I know you have chakra draining on there. But I think a specific set of seals designed to imprison/transport someone dangerous would be useful. A seal that went on the back of the head and disrupted electrical signals sent from the brain could be quite useful for instance. Maybe I missed it when reading over it.

On the tree there are already 2 seals that come close to that. A seal that broadcasts an "ignore signals from motor neurons" genjutsu, and the poor man's 64 palms seal, that prevents the target from using chakra.

The boy looked chagrinned. "Sorry," he said, "I'm Kagome _____. I mean. You can just call me Kagome, sensei."
I think we know Kagomes first name. Its Yu or Yuu or something. It was mentioned in one of the Kagome PoV updates. Took me a hell of a time to figure out it was Kagome not another person I'd forgotten or a third party that hadn't been introduced.

True, it's Yū (transliteration: Yuu) although he hasn't told it to you in character. Still, it's an omake. You're allowed to change things.

Amazing Fanart: The Team Plays Games
So, yeah, uh, when I said before that a couple of guys got me to draw a picture for the thread? Well, Here's another one!

And finally, they also left a note:

"@eaglejarl and @Velorien, thank you for sticking with this and with us. Thank you for the quality of the world and characters you've brought to life, for all the QM snark and all the paranoia and all the heart-warming scenes.

Merry belated Winter Solstice, and may 2017 contain even more laughter, even more joy, and even more teeth-grinding terror in the world of Marked for Death.

This is a gift from @Aabcehmu, @Cariyaga, @ChronOblivion, @Jello_Raptor, @OliWhail, @Radvic, and @Twofold, with input from several other members of the player base."

EDIT: Here's a link to the source file. For anyone who wants to mess with it.

Given that The Great Rebalancing is a thing (so I guess we've completed the tutorial level now), there are a couple of things we should probably discuss.

First up, @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail, will we have to find out the new dice levels on our own through interacting with the world, or will you just tell us something like "Chunin level skills now have x dice, jonin level skills now have y dice, kage level skills now have z dice."?

Second, Oli said (I can't remember whether it was here or on discord) that now that he(she?)'s seen the great rebalancing discussions in GM chat that we need to "step up our game". I don't suppose anyone has any ideas for doing so? My current best idea is to invent a bunch of low-mid tier seals and see if we can slot them together into S-ranked seal machines.

I want to clarify (because this sounds more ominous than I intended) that the warning I gave was at least partially tongue in cheek, but also that the reason I said it was to try to keep the thread from being overconfident in the near future, because I care about both the characters and the participants and don't want silly mistakes to mean they are all sad.

(While I am technically fine with any set of pronouns people want to use as long as everyone uses the same ones, in the past people have used masculine, so let's stick with those.)

Start work on simple, but game-changing seal designs that allow us to punch several dimensions above our weight class.
  • Flight-boot seals that we've been discussing: making the seals and practicing using them should let us run from any non flight-capable/S-rank ninja. Or Sand patrols, because they can apparently fly/glide on their machines.
  • Portable 5SB/Force Wall seals. Use in conjunction with an unsealed -large object- as a practically invulnerable defense.
@eaglejarl @Velorien @AugSphere @Jackercracks Question on the mechanism of implosion seals. If I put an implosion seal in a sealed container (e.g., a 5SB box) and activated the implosion seal would the seal be able to absorb air from outside the box or no?

Alright, in response to complaints that 100 words isn't enough, I've made an expanded plan here. This plan follows the
  • What
    • How
      • Why
structure we've used for some plans. Feel free to just read the first bullet point if you want to understand basically what the plan does (hint: it's the same as my other plan but with more detail)

