Once Akane gets her 45 (!) XP from SC training (and 2.25 XP from Yamanaka jutsu!), she'll have 314 XP and 27 Yamanaka XP.

[X] Training Akane: FOOM standard
Substitution 10 -> 20 (155 XP)
Resolve 27 -> 30 (87 XP and 27 Yamanaka XP)

Save 72 XP.

With this Resolve upgrade, she'll be using 7 training blocks for 0.7x XP gain rate. After this training plan, her pyramid will be 4/4/4/3/1

This is awkward and raises questions about the next step. Still, we have until Resolve 39 to deal with that. Also, do we want the rocket boots stunt?

[X] Training Akane: FOOM + Rocket Jump!
Substitution 10 -> 20 (155 XP)
Resolve 27 -> 30 (87 XP and 27 Yamanaka XP)
Rocket Jump! (10 XP)

Save 62 XP.

Rocket Jump is a small enough cost that the detour it represents from the FOOM-optimal route is negligible. I can also confirm that we are in the clear to raise Resolve to 39 unimpeded, but after that we have to choose one of my candidate FOOM paths to progress beyond that point.

Once Keiko gets her 30 XP from SC training (and 1.5 from Yamanaka), she'll have 467 XP and 23 Yamanaka XP. She needs to raise SC (for more Snowflake and more chakra-efficient FOOM:

[X] Training Keiko: FOOM standard
Shadow Clone 30 -> 40 (355 XP)
Resolve 33 -> 36 (82 XP + 23 Yamanaka XP)

Save 30 XP.

[X] Training Keiko: FOOM + Rocket Jump!
Shadow Clone 30 -> 40 (355 XP)
Resolve 33 -> 36 (82 XP + 23 Yamanaka XP)
Rocket Jump! (10 XP)

Save 20 XP.

Once this is done, her pyramid will be 8/4/3/2/1. This also raises questions about what her next step should be. Thankfully for later. From here on out, she'll get 0.9x XP.

With her current pyramid set-up, if she raises Alertness beyond 40, it blocks her ability to raise Shadow Clone to 40. This makes FOOM take substantially longer as we need to raise a new stat to 30 and SC to 40 before she can get the benefit of raising her Resolve. I don't know how to explain how this is represented in-universe.

On the other hand, raising her Alertness a small amount in the 30s is unlikely to help her win initiative against the enemies she cares about. It seems better to postpone it for a couple months in-universe, at which point we can raise Alertness into the 40s, 50s, or even 60s. In-universe: improving mildly on the current situation doesn't address any threat model, so it might be better to wait a few IC months to make a more substantial change.

While not as discussed as Akane's FOOM paths, Keiko also has a clear shot and then a choice (FOOM paths can be found here or in my sig). Her paths are synchronized until Resolve 39, and then we either raise one stat to 30 (preferrably but not necessarily CR for the benefits to her as a Summoner) and then jump from Resolve 39 to Resolve 50, or we raise two stats to 30 and one to 20 and then Resolve can progress to 40 naturally.

Essentially we push Resolve 39, then choose which stat we want at 30, then choose which route we go down.

"Yeah," Jiraiya said grimly. "To be precise, it's a blank for the seal that I designed while dead drunk on the night that Tsunade, Orochimaru, and I came back to find that Old Man Shikagura was dead. Tsunade was asleep at the time, I was on guard duty, and Orochimaru was keeping me company while we killed our third bottle. I started screwing around with seals, talking about how ninja had all these crazy powers but we still couldn't keep people safe. Orochimaru and I passed out before I actually infused it, and I destroyed the pattern in the morning."

So, Hazou saw this seal which means that the IN absorbed it, right? Did we ever find out what it does/was meant to do? If this is going to be spoon-negative, say the word and I'll delete this part.

What should we do next? I am thinking a section focusing on the Great Seal, and maybe a therapy session for Keiko/Ami and Mari?

Here's my plan from last cycle, I'll probably write a different plan tomorrow though.

