@Paperclipped @eaglejarl @Velorien Can we have Noburi have had Elemental Apprentice (Water)? He'd have absolutely had it by now if we'd had access to it from the quest's inception, so it feels a little odd for Noburi to be missing out on +10 for WDB and such right now.

The magmaspine she was targeting is dead, ripped in half by a fast-moving chunk of metal. The explosive goes off and all the critters must dodge a TN:40 attack. They all succeed, but the explosion creates the Fragile Aspect 'Startled' on all the critters. No tags awarded.
@Sir Stompy, this is why I want to research the genin-level seal Goo Grenades. There's a good chance it would have completely locked down several nearby magmaweasels instead of just taking out a single enemy.

TN 40 just isn't enough at the levels we operate at.

What makes you think they were in Melee range of each other?

I see no indication of such and enemies are assumed not to be unless otherwise specified.

Are the Capacitor Runes heavier when full, and if so, by how much?
0.9974 picograms

(Humor only, not WOG)

@eaglejarl
Had sufficient time passed for Hazō's shift of stress to expire?
Yes.
@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped

The quoted plan is still not on Kei's sheet. It might actually make a difference in this fight. Can it please be added prior to more rolls being made.
Will do.

Did the rest of the team take a dip in the pool?
No.

Doylist: it would have changed the outcome of the fight in ways that would have been a pain for me and salt-inducing for you.

Watsonian: not knowing precisely how the effects of the pool would interact with chakravore drain, the team decided to make sure the cave system was clear before going into combat while pooled up.

Yes, everything should have had the cost reduction applied to it. So all of the costing @eaglejarl did for the jutsu and the like is wrong
See above for why this is wrong.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped Are Force Claws sufficient to counterattack in melee without suffering the magma countercounterattacks?
No. They are only 4" long. Fortunately, I am ruling that Pangolin Earth Armor is thick enough that the heat doesn't transfer quickly. As long as you are making only brief contact (e.g. smacking it, brushing a magma bolt off) you won't take damage from the heat. Note that this does not make Hazō immune to the magmaspine attacks, it only gives him very good armor.

Would you like to roll a new character?
Wow, that was hilarious. I laughed for a good long minute.

We should tell Kei that going missing was Ami's plan.
[Χ] Tell Kei that going missing was Ami's idea

he already knows, she was there(ish) when Ami went missing.
Sorry, I'm not faflec; when was this mentioned?

Granted, it was Team Uplift; their stealth was kinda meh, so it was less 'ghosted' and more 'sauntered while trying not to clomp'. They were really more about overwhelming firepower, to be honest.
And now I have confirmed it with my own eyes: @Velorien is all about Ami, and @eaglejarl is all about explosions. /s

Hazō and Kei led because they had demonstrated the ability to resist chakravore drain better than the non-Shadow-Clone-users. Resistance, however, was not immunity.
Capstone Resolve FTW.

"The correct terminology is magma while it is underground. It is only lava once it reaches the surface."
Define "surface". I think there's an argument to be made that the floor of a cave is the "surface" in terms of not flowing completely enclosed in rock. (Obligatory IANAGeologist)

"That's insane," Noburi said. "Even for a Hazō plan, that's insane."
At what point will someone (other than Ami; she's already figured it out) notice the difference between the Hazoupilot's and the hivemind's plans?

Kei looked extremely unhappy as she began pulling equipment from her storage seals, grumbling noting all the while that she was doing so under protest. She definitely was not grumbling. Bearers of the crystalline power of the Frozen Skein did not 'grumble', they 'noted'.
You saw it here first, people: official WoG that Snowflake is legally allowed to grumble.

The chakravores and magmaweasels screamed their animalistic challenge and lashed out in reply.
Wow. Wasn't expecting a cliffhanger. Looking forward to the punching (as long as it doesn't go poorly for us).

Tenten and Kei were already sliding into the warm embrace of the pool. Kei, Hazō noticed, was wearing the same figure-hugging navy swimsuit from so long ago, except now she felt no need to wrap her arms nervously around herself as she entered the water.

"The water is indeed quite pleasant," Kei said, her face relaxing as she floated in the heat. She sounded surprised. "Hazō, Noburi, you should join us."
Kei and Tenten at least were explicitly shown to have bathed in the pool. Plausibly it occurred to the team that Hazō and Noburi shouldn't join them after the end of that chapter.

What was Kei's initiative?
49. I have added it in the most recent draft which will be overwriting the existing version after I get everything written up.

There were a couple days between that scene and when the team went into the cavern.

I couldn't sleep so I finished plotting out all the mechanics for the fight. Takes a long time when there's 30+ combatants some of whom have lots of fiddly numbers to calculate.

I still need to write the text of the battle, but as to everyone's state of health: No one got hurt. Or maybe someone got a Mild, I dunno, I gave up tracking it. Whatever, it doesn't matter. Everyone will be fine within 24 hours.

Actually, heck with the spoilers tags.

Everyone's fine. The critters are dealt with, you can move on from the bughunt part of the scenario and do something else.

Voting is open. It closes Wednesday 11pm UK time.

[X] Action Plan: Chakra SCIENCE
Word Count: 299
Intended Duration: 2 days
  • Seal up some 'vores for later study
  • Return to the grotto and start investigating the pool
  • Set up a TR 125 in the grotto
  • The research team (Noburi, Hazou, Kagome) will, using Vampiric Dew, chakrascope and MS8...
    • Examine everyone's chakra system and chakra regeneration, before/during/after they enter the pool. Have unaffected people make SCs and test the effects on them.
    • Summon someone and test the effect of the pool on Summons. Same monitoring protocol.
    • Noburi, can you tell the difference between human and nature chakra here? Do NOT drain the Summon.
    • Noburi should discern if the pool would have a deleterious effect on his chakra system before using it.
    • Test using the pool water in Noburi's barrel/draining through it.
    • Does Noburi think he could replicate the effects of the pool with his bloodline/medical ninjutsu?
    • If the water is determined to be non-chakra containing, store some and test it on a unaffected party member outside the grotto
  • Cast ES on the statue of the chakravore made by draining Candoru. See if there's anything interesting about it.
  • Cast ES on the grotto, smooth out the gaps in the plugged tunnels, look for strange sources of chakra in the rock. Try to identify the older markings in the walls. Add one for Team Uplift
    • Hazou doesn't think this will cause golems to attack, but be combat ready w/ skywalkers on, ready to flee.
  • Look for any fungi and plants with medical properties. Consult Orochimaru's dossier
  • Spend a day mutithreading prep days on runes to replicate the pool's effects.
  • Hazou should start FOOMing again with spare chakra from pool savings.