[X] Action Plan: Seals and Monies Expanded
  • Use our favour for a broad spectrum of seals
    • Ask for a broad spectrum of seals like we mentioned in the previous chapter, and also one which strengthens a material without immobilizing it
      • Reduces the difficulty of future seal research, allowing us to (once we have time and a lab) research seals which allow us to compete with stronger ninja on a roughly even playing field, and wil fuel any specific plans we make.
      • We'll save mom, but not right now.
  • Continue many Leaf interactions
    • Work at the library diligently as requested. Keep an eye out for interesting books.
      • We promised we'd do it.
    • Continue to be kind towards Team Asuna: discuss Yumehara with Nara, be nice to Ino
      • Friendships take maintenance, we should stay on friendly terms
    • Visit Akane when possible, keep her up to date on plans
      • Relationships take maintenance, we should stay on romantic terms. Also we need to figure out how we're going to find Akane when she gets better.
  • Train seriously - improve stealth.
    • Do our stealth training with Lee
      • We're going to need better stealth to stay away from hunter-nin, cross borders, infiltrate towns, and all the other stuff we've been failing.
  • Accept Jutsu Training
    • Ask for jutsus which give us senses of what's underground, buff taijutsu, tunnel through earth, and move the earth around. Put 1 XP into each so we can level ones we like later. If instructor offers to teach us additional jutsu, also put 1 XP into them
      • We want utility and options for where to invest our XP
  • Learn Tears of Red, play it for Akane, and thank Ino
    • Practice on our instrument with the sheet music Ino gave us, play for Akane
      • We like Akane
  • Purchase essential ninja supplies
    • Let Mari do some supply shopping
      • Who knows how many supplies e.g. kunai we have left?
  • Purchase sealing materials
    • Buy 40,000 両 worth of seal paper and ink (ask Jiraiya for recommendation on where).
      • Sealing is the primary way we'll be staying relevant. We need materials, Leaf is a great place to get them
  • Buy Books (with what's left over)
    • Purchase books on woodworking and cooking for Kagome
      • It'll help him destress, which is incredibly important for him not blowing everything up
    • Purchase an architecture book
      • We're going to be trying to develop original designs in the woods. Having more knowledge will only help
    • Yumehara's History Series if it's under 10,000 両 (return Nara's copy)
      • We need to know more about the world at large. This seems like a reasonably comprehensive guide. but we don't want to blow all our money on it.
    • Contemporary global political situation leaflet/book/magazine
      • We need to pick out where we'll be hiding next, knowing more about the current political climate in other countries would help
    • Whatever our teammates want (that doesn't break the bank)
      • Surely we aren't the only one who like books
  • Compliment Mari on her new hair
  • Talk to Inoue and later Jiraiya about Kabuto
    • Talk to Inoue about Kabuto and bringing his behavior up to Jiraiya. Either 1. Kabuto's supposed to be doing everything he can to find out about all of you, and is supposed to be very good at it, even if that means indirectly, maybe, threatening Akane. 2. Kabuto isn't supposed to be doing any of these things and Jiraiya might be able to help or will find the information valuable.
    • If given the green light, talk to Jiraiya with Inoue so she can give her impressions as well. Stress that whether it is option 1 or 2 Akane is very precious to our team and we are willing to go pretty damn far to keep her safe.
      • Because Kabuto is a little creepy and Akane is important to us
  • Maintain current safety precautions
    • Don't talk about topics we haven't already brought up
      • Because who knows who's listening
    • Always be polite
      • Because we don't want to offend
    • Remain vigilantly observing
      • Because we don't want to be assassinated
    • Randomly dispel
      • Because genjutsu kills

[X] Action Plan: Seals and Monies Expanded

@Radvic
  • Training:
    • Add a section that lets us do work with the new jutsu we're getting.
    • Make sure to keep Kabuto in the loop when doing jutsu training: last thing we want is to renege on our deal with this guy.
  • Buying:
    • Make sure to get all the prices for everything before we buy. That way we can make sure to get the stuff we need (sealing tools/ninja equipment) while keeping enough for books.
    • Make a note to filter the cookbooks based on ingredients (we want a broad range of cooking recipes since we'll be traveling beyond Leaf). Ask Akimichi.
      • Do the same thing with any other books we read. We don't want a book that gives a comprehensive biological history of all the fauna and flora of the Land of (e.g.,) Snow.
    • Make a note that if we buy Yumehara's History Volume I we should return Shikamaru's copy of the book to him.
  • Add contingencies (below).
  1. Neither confirm nor deny anything about our conversation with Akane until we have a chance to talk with her again. (Don't tell anyone we're specifically waiting to talk to her again either.)
  2. Opsec Contingencies
    1. Don't mention family or bloodlines unless someone in a position of authority is specifically demanding we discuss them
      1. As in, if at all possible, do not mention the Iron Nerve, do not say the words "Iron Nerve", neither confirm nor deny that we have done anythin with the Iron Nerve or have ever discussed it while in Leaf.
    2. Don't mention training or techniques except in the context of being about-to-train or rewards
    3. Continue randomized dispelling
    4. Be suspicious of any Leaf nin who are not Akane, Jiraiya, or Team Asuma. Be only mildly suspicious of Jiraiya and Team Asuma.
  3. Default to CCnJ whenever any interpersonal issues show up
  4. Don't piss off Leaf
    1. Be polite to everyone we meet
    2. Listen to our handlers and follow their (reasonable) instructions to the letter
  5. Try to minimize Kagome's stress level by not making him talk too much / interact with non-teammates if he doesn't feel like it, keeping close-by, encouraging him to eat any of the nice food we get that have already been checked for poison, esp. sweets and chocolate.
  6. Safety and Security Rules
    1. Default to not splitting the party
    2. Keep a watch in our room even at night
    3. Make sure we all have whatever the local equivalent of white flags are
    4. When in public, try to stick to areas with a reasonable number of civilians and other ninja
  7. Combat contingencies
    1. White tactics by default
    2. Use any panic buttons Jiraiya has given us (none yet, sounds like)
    3. Try to leave the city or converge on Jiraiya's office to turn ourselves in. Make sure we're doing the equivalent of waving white flags.
    4. If we aren't able to immediately disengage, end the update for combat planning.
  8. Assume we are being spied on at pretty much all times by multiple parties

I kinda figured that jutsu training would be in a couple days, outside the scope of the next update. But, I'll add a section about it.

