Will see if I have time later, but would vote for a plan that's shorter in duration. Mainly, I still want to be at the grotto when Kagome tries SC for the first time, to give maximum time and setting. And I would prefer it to be an EJ chapter (because the QMs would as well). Yuno was also tentatively interested in SC, yes?

Considering how much easier the water makes TH, I almost wanna dump our banked XP into TH, and try working on a technique that could be useful but we don't currently use, and see how much the water helps us. I know it's not actually a good idea because stagnancy, and other priorities, and most techs not being needed right now. But some boosted practice could be helpful, or at least fun, and I'd love if Geode Coffin could become not bad, or living roots could be juiced, or reaching arms/bleeding river could go from "good enough to level once we have a chance" to "pretty much required to level". I know we shouldn't, and I don't disagree, it is just me expressing wistfulness at a missed opportunity.
(ES is too important to try at anything less than chunin TH, imo, since we really need to get it right to save XP, and it would be VERY helpful if we could make it combat viable or less grueling in some form.)

[X] Action Plan: Journey to the West
Word Count: <299
Desired Duration: Up to 15(12) days
  • Hazou
    • Continue dual tracking Unchained TR150 and Force Domes w/DoB, reroll for progress, drop prep as Hazoupilot prefers
    • Contine rerolling both for progress until Hazou has <4 FP
    • Difficulty checks on: Great Seal, Space-Contracting, Earth-Element Focus, Superheater, Distresser, Chakra EMP. If there are additional free days and the Great Seal prep day has not yet rolled a +0 or better, reprep it.
    • After the first cycle, or two cycles if Hazou is on cycles of 4 or fewer days. Leave the grotto, heading west to the wilderness beyond Wind. Clean up any expended runes, and bury the active ones.
    • Examine the misterator that wouldn't activate.
  • Noburi
    • Should prioritize working on SC research, healing Yuno, and teaching Hazou Mednin
  • Kagome
    • Continue working on Banshee Fuckers, coordinate cycles with Hazou so that we don't waste his work.
  • Kei+Tenten
    • Should prioritize searching the caves for the Otter Scroll (and more prosaically, cleaning up any traces of our battles therein) they should retreat from any sign of chakravores/magmaspines.
  • Find a campsite in the wilderness
    • Set up a camp and research base in the western wilderness. Pick a deserted area, and fortify/disguise it.
    • Contine with an additional cycle of research (unless one of the tracks has completed by then).
________
As always, feedback is welcome, this one is kind of a slog, unfortunately. We're pretty much out of interesting plot hooks.

We have some space in the word count. Possibly one additional scene so I am taking requests. (This is usually exhausted quickly)
So the plan is prioritise learning enough mednin to replicate the water's effect.... Then immediately leave without researching it?
That seems messed up. We should at least wait 1 more cycle, or split this into 2 4-day cycles or something.

Also, sending just Kei+Tenten as a search party seems risky. They'll be a little short on firepower, have very lopsided team composition, and low margin for error(if one get disabled or needs help, the team needs to deal with that situation while at 50% ability)
At least give them Canvass for tracking. Maybe also use some of Yuno/Kagome's chakra to get Mari to combat-viable levels so the team has an EJounin statline and emergency Genjutsu.

We could do my anti-Hidan plan:
[ ] Action Plan: Seducing Eldritch Horrors
Word count: <399.
  • Talk to Kei, Snowflake, and Kagome. Outline the problem of Hidan.
    • Jashin's probability-manipulation has been corroborated by Orochimaru, Kamehameha, and empirical evidence. According to Orochimaru, Hidan leverages it for tracking.
    • Based on your calculations, taking a conservative view of Hidan's capabilities, he can easily find us across hundreds of miles. Realistically, he can "refuel" his "budgets", using sacrifices or something. If so, even going beyond the EN won't save us. If he's focusing on us, and Jashin is guiding him, tracking us is just a matter of time. He might already be en route.
    • We can deal with Hidan, alone. He won't be alone. If he and one other Akatsuki find us, we're dead, period.
    • If Jashin is guiding him. Kei confirmed that in Bakuchioka, a probability-manipulating entity skewed luck in Hazou's favour. The outcome of Hazou's fight with Daizen likewise seems unnatural.
    • Whether this was Jashin or, per Kamehameha, a different entity, doesn't matter. There's a probability-manipulating entity willing to counteract Hidan's probability-manipulation for Hazou.
    • You suggest communing with it, and negotiating keeping Akatsuki away, in exchange for a favour. The entity seems at least partly aligned with Hazou. Doubtlessly there are places where its values are orthogonal to ours: just weird, not monstrous. That's the space for mutually beneficial trades.
    • This is an insane idea. That's why you're looping in Kei and Kagome: if theyagree it's reasonable, it likely is.
      • Hazou already has some experience managing Out-possession.
      • Kei had hinted she knows of methods to "interface with inimical entities" in relative safely.
      • Kagome has built an entire paradigm around managing the attention from Out.
    • Currently, this seems like the only way to prevent Hidan inevitably finding us.
  • Conduct the ritual, if approved.
    • Draw on how you set up the seance. Do it while having a DoB consequence; have Jashin's symbol nearby.
    • Employ whatever other optimizations Kei, Snowflake, and Kagome can suggest.
      • Prioritize mental safety. The risk of moderate damage is probably unpreventable, but don't proceed if you expect severe damage.
    • Ensure there's some way for the entity to communicate what it wants using probability-manipulation. A spirit board; a parchment with an ink bottle standing precariously near it; dice being rolled.
    • Opening offers:
      • Maximizing the future flow of souls across Paths (Washerman). (Say, by popularizing recreational cross-Path travel.)
      • Locking-in a constantly changing world (Unkind One). (Say, by making it constantly oscillate between different, but equally utopian, states.)

