I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

On a side note how do people feel about ordering a T4 Mat heart? People have been talking about making a legendary healing banner and we can use that instead. We also had people talking about using something like that for a future Adamant armor for Snorri himself for either fortitude or healing to help him stay in fights longer.
It would have to be a troll heart for that, but I'd be fine with it.

I know that you roll to see if Yorri stays, what I meant is that if the Dice Gods decide that he stays, will we get a few more "free" Yorri prods next turn, or we will only ge the ones that we leave unspent this turn? Or at least another action similar to Prod for Prod that could give us more Yorri´s prod?
the prods dont refresh even if Yorri returns. You will get more prod for prod but only once per turn.

It would have to be a troll heart for that, but I'd be fine with it.
But didn't we use the Elder Dragons brain for the rune of currents when normally Griffon brains are used? That seems to imply that we can use 'substitutes' for some runes. Imagine that something like an ancient Hydra's heart would work as a T4 substitute.

Diction, because a garuntee for something finishing this turn would be nice, instead of potentially lots of partial progress and no payoff.

Not Dragon Ogres because we have another method of quickening that research, so using Yorri prods isn't necessary.

Hearthstone and Silverwood is a toss up, but it feels like we use Silverwood more often.
If he's still around next turn I could be convinced in using the last prod on it.

I'd argue that we use silverwood more often than hearthstones because, while we have no real idea about rune synergies for either, silverwood is still wood, and so gets used as a build material.

In terms of rune synergies either could be more useful post-research.

As for dragon ogres, if we max roll yorri prod, we could knock out a six action research for an action and a prod.

That said, I do approve of your full Yorri focus.

Im just excited about the Griphons being a thing and Dwarf allies and they did a lot of good so Id at least like to see them recover and be safe long term.

I figure they'll fade away into just another part of the story as things move on. As for the Gronti....perhaps but we've seen those get krumped left and right whereas the banner did a lot of good and wasnt a diect target.

Why not use the T5 one we have for it?

It happened twice, two in one instance, against Kholek fucking Suneater. That doesn't constitute "left and right"

Why not use the T5 one we have for it?
Because as mentioned prefer we use it to make a super gronti super combatant. We can literally use T4 for other things like Banners and in an Adamant armor meant for Snorri.

Again, we can literally use T4 for the banners while a T5 would let us create a super combatant Gronti. Note, seeing as we own a Gromril mine we can make the whole thing out of pure Gromril and outfit it Adamant equipment. And people seem to downplay Gronti, which is odd considering that 10 let Snorri survive several years outside a Dwarf hold when the incursions hit for several decades before meeting the Sky King while the Miner was pretty helpful in helping defend the Underway and managed to stay intact for the whole incursion.

This is identical to one of my plans save that you only have two prods on Movement of Things, I'm assuming you perhaps made this before soulcake's edit that we can use all 4 on research?
No, I just put one on Diction Direction to get that done, since the amount of talking between Dwarfs and Griffons in general is going to increase from here on and better translation would probably help with that.

I have one advice and request -- no, rather, a plea -- for plan-making:

Use the expendable resources (destructive testing and Prods) and don't be afraid if it doesn't complete, and save all the actions for stuff that you absolutely can't use Prods and shaggoth corpses on.

Use the Action Points on Warding Aeries, or Odd Places, or Combo Testing, or Prod for Prod. (Frankly I want to share stuff with Master Yorri, and I hope that if we have Prods remaining and give him something cool, he'll stick around longer.)

Do not, for example, spend 2 Actions on Dragon Ogre Autopsy, and then also use so much Destructive Testing and many Prods that it will auto-complete even if all the D3 or D2 rolls come up snake-eyes. Do not pour Actions into Movement of Things and then also enough Prods that it can't possibly fail. Because, if it doesn't auto-complete? Let it. Don't worry about it. So long as you've brought it down to 1 or 2 actions, it'll be fine and easy.

Instead, put your actions into stuff that is either time-limited like Odd Places with Yorri Prods, or which require a lot of actions to overflow, like the Warded Aeries.

