If Kagome actually believed everything he said why is he ok with leaving Mari in Leaf right now?
"Anyway, once you know how to move lifeforce around between bodies it's easy to kill someone by sucking them dry. Then you cut their brain out, fix it, and shove some lifeforce back into the body to bring them back. Their brain was fixed so from then on they're loyal to whichever brother brought them back."

@faflec personally would not bother having a heart to heart with Akane right now. I personally would prefer a scene where we talk to Kei about how she is the only member of team uplift to not have a combat style. That way the hivemind can start working on powering her up

@faflec, I love your crazy clown ass.

[X] Action Plan: Still The Mission

I think we should put any kind of explanation (apology or not) off until Minami and Akane are in Sand. If Akane is pissed at us we should just ask her to wait a few days, after all she is pretty understanding in most situations.

Mainly because we don't have a lot of time to address the topics on hand.

Maybe something along the lines off:

- Hazou askes for time to order his thought's why he decided to tell Minami about Noburi's secret.
- We still apologizes that we didn't involve him, that was thoughtless regardless of the situation.
- Wait until Akane &Minami are in Sand

General rules for selecting for the mission (not in any particular order):
  • We want to take missions that help protect the contact/ensure their safety.
  • We don't want to take missions that keep us in the area for a significant period of time (e.g., >1hr).
  • We prefer to avoid morally "wrong" situations (e.g., killing so the contact can gain power in the town).
  • We want to avoid risks to the mission (i.e., any involvement with rival ninja is a no-go).

IMO if a mission comes up we're likely to get a chance to discuss it, rather than it being auto-accepted, so this section probably isn't necessary. (I'm also not big on the third point, as this could continue the trend of Hazou coming off as naive) Oh, and ">1hr" isn't a significant amount of time - if you want to keep this then I'd bump it up to greater than a day.

I mean...the problem is that if we allow this, then we have to stop every single time we get a request for assistance. Which, given the number of locations we have to visit...we'll probably spend several months of RL time just to finish the mission.

Ugh... Voting here is hard.
One plan is flawed (marriage and Noburi really shouldn't mix for now), and the other is like one of our poor character's lists: a good idea that seems to have become an obsessive-compulsive disorder, pushed along by the general evilness and spitefulness of the world that makes his obsession necessary.
Fuck the cycle of hatred, if this gets any worse we'll have a cycle of paperwork!

Which training plan are we running? When can we train?

Anyway, I'll vote for this for now.

I would remove the bullet point about misterators and Noburi's jutsu. That risks bringing back up some... Undesirable subjects of conversation.

How about I include a plan for Sand and then we have that conversation?

We can do that, but Minami should decide if we go to sand or finish all River contacts first.

We do have to go to Tani at some point, right? On the Geographical map it is considered the captial. Not sure what that means for MfD but if it's an important city and that means there a going to be some River/(Hidden Valley) ninja. That means higher security, something Minami maybe knows more than us.

Maybe we should ask Minami if she want's to continue with the original path or put a break into it (aka going to Sand) to give everyone time?

True, but Tea and Nagi can be finished in one update before we decide on the Mission (thanks to the locations).

Yeah, I mean that we would finish the Rivers contacts and then go to Suna in the same update.

I am all for collecting all River missions and then going to Sand (they aren't that far apart). We should only stop if any of the missions interfere with said contact in a very short time frame.

That's what you mean right? I don't see a problem with that.

Yeah, I mean that I would include the next leg of our journey in this plan.

But punching people gets more exp. we should punch all the people
@eaglejarl will be happy if we punch people. We should make him happy also explosions.

If a request is trivial then I expect we'll probably do it without it being an issue or need for us to plan. That said, I doubt every location has a mission (most people don't have minor crime lords trying to rob them, ya know), and there'll be some that get rejected out of hand by Minami (requires too much time, can just message Jiraiya that there's a job that needs doing and he can send ninja to do it).

[X] Action Plan: Still The Mission

My experience with relationships leads me to believe that a simple "We dun goofed. Sorry. Will do better next time." will do with Akane. Actions speak louder than words afterall.

Let's not justify ourselves to Nobs with the clan secrets thing. "We fucked up, dude. Sorry. Won't happen again and we owe you another one." and leave it at that. There's no need to even tangentially make this concern Minami, albeit an honest mistake it was still our fault. He doesn't need the play-by-play of our thought process and social influences that culminated in that train wreck.

