Nara are a political enemy and their gain is our loss. Quite the contrary. They're political allies, and their gain is our gain (at least so long as the power balance remains at least the same).

Terrible idea. Honestly terrible. You want to maximise what we get out by halving it. It's okay for allies to not share everything, because the Nara sure as shit isn't giving us any free money so we will be their friends.

Neither confirming or denying that 27 dice would be sufficient, but I still don't know what this 27 number is from?
IIRC it was a QM meta-response to me doing the math that Kylinger posted above much earlier in the thread.

e: Went something like:

Me: It'd be around 27 to be Chuunin
QM: Incidentally that's about how much training [it wasn't put into the context of numbers directly in the post, IIRC] Kagome thinks you'll need to infuse skywalkers. You can research them now, with his help, but infusing them would be risky.

e2: Which makes sense, to be honest. IIRC having someone who knows the seal help you with research gets a 2/3 modifer to the TN, and 2/3 of 27 is 18, at which point Hazou would have a 71% chance of not failing. Granted, that's not particularly good odds, but.

Why?

Specifically, why is Jiraiya not sufficient?

Jiraiya is a good diplomancer, but trying to get the level of concessions we want requires overwhelming diplomatic force on our end. For smaller requests, yes Jiraiya on his own would be more than sufficient. But I doubt we can get access to all Pangolin jutsu without multiple skilled negotiators on our side.

The plan calls for "implosion seals (prepped)". Does this mean ones already containing air, and if so, why?