I for one, really want to pour 3 actions into the Warded Aeries so we can get 5 actions total, and overflow it by 3. Because I really want it to become another Epic or Legendary construction. And this one, for our allies.

These plans all make me want to cry with the 2 actions invested into one research. ><

The problem is that they're all... They're Action-spend-foolish or extremely conservative on finishing up actions for 100% sure, so to speak?

They all make use of expendable resources, which is good... But they don't trust anything but the minimum rolled result of those expendable resources. They throw in actions to, for-sure, finish them up.

I think we should use the Destructive Testing and Yorri Prods to take risks. Well. "Risks." The risk is just not finishing it in one turn.

We should use the Destructive Testing and Yorri Prods in order to have a chance to complete the researches -- and meanwhile, we spend all our actions on doing stuff that we can't use Prods on.

So all the Action Points should go into Requests, or into Combo Testing, or hell even into Odd Places!

This does the same thing, too.

I'd... actually be interested in switching 1 of action Actions in Movement of Things, into Warded Aeries. The Movement of Things has 3 prods on it, that means it has to roll a 1 three times in order to fail to complete. The D2 roll has to fail three times. We do not need to worry about it that much. And even if it does fail, that's... well that's okay, frankly. It's left with only 1 action to finish up, that's fine.

But the Aeries. We can only complete them, and overflow them, once. And 3 action Productivity gets you 2 bonus actions. So you'd be overflowing it by 3 actions! I want to see that.

I want to see if we can make The Warded Aeries a wonder.

Like the Gates of Kraka Drakk (and the murderous labyrinth within). I want to see if we can make something wonderful for our close friends and allies.
Here's a plan for you.

[] Plan Movement and Its Scaly Cat
-[] Refuse the Hearth: Allow the King of the Skies to consume it. Gain standing with the Skarrenraz Ankor and KoTS. ???
-[] Boon from the Sky: A bundle of your crest feathers. [Cost: Start Request, [Difficult] Plated Skies Pt. 1:]
-[] Prod for Prod: Master Yorri is most certainly more learned and experienced than you are, but mayhaps you have something worth his time as well? The secrets of the Rune Metal Adamant, your discovery of flaming comets? [Cost: 1 action] Gain x3 Yorri prods. 1 Action.
-[] The Movement of things: The Rune of Waking or Animation as some would call it is a rare rune. How Master Yorri knows both the regular and Master Rune could be explained by either a harrowing adventure full of terror, beasties and treasure or by something as mundane as asking a friend, you could never be sure with the man. Still, this was a rune that, to your frustration, you haven't had much chance to tinker with. Maybe just a peak? [Cost: 8 actions] Student of the Odd will proc. 1 Action.
--[] Prod Yorri: Master Yorri, by his own account, has a good idea about how gronti and their ilk function.[Cost: 1 prod] Gain 1d2+1 Progress, can be taken multiple times. 4 Prods.
-[] Dragon Ogre Autopsy: You've found yourself with a bevy of corpses to study. Dragon Ogres aren't an unknown foe, but you've never been privy to the results of the few limited autopsies done in the long history of your people. [Cost: 6 actions] Student of the Odd will proc. 1 Actions.
--[] Destructive Research: You have very many corpses. Being a bit more invasive in your understanding will mean more work gets done, but will cost you. [Cost: 3 Shaggoth Corpses, 9 Dragon Ogre Corpses] Gain 2 Progress, can be taken multiple times. Take Twice.
--[] Prod Yorri: See if your master has something in his noggin, he spent a decade fighting these things. [Cost: 1 prod] Gain 1d3 of progress. 1 Prod.
-[] Diction Direction: Master Yorri's Rune of Translation is serviceable, but it's in a position that you can very clearly see areas for improvement. This would certainly be easier if you knew Master Yorri was right now, but you have the Rune and seven centuries under your belt, so it's not an insurmountable challenge for a Runelord. [Cost: (6 -4) =2 actions] Student of the Odd will proc. 1 Action
--[] Prod Yorri: He discovered the damn thing, maybe he has more insights?[Cost: 1 prod] Gain 1 Progress. 1 Prod.
-[] [Simple] Weaponized Wings: You can't arm the Griffons of the Skarrenraz Ankor with Gromril, while lesser in population than the hold they make up for it in sheer bulk that needs to be protected. What you can do, however, is take part in King Otrek's efforts to arm them with Runic weaponry and good solid steel armour. It will mostly consist of you spending time fitting a few select Griffons, likely the eldest and most powerful given your position, with Rune weapons and maybe a suit of Gromril armour if they're important enough. [Cost: 1 action] Productivity Like No Other will proc. 1 Action.