[X] Action Plan: Still The Mission

  • Get to the other River contacts.
    • Use Skywalkers to move from place to place.
      • Make sure that when ascending or descending we aren't spotted.
      • We should be using chakra water to speed our movements, and refill as needed.
    • Whenever resting, do so using Skytower technology.
      • Keep a standard watch out for flying chakra monsters.
    • Make contact.
      • Everyone going to the contact together is too conspicuous (esp. with Kagome and Noburi's barrel).
        • Minami will need time to trust us again, let her decide who to make contact and who to watch from a distance.
      • Use Henge to turn into the appropriate cover, based on our knowledge of the contact.
        • Discuss this beforehand; between Hazou, Keiko, and Minami this should be easy.
      • Make sure we're prepared.
        • Everyone has the appropriate number of seals: Explosive tags, PMYF, Skywalkers, etc..
        • Everyone's topped off with Noburi's chakra beforehand.
      • Deliver the message, and ask if they have more messages to send or need "short-term muscle".
        • Don't commit to giving muscle to the contact; discuss with the team first.
        • General rules for selecting for the mission (not in any particular order):
          • We want to take missions that help protect the contact/ensure their safety.
          • We don't want to take missions that keep us in the area for a significant period of time (e.g., >1hr).

          • We want to avoid risks to the mission (i.e., any involvement with rival ninja is a no-go).
  • Apologize to Noburi.
    • We fucked up with telling Minami about your abilities. Our desire to integrate Minami into the group quickly and our naivete with regards to secrets caused us to ignore OPSEC concerns since she is a) not in our ingroup and b) in a rival clan. To make matters worse, we didn't even realize the magnitude of our failure and needed you (and Keiko, and Akane) to save the day. We acknowledge understanding of our failure and beg forgiveness.
    • Offer to do whatever it takes to make up for our screwup. We recognize we're in the middle of a mission but if there's anything we can do during said mission OR after said mission we'll do it.
  • Heart-to-heart with Akane.
    • We screwed up with our big mouth. Again.
    • HALP

Requested critiques:
  • Am I being too harsh on Minami when apologizing to Noburi? Recall she will likely be listening to this conversation.
  • I'm not sure how to write the Akane scene. In the retcon'd scene Akane was pissed that we seemed to have not learned from our mistakes last time (emotional outburst causing a fuckup).

I'm a bit wary of the social aspects of the plan. In list form!
- Minami: I think she needs the opportunity to lead. She is nominally our squad leader appointed by the Hokage, so if we want to demonstrate our capacity to safely integrate into Leaf we should make a point of respecting that. I anticipate this should also make her feel more comfortable with the situation, help Kagome internalize the "concept of she's on our side", and help demonstrate to the other genin our contrition. Of course, Hazou should absolutely have a plan ready to go if someone asks him. If he is not asked but perceives a dangerous gap in whatever plan the group decides on, he could bounce his objections off Keiko (and maybe Noburi?) before jumping in.

- Noburi: This is our second time severely harming him by saying the wrong thing, so I feel like the usual effusive apology will feel hollow. In his shoes I would have moved beyond "Hazou better feel bad" to "what is he going to do to stop this from happening again?" Let's do something concrete to start fixing the problem, and *then* apologize, and even then keep it brief.

- Keiko: We should take this opportunity to make her feel valued, and ask her for help modeling her. Does she have any mental tricks (that are socially acceptable to share with Hazou) that could help avert situations like this in the future?

- Akane: Same-ish thing as with Noburi. "I'm going to fix this now. Sorry for almost ruining things again. I'm glad you're here. Have a pin."

- Kagome: He's going to be super stressed out from being in the doghouse and ordered about by Minami. Let's be doghouse buddies with him during quiet moments, make sure he stays relatively emotionally stable. Maybe we can distract him with sealing ideas for Noburi?

[X] Action Plan: Still The Mission

  • General thoughts:
    • When talking about mission-related plans we let Minami take the lead. We offer suggestions listed below.
      • MAKE SURE WE FOLLOW OPSEC RULES THIS TIME
      • Maybe talk with Keiko about our plan if we have a private moment.
  • Get to the other River contacts.
    • Use Skywalkers to move from place to place.
      • Make sure that when ascending or descending we aren't spotted.
      • We should be using chakra water to speed our movements, and refill as needed.

  • Go to Sand.
    • OPSEC concerns:
      • Most of our number are still (technically) missing-nin, so Minami and Akane (???) should go. Jiraiya should have written out that part of the plan, or told us before we left.
      • Don't bring Skywalkers in case they get confiscated. I'm not 100% on how Sand treats ambassadors but it would be a bad idea to take the risk.
      • Make it seem like we came to Sand on foot. Park a Skytower near the Sand-Rivers border and let Minami/Akane go in on foot, then come back on foot. We meet them and prep for Tea.
  • Talk with the team when we have time:
    • Apologize to Noburi.
      • We fucked up with telling Minami about your abilities. Added a section of us going to Sand after Rivers. Also some general thoughts to maintain OPSEC & let Minami take the lead.

@faflec dislike the line about not taking mission if other ninja might be involved. Contact might be under immediate threat if the situation has all ready
Do like giving Minami agency.

We are an exceptionally good team at capturing. If there were enemy ninja, we could capture them and be back at the Leaf border to deliver them within just a couple hours.