No, 10 will not be enough. We will need to eat the mednin notes and we have neither time or the space between barriers to do so atm. The buff from the chakra water is extremely mid. We can revisit it at our leisure.
Also, sending just Kei+Tenten as a search party seems risky. They'll be a little short on firepower, have very lopsided team composition, and low margin for error(if one get disabled or needs help, the team needs to deal with that situation while at 50% ability)

The cave is clear. They shouldn't encounter anything.

We can try to send Canvass, but she asked not to be Summoned here and I suspect we'll lose that fight.
Can you please have Hazō tell the team we are following Naruto's orders?
Sure, next round of edits.

That's betting Leaf's security that the besieging force won't cast Living Roots, scout win HlaM, or do any of dozens of earth techniques that could give up the game.
And if they are in fact besieging, they'll have plenty of time to probe our defences.

Also, sufficiently exotic/powerful chakra sensors like Kisame might be able to sense the shape of the the shield with little effort.
I mean we are talking about massive depth here. If I'm not mistaken then the depth they would have to explore is half the radius of the dome/sphere.

We can try to send Canvass, but she asked not to be Summoned here and I suspect we'll lose that fight.
when? IIRC, the young guy Cannai assigned to us, Cannu(?) got slurped and didn't want to come back, and gave Hazou a talking-to, but I don't think Canvass was involved.

@Sir Stompy can we have a sit-down with the team where we pick our next interesting target?
we should discuss raiding Jashinists, taking over a Pirate ship (ask Noburi about viability of caring for a pile of coma patients, and the teams moral willingnes to do so), hunting the Squirrel scroll, investigating Whirilpool, ect.
we should also ask for suggestions from the rest of the team. are there any promising missions they can think of?

You mean right now??? We just finished this mission and it is time to LIGHTHOUSE.

Maybe in a month or two...

@Paperclipped @eaglejarl @Velorien

A few TH-hacking questions:
  • If we make a single attempt on a TH project that turns out to difficult, stop the project, and then restart it a substantial amount of time later, will the restarted project still have a higher TN on it from the previous attempt?
  • If we attempt a TH project repeatedly and annoy chakra into raising the difficulty, will that increased difficulty be permanent or would it fade eventually?
  • If we attempt a TH project repeatedly and annoy chakra into raising the difficulty, will the increased difficulty affect other people or pangolins who attempt a similar project?
  • Would a technique hacker who is exceptionally skilled in seduction have an advantage when performing technique hacking?
Hi all! (@Paperclipped @eaglejarl @Velorien)

Just checking up to see if these questions were still under discussion! Thanks. It would be really great to get them answered before we leave behind our TH buff. The first question especially, since that determines whether or not we're going to hold off completely until we get a higher TH or whether we are free to try some tweaks now while we are at the cave.

Actually @_The_Bomb they seemed inspired by the last speech so I think we can save this for the next one. After we get a few more runes done.
I'd much rather disclose it at the first relevant opportunity. It starts to feel like we're not treating them as a true part of the team, otherwise.

Is there any way I could convince you to change your mind?

Yuno was also tentatively interested in SC, yes?
Yup, and she has learned it.

when? IIRC, the young guy Cannai assigned to us, Cannu(?) got slurped and didn't want to come back, and gave Hazou a talking-to, but I don't think Canvass was involved.
Candoru said that he didn't want to go back into the cave, and that he didn't want to be used as a disposable trap detector while Hazō sat in the rear. He doesn't object to being summoned in general.

"Yes, well, remind me not to answer if you try to summon me there."
I misremembered this quote. Summoning Canvass seems good to me
Point of information to avoid confusion: you are not in the deep desert.

K. For right now, I would like to float the idea of the Pirate Plan, because, if viable, it would be a significantly more effective way to lighthouse.

Fighting pirates is a fast way to unstagnate(and Noburi needs that), a boat lets us stay mobile without breaking camp, lets us research while relocating, and lets us transport prisoners without getting slowed down or stuck in one place.

Suggest the logistics to Kei, and ask Noburi about the medical practicality. Also mention that Hazou is tempted by the huge advantages, but is uncomfortable with becoming someone who thinks of unwilling victims as resources. (possible note: it's the kind of fucked-up thing the Sanin would have done). He could really use his family's advice here.

as a bonus, it also sounds like a fun scene to read/write.

If we find any hints of the Otter scroll I think that would be the obvious next target. If that produces loot without an unstagnation then the issue with scroll hunting is that Mari is the only non-Summoner trained to be a Summoner on the team and she retired. Acquiring the Summoning stunt takes a long period of time. I consider scrolls a lower priority with the constraints we have right now, and would suggest we continue to consider the list of stuff EJ reminded us when we fought the Leopards. Given that we did unstagnate, adventuring seems reasonably productive after all and we may want to check other stuff out.