We have to take at least one action for the Dragon Ogre autopsy so can't stack corpse expenditure to complete it. This plan completes the Movement of Things, Dragon Ogre Autopsy and Diction Direction while using up all of our Prods. It also gives Yorri the secrets of Adamant so that more runesmiths are able to do it. I'm curious what he'd come up with. The final action is to help out the Griffons with weapons. I'd do the Aeries too but not enough actions.

Also yeah, Kholek was a high tier super combatant so deadly that it took 4 other super combatants going up against him at the same time to have a chance against him and even then they needed the support of Dwarven siege weapons including one designed to kill Dragon Ogres carrying a spike made out of high tier mats including Adamant that also literally had Kholek's name on it.

In this case it's like saying that Space Marines get taken out left and right by using an example of them getting curbstomped by a freaking transcended C'Tan shard.

I can only imagine what the hell kind of dragon Grimnir fought that it was worth mentioning. You know, compared to everything else that would have been in their way.

... Actually, rereading it once more and a bit more closely, I realize that only one of the actions can have multiple Yorri Prods applied. ><

You have 5 actions this turn and [Special] Yorri prods x4 which can be used in some actions. YOU NEED TO TAKE THE ACTION AND INVEST ONE ACTION TO USE THE PROD, UNLESS STATED ASSUME YOU CAN ONLY PROD ONCE.

[ ] The Movement of things: The Rune of Waking or Animation as some would call it is a rare rune. How Master Yorri knows both the regular and Master Rune could be explained by either a harrowing adventure full of terror, beasties and treasure or by something as mundane as asking a friend, you could never be sure with the man. Only the Movement of Things research can have multiple prods. So, uh... I guess my dreams of using lots of Prods to vanish off research has hit a bit of a snag? I had sort of overlooked that.

That does change the calculus a bit though. I mean, in the sense that it then means that the biggest dice Prods are the most valuable usages of the Prods. (That, plus the Odd Places. Because +15 to rolls? Yes please.)

Dragon Ogre (6): 1D3 (destructive research +2 per)
Chimaera (4): 1
Silverwood (4): 1D2
Hearthstones (4): 2
Diction Direction (2): 1
Secrets of Light (6): 1D3+1
Movement of Things (8): 1D2+1 (repeatable)

That makes the Secrets of Light the most juicy one, followed by Movement of Things and Dragon Ogres. But only the Movement of Things can be taken multiple times. The number in parenthesis is how many actions are needed to complete the research.

-[X] Dragon Ogre Autopsy: You've found yourself with a bevy of corpses to study. Dragon Ogres aren't an unknown foe, but you've never been privy to the results of the few limited autopsies done in the long history of your people. [Cost: 6 actions] Student of the Odd will proc. 2 Actions.

-[X] C-c-combo Tester!: Write-in format for a Rune Combo you want Snorri to test. Format is as follows: [Placeholder Combo Name] Equipment type: [Rune 1, Rune 2, Rune 3] [Cost: 1 action] If a rune you want requires special ingredients that you don't have access to I will alert you. 2 actions.
--[X] Valaya's Care, Banner: Master Rune of Valaya, Rune of Healing, Rune of Fortitude.
--[X] Valaya's Sanctuary, Banner: Master Rune of Valaya, Rune of Healing, Rune of Sanctuary.

