I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Because I want to give you guys choice about how things go? The Brana vote is precedent-setting and the ceremony vote is equally important and how you do it will affect future prosthetics narrative actions.

I will admit there's a lot of times where I feel like my vote choices aren't that difficult, but I don't know the mood of the thread lurkers. So while there could be pages of folks saying one thing, there could be just as many silent sammies who think differently.

So one part its important for future stuff, another part first time QM, a third part giving you guys choice even if feels forgone.

Could also poke the dead White Lion, depending on how many actions that is? Soul, would you kindly weigh in on how many actions "do science to a dead cat" is?
 
Looking at efficiency, given how Heartstones are Aqshy and how they can be used with Valayan runes, I think that it would make a lot of sense to research the Firebird's feathers next turn, as they're another item linked to Her themes of healing and the hearth that is very likely to be Aqshy based.

I can easily see them being relevant ingredients for the commission, in which case we'd want to know early enough to try to buy a bunch of them, and even possibly reduce the research cost of Her basket.

The Brana's perspective on feathers from a sapient avian 'monster' that's probably linked to the Winds in a way analogous to the way they are would also probably be interesting.

In terms of the vote choices themselves:

I like @Hydroplatypus's reasoning. Orra deciding on a subdued ceremony after asking for subdued limb design is consistent with being a private person and still emotionally processing everything. Being ostentatious does something a little different in that it creates a line of sorts between the private importance of the limbs whose design she had a part in, and the less private ceremony which I think is still valid character direction. That said I think I prefer the straightforward consistency of the subdued part.

The lessening/delaying of political fallout is a nice bonus.

As for the Brana Sculpt0r has a good idea I think. Dolgi is the Branawongr but doesn't have the dwarf clout to actually have a retinue yet and is younger than Snorri so the amount of precedent he can set is less in comparison. Thus why the decision is aimed at Snorri, he's old and high status enough that what he does sets precedent and therefor if we do this it would make it easier for Dolgi to get Brana retinue members. Snorri's also the one who gave the torques in the first place so that's another useful piece weighting the scales in his direction.

And the consequences therein of politics and Standing are pretty obvious so, keep that in mind too. I'm for going for it, especially if we take subdued option for the ceremony.

Alric Thungnison put it best, our decisions are made on what helps Dwarves the most. These will undoubtedly help, and I would see the xenophobia towards such reliable allies lowered sooner than later. We owe them that much.
 
Well, we've freed up a single action slot with regards to 2B so we have that to play around with now or two action slots if people want to toss Dronwut. If all else fails we can always just throw it towards the Prince's commission though.

Can't see us not accepting the Brana, and a subdued ceremony makes the most sense to me.
Also Zhufazul would work as the animated part of that war table idea I had, hope we get some runes that'd make for a good "scanning" combo at some point.
 
I read the glory of the Golden age and weep at the fallen ruin it would become in the age of vengeance. Oh, now I understand why the long beards grumble. To have heard stories of giants like snorri as kids and see how far your people have fallen. It would be intolerable.
 
Like, a ostentatious ceremony being decided on by Snorri and Orra makes sense to me largely on the back of the fact of two dwarves deciding to make a show of scrubbing the consequences and evidence of a now resolved grudge clean for good on top of it being a valid character direction for Orra herself to go for any number of reasons or rationalizations.

But frankly, I don't think its necessary in this instance to try and make it one, because while it makes her and her reasoning a bit more complex the emotions tied to this of grief and acceptance and recovery are simple and straightforward. Simple and straightforward seems best to me from the perspective of them as characters.
 
@soulcake : Do forged limbs work as hand me downs*? That is to say if someone loses a limb and there is a spare lying around can they use it with some blacksmith level adjustments?

They need to be precisely measured and crafted to fully replace missing limb, unlike armor that can be adjusted via straps and stuff. So i doubt it.

Abstaining from the Brana vote as I'm not sure whether the potential political fallout is worth it but I'm not worried enough to vote against it either. Not that I expect it to lose regardless of my vote.
 
to help Snerra's plans. I will vote discrete and I with the guys that we should help ourselves and the murderbirds by adding them to the ancient murdermachine that is the MC guards.

If this make the MC go radical and reduce his voice for the runelord as a whole he can always do a more 'orthodox' action to balance things again. The other runelords know that what MC work on is more of 'what this can do to dwarf kind' then 'what this kind do to me'.

I think people are overselling the political fallout of the Brana just a bit. They're a core part of our Hold and have the tacit approval of the ancestors. It's unusual but I imagine for the most part it won't really be a problem at all. Maybe a little grumbling from way down south but that honestly won't be to a too serious degree imo.
