I don't get how Shadow Clones can exist, be capable of sealing, and yet Leaf doesn't have a jillion sealsmasters.
Because high-jounin chakra reserves are needed and it's top secret. Even if you have the clearance and the very high reserves (remember that sealing, as a rule, doesn't need large chakra reserves, it's the most obvious dump stat you'll find), you only get one or two clones max without utterly burning yourself out, and even if you had ways to get more chakra you still have to avoid Clone Sickness so you can't get many more than that.

So sure, maybe Leaf has a few sealmasters with Shadow Clone clearance who for some reason trained to have high Jounin chakra reserves. Leaf now has effectively a few more sealmasters. That's a small strategic edge - "We have more high-power seals than other villages because we have two sealmasters who know Shadow Clone" - but not 'take over the world sealspam everywhere' setting-breaking consequences.

The reason shadow clones break sealing isn't that they help make seals faster. It's because being able to use a clone leads to dramatically fewer dead sealmasters-in-training and more aggressive seal development. No wonder J is so comparatively lackadaisical about prep.

I imagine your clone getting Seal-thulued and you getting the memories from that is pretty much almost as bad.

Doesn't this presuppose that the seal-master in training knows Shadow Clone - that is, is a High-Chunin/Jonin level ninja - before taking up sealing? I suppose most Jonin care more about maximizing the strengths that led to them being Jonin, rather than taking up dangerous but potentially lucrative side-paths.

Sealmasters-in-training must infuse their own seals, and bad-stuff happens on infusion.

It really shines for sealmasters that make it to the big leagues, though. Unless sealing failures do a thing that ride back along the connection between Shadow Clone and real person, which at least some (memory/info hazards) would.

  • Team Uplift delivers the game night invitations
    • The ground is lava!
      • They must chakra adhere to other surfaces or bounce off of clones/themselves/use jutsu to avoid touching the ground.
    • Deliver Lee's first. Ask him if he wants to join in.
    • They do a couple laps around Leaf afterwards. Youth!

Why is there a Youth thing mentioned? I prefer not to copy Lee.

If I recall correctly, sealing is typically restricted to chunin and up to even start, and Jounin are known for their flexibility, with most knowing at least two elements.

@MMKII, generally leaning towards A Day to Do Things (and would also like to explicitly say that I've been generally pleased with and impressed by your plan building/curating for the last while), but I do have a concern:

  • That Ichiraku Ramen place looks good...
  • Debrief Jiraiya on the remainder of our plan

It's unclear both why we're looking at Ichiraku in particular and why we're trying to have even relatively un-secret conversations in public (Hazou doesn't need to get chewed out over OPSEC again).

In completely unrelated news, there is a reason I've been absent for the last few days and will probably be about less consistently for the foreseeable future: my wife and I have completed our 9-month project to rewrite one of each of our Aspects to New Parent, and are facing a significant number of Compels on said Aspect in the time to come.

[X] Action Plan: A Day to Do Things.

@MMKII,
Not the most pressing issue: Maybe we should talk with Mari (under max OPSEC) about Hana being incredible bitter and blaming her for everything? Also that Mist seems to use her as a scapegoat instead of Shikigami?

What an update!

So much to digest, yet so little time. I'll have to highlight the most important bit I suppose:

"Great," Hazō said bitterly. "So what am I supposed to do? Get the Yamanaka to teach me how to read minds?"

The idea of the best bride is there, deep in the dark recesses of his subconscious.

Now we must refine it to the following:

"Great," Hazō said bitterly. "So what am I supposed to do? Get the Yamanaka

The hidden message is there guys. It is now up to us to act upon it.

For Ino, nothing special.

SCANDALOUS AND SACRILEGE

Perhaps I am being too uncharitable though: maybe he meant that since Ino is obviously amazing and awesome she is, of course, a reward in and of herself. This is consistent with the facts regarding Ino's clearly superior and more numerous desirable traits than any other known potential bride for Hazou. Therefore, Hinata would have to have QM intercession to simply even come close to approaching Ino's potential. I am glad we live in this universe where things make sense.

Moving on to what we should be doing in the following update, I believe that not only should we focus on training and Hazou's emotional well being (as important as those two things are), we should look into and then proceed with establishing a business of some kind while we have time in Leaf. While our clan's finances are stable for now it would be prudent to seek out other forms of income so that we aren't completely dependent upon one source of income, especially if that source is a bunch of genocidal extra-dimensional pseudo-animal aliens.