So the idea behind this plan is to give the KoTS the Heart of Kholek both for dramatic irony since Kholek failed in eating the King of the Skies own heart and to set up the King of the Skies armor request. The purpose of asking for the feathers is that honestly I think he's effectively paid for the armor so this is to satisfy pride and give us a selection of feathers to use when making Master Runes of Grimnir either for the King of the Skies with his weapons, or weapons or Banners for dwarves of Kraka Drakk.

Further on we have the Dragon Ogre autopsy so that we can hopefully either use them for the King of the Skies' armor or the Healing Banner I decided to go for a couple pages back and to also just find out what they're useful for generally. I expect many to come hunting for Kraka Drakk when it gets particularly stormy. We have absolute shittons of Dragon Ogre Corpses, 15 Shaggoths and 45 Dragon Ogres. We have a looooooooot to spend so might as well. Finally we go hunting for more wonderful apprentices and test out two different combo possibilities for the Banner.

In terms of combo testing I only want to do one for two reasons: I am pretty confident that Valaya's Sanctuary will create a combo, and for my second reason if I find a combo out of any of the three I suggested I'm going straight for it and discarding the other options. I don't want to spend two turns testing combos. If it fails, we'll we're kinda shit out of luck then. Ain't many runes to do with healing.

[X] Plan To the Heart With No Apprentices

This one is a variation on the To the Heart plan line, with the intent here to be leveraging Yorri as much as possible. With the arrangement of prods on Yorri and actions for Movement of Things we get at minimum, 2 Progress from our Actions, and 6 progress from prodding Yorri. That will complete it in one go. I'm doing something similar for the Dragon Ogre Autopsy, 4 progress from using Destructive Research, 1 progress from our own actions, and 1 progress minimum from Yorri.

That gets all of our research done, feeds the heart to the King of the Skies, takes up the boon with things useful to both him and us, and does combo testing on two different things. For the King's Armor combo I'm going with the idea of "Master of the North Wind, imbue lightning and cold into this steely Armor." with the idea that Steel is both conductive for electricity and heat.

I'd like to have a combo for the King of the Skies armor before next turn rolls around. Cause at that point our best bet is using the Theme option.

It will mostly consist of you spending time fitting a few select Griffons, likely the eldest and most powerful given your position, with Rune weapons and maybe a suit of Gromril armour if they're important enough. This gets the warding of the roosts, their HOMES, done first and with overwork.

Meanwhile, Dragon Ogres are too important as materials, especially given we have Shaggoths and Kholek (who will hopefully have at least one more T5 reagent, perhaps his brain), especially for use in the armor of the King of the Sky and his sons.

Now, there is a CHANCE that we don't complete The Movement of Things this turn, but all it takes is a single 2 on a d2, and we're rolling three of them. I like those odds.

For those who want even more research, but still want to help the Griffons:

Yes, I've changed my mind. I've said I'm open minded, and given that not only is Yorri around to SERIOUSLY expedite things, along with the possibility, however minute, of attracting MORGRIM'S attention...

The idea is making a Grimnir Slayer based one called Remembrance, referring to what Grimnir told us to remember, that we remember it, and that all Dawi must remember why he sacrificed as he did. Now that we have the Master Rune of Grimnir we could probably make a Grimnir combo of combos in it if Fortitude and Rune of Grimnir (a lesser for of MGrimnir) combo as a I hope with a Heart powered Awakening.

4 Prods.
That's... not the plan I wanted, because it gives anywhere from 8 to 12 points on Movement of Things. ><

I'd put only 2, maybe 3, Prods in it. Which, yes, doesn't finish it but. That leaves a Prod free for a critical +15 to Odd Places -- I really want to be able to do a mass-explore option, and having a +15 on all those rolls will be so worth it and sweet.

1 Prod.
This, also, I do not like -- because while it finishes the research, it's one of the least effective usages of the Prods. Which feels painful.

I'd swap it for Secrets of Light, which gives 1D3+1 which is great.

I really like this plan. It gets a ton of research done while also beefing up the Griffons.

Alright, and with the moratorium over, I'm going to vote.

Also Thor the Diction Direction is missing how many Prods it gets, I updated my plan a couple seconds after you voted.