Make sure to get all the prices for everything before we buy. That way we can make sure to get the stuff we need (sealing tools/ninja equipment) while keeping enough for books.
Honestly, I don't want to deal with needing to specifically vote on everything we buy, or wait for different updates to price compare. I'll just reorder it so essentials (ninja supplies and sealing supplies) come before books.

Make a note to filter the cookbooks based on ingredients (we want a broad range of cooking recipes since we'll be traveling beyond Leaf). Ask Akimichi.
  • Do the same thing with any other books we read. We don't want a book that gives a comprehensive biological history of all the fauna and flora of the Land of (e.g.,) Snow.
I assumed we'd just do that, but I can write it out explicitly without too much difficulty.

Make a note that if we buy Yumehara's History Volume I we should return Shikamaru's copy of the book to him.
I assumed we'd not steal his copy, but I can add a note for that (it'll take, like, two words)

Add contingencies (below).
Oh dear. The contingency list. Most of these I feel are already addressed or Hazou's already working towards and I'd rather not clutter up the plan (trying to make things readable and accessible). Here's my interpretation of them and how I've already included them in my plan or why they aren't there.

Neither confirm nor deny anything about our conversation with Akane until we have a chance to talk with her again. (Don't tell anyone we're specifically waiting to talk to her again either.)
I don't really understand the purpose of this. Do we not want to tell people we're dating Akane? Why? Like, I don't think she'd have an issue with it? I'm unsure why we'd do this.

  • Don't mention family or bloodlines unless someone in a position of authority is specifically demanding we discuss them
    1. As in, if at all possible, do not mention the Iron Nerve, do not say the words "Iron Nerve", neither confirm nor deny that we have done anythin with the Iron Nerve or have ever discussed it while in Leaf.
  • Don't mention training or techniques except in the context of being about-to-train or rewards
I think this is covered by "Don't talk about topics we haven't already brought up"

Continue randomized dispelling
Already in the plan

Be suspicious of any Leaf nin who are not Akane, Jiraiya, or Team Asuma. Be only mildly suspicious of Jiraiya and Team Asuma.
We're ninja who've studied under Kagome. If this isn't Hazou's default state, then I don't know what to do.

Default to CCnJ whenever any interpersonal issues show up
Pretty sure Hazou does this automatically now? Like, we've established Hazou's general behavior, we don't need to put it in every plan.

Don't piss off Leaf
undefined
Covered by "Always be polite"

Try to minimize Kagome's stress level by not making him talk too much / interact with non-teammates if he doesn't feel like it, keeping close-by, encouraging him to eat any of the nice food we get that have already been checked for poison, esp. sweets and chocolate.
Pretty sure we already do this? Like, I'm not saying we should stop it, so I assume we'll keep doing it.

Safety and Security Rules
undefined
Honestly, I'm reasonably comfortable with Leaf at the moment, and expect any attack will come when we leave, not while we're here, so I'd prefer to spend our effort doing other things. That said, I'm also reasonably confident we'll default to keeping watches. Like, we'd probably need to have a team discussion to stop watches, and I'm not proposing that.

  4. If we aren't able to immediately disengage, end the update for combat planning.
honestly, if combat breaks out, I'd like a scene break to determine what to do (which is what has happened in the past, and I assume is also what would happen in the future). I'd prefer any combat plan to be specialized to the situation, rather than dealing with generalities. I assume we've already communicated as at team that we don't want to kill people should combat break out, so this doesn't really help us at all, aside from potentially giving up agency should combat occur.

Assume we are being spied on at pretty much all times by multiple parties
Pretty sure we're already doing this, and it doesn't really contribute anything to the plan anyways.

Updated plan is here:
[X] Action Plan: Seals and Monies Expanded

    • Ask for a broad spectrum of seals like we mentioned in the previous chapter, and also one which strengthens a material without immobilizing it

@Radvic The contingency section is copied from @oliwalrus plan
Yep, that said, endlessly copied contingency sections are part of why I stopped reading and voting for action plans. I'm not going to vote for something I'm not going to read. And I think my commentary on that section isn't changed too much despite the fact Oliwhail wrote it :p