Here are my priorities currently for the next few updates (subject to change based on new circumstances as they arise in story or otherwise):
  1. Hazou's overall well-being
  2. Our team/clan's training for the tournament
    1. Emotional stability takes precedent so that we don't turn into the next Itachi even if by accident
  3. Starting a self-sufficient business
    1. The Merchant Council requires time to process requests to do business (and we haven't contacted them since we've came back so far), so acting now and giving them time to process our requests while we fight in the tournament could save us weeks worth of waiting once we return to Leaf following the exams' end.
  4. Sealing and other types of research
    1. We only have a month of training time in Leaf and all projects are not guaranteed of bearing fruit in that time frame.
    2. Seals won't protect us as easily as money will if we even run into unexpected financial or, even possibly diplomatic (with large enough bribes and/or payoffs), trouble.
Honestly, the thread should really start viewing large mounds of cash the same way we do seals: what can we do with our spending money that no one else is currently doing with their own capital?

Hazou needs a moment to process his acceptance of his break up and then we should focus on pursuing our goals. If Hazou-blissfully-unaware-of-his-own-romantic-relationships is horrible at interacting with people, then Hazou-finally-reacting-to-his-first-break-up will definitely not be any better at interpersonal skills. Let the boy tire himself out physically by training during the day among his friends (excluding (but not explicitly as per Mari's insights) Akane so as not to reopen still healing wounds) so that he is too tired to ponder over his situation too much as he tries to fall asleep for, say, a week at least. When he can't train and he can't sleep yet we should have him relax socially, ideally by calling a political truce to do no politicking for a few nights just so the "candidates" can have time to really unwind. After that we should reassess his mental health and if necessary set up counseling sessions with a professional. If Hazou still detests the idea of a professional talking to his actual mother might help or Mari in the interim.

We only have limited control over Hazou now; let's not drive him crazy by pushing his too hard before he has a chance to properly process the loss of his first relationship. Once that is done to our satisfaction we can move onto ALL the projects.

Speaking of other news, congratulation to @Erolki for becoming a parent. May your new family be happy and healthy in this new chapter in your lives and the days yet to come.

Oh, is that how it works? We can just put "Interlude" instead of "Plan" and be reasonably assured nothing bad will happen?

Hot damn! Why didn't anyone tell me this before?

[✗] Interlude: Team Uplift Triumphs Over Akatsuki, Rescues Naruto, and Hazou becomes the Ten Tails' Jinchuuriki
End of interlude, after a scene break marker:

The rest of Hazō's life was comfortable and, for a certain definition, happy. Jiraiya spared no expense. Twice a week, despite the Yamanaka's warnings that some strains of headcanon could be contagious, he would visit Hazō and listen patiently to his tales of his latest adventures.

Near the end of his life, he confessed to his heir that his greatest regret was not being able to save Naruto before Hazō did.

What does Hazō the heroic jinchuuriki do next?

Voting closes on Wednesday 27th of September, 12 pm London time.

Congratulations and good luck! You're going to have such a mountain of FP to burn through by the time you get your next Aspect change and start sleeping again.

"Well, believe me, it makes a difference. You can change her life with a few words. She barely has a say in her own future. I can tell you now that she never forgot it for a second, just like she never forgot that she would always be something like seventh best when it came to wife candidates."

We should also ask about our (and Noburi's) marriage options. I am really curious.

[x] Action Plan: Stress-relief
  • Run all of this past J/Kei to avoid unknown unknowns.
  • Hazou finally books a therapy appointment with Neira, because he has had a lot of issues for a long time and this is the straw that broke the chakra-camel's back and he wants to feel alright again.
  • Hazou wants to put his talents to use on something that's unambiguously a good thing that he doesn't have to feel complicated feelings at. He asks the team if we can take an A-rank mission to cleanse an area of chakra beasts.
  • Sealing with Kagome and Jiraiya.
    • Casino seals (aiming towards chakra-sense gear).
    • Expanded capacity storage scrolls/macerators/PMYF.
    • Other seals from the collection Hazou gave Jiraiya.

Thanks. I try. Although I'm going to be suffering from list exhaustion soon.

The point of Ichiraku Ramen is to go to Ichiraku Ramen in particular. I want to see Teuchi damn it. Side quests. Also, stress relief.

Most of this plan is wacky zany plot stress relief that manages to get some useful stuff done too.

Also, congratulations!

This is a good point. I think we should def do this next update.