[X] Welcome Home, Here's Some Lists
Word Count: 299
  • GOKETSU-ONLY MEETING
    • Distribute DRAGONWAR reports.
      • Noburi/Keiko: thoughts on Ami's Crusader idea?
    • If Arachnid scroll isn't in Rock fort we have no leads. Hazo doesn't know what to do next either way.
      • Discuss other options to get Kagome a scroll. Otter or Kraken seem most promising.
        • Can Kagome contract in time to affect DRAGONWAR? If not, Hazou prefers Akane contract next. Thoughts?
    • Orochimaru hasn't attended Sealmaster meetings. Is it worth trying to tackle DRAGONWAR without him?
  • Kumokogo
    • Bring HOWS to Arachnids, explain lifespan and how to tell if they need replacing.
    • Pitch Ami's Crusader idea. She's unfamiliar with 7th path, how could it be improved?
      • Condor Scouts should visit soon to verify Dragons exist, on Enma's recommendation. Pardon us if this was rude.
    • Describe landmarks around Rock fort, verify it's the same island/lake Kumokogo described.
      • Rock would capture/kill Hazou on sight. If the Scroll is there, Hazou likely can't access it.
      • If they have it, why haven't they signed it? Hopefully they train a Sealmaster...
    • Explain what Hazou thinks will be needed to recreate Seal for study. Manage research time expectations.
      • Any lore/history helps. How long have arachnids guarded it? Did Kumokogo see its creation/meet the Sage?
    • If the plan to reach the Great Seal is the same as before, Hazou has timed Implosion Seals for the kamikaze troops to wear.
      • Show proper respect.
      • Take time to teach seal activation.
      • How frequently can Great Seal be approached with this strategy?
      • Hazou isn't expecting much, but Implosion seals could damage lungs if detonated near Dragons' chests.
    • Apply HOWS to Great Seal, ensure they work, get out.
  • Other (Offscreen)
    • Ask Noburi where he wants training to go. Is our suggestion okay?
    • Ask Haru to stop murdering yaks. Asuma noticed, he's pissed. We're not exactly happy either.

I had similar thoughts. We can have a list of experiments to be offscreened, then have a mega-chapter where we attempt to begin the process of reconciliation between Kei and Mari.

Ideally, we'd have Akane, Ami, Noburi, and Snowflake mediating it all. Possibly Kagome, too (he's earnest and genuine, with surprising introspective depths to his character that belies his oft-meme'd paranoia).

EDIT: It's also a Vel chapter, and he enjoys writing Ami and Kei. Just sayin' :whistle:

Noburi... is in a rough shape right now. With WW 50, it's hard for him to raise Athletics or Alertness up there, and he doesn't really want to keep WW as his main training stat when he has the dope-af WDB as an option. (Even if WW is so much cheaper, Noburi should be the Star of the Show with the big flashy jutsu).

The most important thing is Athletics 40 (190 XP; 446 remaining), leaving his pyramid as:

7/6/3/2/1

Now he can't raise another stat into the 40s. One option is to save up XP for a leapfrog into the 50s with WDB (405 XP; 41 XP remaining).

This immediately clears our concern about getting WDB up high, since now it's a top stat, pyramid:

7/6/2/2/2

The issue is that it'll make it really hard to get Alertness and Athletics high again; one reasonable way is to level ??? and ??? (Mednin/Medknow anyone?) to 30 (7/4/4/2/2), level Alertness to 40 (7/4/3/3/2), then level Athletics to 50 as we level WDB to 60 (7/4/3/2/2) leaving Noburi in a defensively weakened state for a long while.

So that's one plan. Another is to be more conservative, avoid leapfrogging and raise his medic stats now while shoring up his basics with some skills for dodging. Here's the one me and @Shrooms hammered out in the Discord:

Athletics 35 -> 40 (190 XP) [Obvious choice]
Substitution 7 -> 20 (182 XP) [Keep Sub at half athletics -- since his alertness is low, he'll need it to survive the first round of combat without any buffs]
Ami's Ultimate Buster Bomb 1 -> 10 (27 XP) [why not?]
Medical Knowledge 12 -> 19 (112 XP)
Medical Ninjutsu 12 -> 19 (112 XP) [He can't have an Aspect like I Will Be the Next Tsunade with Medical skills at 12...]

(save 13 XP)

After this, his pyramid will be 8/7/3/2/1, with a hellscape for any stat that wants to get past the overcrowded 20s practically requiring leapfrogging over it.

Anyway, here are the two plans I want to pose for Noburi. Suffice to say that there's lots of options for him and it would be good if others proposed theirs. I'm adding Rocket Jump! now since that seems overwhelmingly popular.

[X] Training Noburi: Star of the Show

Athletics 35 -> 40 (190 XP)
Water Dragon Bullet 30 -> 50 (405 XP)
Substitution 7 -> 10 (27 XP)
Rocket Jump! (10 XP)

(save 4 XP)

[X] Training Noburi: I Will Be the Next Tsunade

Athletics 35 -> 40 (190 XP)
Substitution 7 -> 20 (182 XP)
Ami's Ultimate Buster Bomb 1 -> 10 (27 XP)
Medical Knowledge 12 -> 19 (112 XP)
Medical Ninjutsu 12 -> 19 (112 XP)
Rocket Jump! (10 XP

(save 3 XP)
