So you want to sell everything Goketsu gets from the pangolins in exchange for the Nara's help in negotiations? That seems excessive.

If you mean by that: "You want the Goketsu to give up everything they would have gotten to the Nara instead." then: No? Where did I say that?

If you mean by that: "You want the Goketsu and Nara to see exactly the same benefits from the deal." then: Yes, absolutely. That's the best way to incentivise Shikaku to throw his whole weight behind this, in order to maximise what we both get out of the deal. If you can have a thousand dollars for yourself, or you and one other person each get ten thousand, then you pick the latter option almost every time. It's not like the Nara are a political enemy and their gain is our loss. Quite the contrary. They're political allies, and their gain is our gain (at least so long as the power balance remains at least the same).

Can someone clarify the difference? I'm too congested to really tell.

There could have been a maximum depth based on how chakra magic works, also I assume that going deeper costs chakra. So we are limited there I assume.

Also Noburi should get an Earth affinity and tunnel to the Planet core and ....do something, like bomb it.

In conclusion, @Radvic can now destroy the world in three or four steps;

  • Prepare deep dive equipment, dozens of Tunnelers Friend and maybe some heatproof gear
  • HLaM until you reach the core
  • Intentionally fail a storage seal infusion
  • Wait for Earth's internals to be completely sucked into the Hell dimension to destroy Earth.

Infodump: Goggles. Black paper for seals.
Goggles: Useful prerequisite to using flashbangs or pepper Macerators. Does Hazou know how to make Kurosawa-style goggles? Do research in Konoha's goggles (do they exist, how much...). Does Kabuto have any? He has glasses... Experiment with Usamatsu's Glorious Life-Saving Purifier to protect from pepper spray. If it works: Put Purifiers below eyes and have them eat the pepper spray. Consider snow goggles to protect from light.
Respectively: No. No but there are a few people with glasses (e.g. Shino, Kabuto). It works but is unreliable. Where would you get them?

Black paper: Experiment with drawing seals on black paper. Do this in a super-secure location. Full defenses. Kawarimi targets for escape. If possible have Kagome/Mari/Noburi ready for help. Draw the simplest seal we can do. Focus on concentration when infusing & mark seal orientation so that we don't infuse the wrong way. Mark seal orientation and the name of the intended design you are going to use, before drawing the seal. Recommendation for orientation is an arrow in the top upper left corner pointing to the corner. Do this CONSISTENTLY. Once you are done, you mark that seal as completed with an X or so. ...maaaybe we could ask Kagome to infuse such a seal that we've drawn (so he 100% knows it's drawn correctly)?
Fine, done except for the last bullet. When you draw one of Kagome's simplest explosive seals on black paper and ask Kagome to infuse it he drags you off to Mari and insists that she "do that freaky brainrip thing to make sure it's really him!" She looks at him for a moment, then makes a chain of handseals you've never seen before, stares you in the eyes intently for ten seconds, and says "Yep, it's him." Then she pats Kagome on the hand and wanders off to make tea.

Kagome refuses to infuse the seal. When you write a Chime seal on black paper you have no problem infusing it, although it's somewhat more difficult than normal.

Gosh danged phrasing on that line. I'm pretty sure what was intended was for Kagome to infuse one of his own seals, not the chime :p

So, I'm pretty 100% sure that Jiraiya could infuse skywalkers on black paper. We should start writing them for him, assuming he's actually learned them himself.

Can we threadmark this? Chapter 153.1: Kagome calmly makes sure his student is not a stinking Lupachanz and just an idiot.

Okay I think I understand wear we are both coming from. I essentially expect that we will get equivalent results if we include Shikaku in the deal or not. I also think that the Nara are in a much stronger position than Goketsu is politically. So I feel like we need to do what we can to strengthen our position relative to the Nara. I also feel like the Nara are in a much better position to exploit any gains made from the trade with the pangolins since they outnumber our clan 15 to 1. Lastly I expect Shikaku to develop a working relationship with the pangolins that he would exploit for more political gain.

I am actually ok with Shikaku getting most of these things but would want more in exchange. Say 50 hours of his time to work on engineer projects would be a good demand

Clearly your long-term plan should be for the Nara and Gōketsu clans to fuse into a single world-controlling supergenius / supercreative clan full of amazing secret technology, overpowered summoning-clan jutsu, and truly terrifying seals.

E: heck, come to think of it, Ino-Shika-Cho aren't even *really* three separate clans, just an amalgam with Nara at the head. Add in Gōketsu to the mix by marrying one of the boys to Ino, and you're 2/3 of the way to a 4-way mega-fusion.
Damnit, @OliWhail! It's bad enough that they keep breaking into the GM notes, you don't have to give them the info for free!

Threadmarked under 'Informational', and updated the text to make it clear that it was one of Kagome's seals you were asking him to infuse.

@eaglejarl

Do we get any bonus for infusing black seals? Like, instead of lowering the TN by 1, we lower it by 3?

So we know black seals work, but the difficulty is higher, which might means increased TN or lower sealing dices. I suggest we gradually and slowly expand our repertoire of black paper seals rather than assuming we're home free.

Haha, yeah for sure, lemme-

I'm going to hide behind "Hazō wouldn't know" for now, until you guys have made enough of them for him to have some notion of the learning rate involved.

We should definitely not use black paper seals at the exams. That's the kind of thing we keep secret for stuff like Skywalkers.

e: On the other hand... black bottomed shoes, would anyone be able to even tell that that was a seal if we used black paper skywalkers?

Once again reinterate that we need to ask Jiraiya what Is or isn't allowed for the exams
